  1. Don't get me wrong. I've nothing against JD whatsoever. He's a sound bloke and we've had some good (ah wimoweh ah wimoweh!) laughs. What I object to is not crediting your sources. Mario Candellone, TodoTrial, myself and most of the others involved in Trials - if we publish anothers news or photos then we make a point of crediting the source. Gentleman's agreement if you like, but we always respect the work of others. For TMX to take what has been said on here and publish an article about that without credit to the source of the article sucks. As far as the arguments presented in the article against an online Trials forum go, I can't really comment until I've seen it and then I will
  2. I don't buy TMX as I get enough Trials news as it is, but this article has been brought to my attention. Firstly I'd question why TMX are using these forums as a source of news when all content is the copyright (no matter who posted it) of Trials Central and secondly I'd rise to the challenge of why it was unworkable. Once I've read the TMX article I'll be in a better position to respond
  3. There are two ways you can have an image within a message: 1) Have your own photo account elsewhere (Photobucket is popular for this) and simply embed that within a reply by clicking on the link image button when replying and inputting the URL to the image. The link image button is the one with the little tree on it. Please don't ask me why they chose a tree to represent this because I have no idea! 2) Each registered user on these forums is allocated a certain amount of upload space. That allows them to upload their images to Trials Central then "attach" them to their message. On my to-do list is to downgrade that limit for normal members and to upgrade it for Supporters so they have more storage available via Trials Central. Hope that answers things!
  4. I just provide the forums and maintain them. It is the people who post in these forums who make the community. It is not down to me to decide who says what, but to all of you.
  5. What you must understand is if this DID prove to be libellous and I let it stand then I am personally liable (Ref: Godfrey vs Demon - Google for it) Now I know the facts and see the perpetrator is no longer registered on Ebay (whether that's of his own volition or due to the actions of EBay I dont know) I have no objection to his name being posted here. Personally, I used EBay once a couple of years ago and was let down on my very first buy so don't trust it, nor will I ever use it again.
  6. This is a serious allegation and potentially libellous. As a new user with only two posts to your name you better have good, justifiable reason for this. I've searched EBay UK for "RAW clothing", "RAW Trials Clothing", "Trials Jacket", "Trials Pants", "Trials Trousers" and just "raw" and found absolutely nothing to back up this allegation. As such, I've edited your orginal post to remove the name of the person until you provide suitable evidence.
  7. I put mine in my hold luggage Spooky that the Judge's name was Lampkin!
  8. Wonderboy - still seen around occasionally. Left school and went to college. For those who remember his "anti-drink" rantings well.... apparently he discovered drink! Last time I saw him he was wearing a hat pulled down over his face because he got plastered, passed out and his mates shaved off his eyebrows Gas Gas Boy - Dunno. Markyboy - still seen occasionally. Had a kid and the rest is obvious! I was wondering tonight what happened to BetaBasher. I was updating the Trials prediction league and he was doing pretty well then just disappeared both from that and from the forums.
  9. I believe he has. He mentioned something about digital doodahs and thingys for 2006.
  10. Not a criticism, but I should point out that Todotrial are not considered a "rival" website to Trials Central. There's a lot of co-operation between myself and Horacio with me supplying them with photos from events they can't be at and vice versa. I did get the press release from the French Montesa importer, but a) it was in French and I don't do French and B ) there have been problems before with early release of information. As a UK-based site, I'd rather deal with the UK importer and get the info from them in a lingo I can understand!
  11. I think the max file size is 250k. Make it a JPG and under 250k and you should be fine.
  12. Handy free little tool for resizing images... Click me

  14. Well I do have a reasonable collection of war films, but that's a bloke thing and not the answer. I've made a couple of mods to the Scoob, but that amounts to a dump valve and a sweeter sounding back box so that's not the answer either! I don't do stained glass windows, minature steam engines or Corgi toys so they're out. Whoever suggested hill-climbing has obviously never seen me strugle my way up Fersit! Only one person got it right. I take things like this: and thing like this and turn them into things like this 8 and this When I was a kid, because of where we lived, we were often without electricity in winter due to the severity. I loved the smell of the old paraffin lamps we used then and still love it - brings back good memories of a very much mis-spent youth. I got a couple of lamps from my parents and it grew from there. I've got about 12 in perfect condition with about 50 in various states of restoration going from needing loads of work through to nearly done. What I WAS going to post, before I decided it might be a bit of fun for folk to guess, was if anyone had old lamps lying about then I'm open to buying. I'll look at almost anything. I'm mostly into brass paraffin lamps or paraffin barn lanterns if in good condition (seen some rusty buggers recently beyond restoration!), but will also consider old Tilley lamps (especially if wall-mounted) and also old railway lanterns. paul w - I'll be in touch. It doesn't make the winter nights fly by, but despite living within a few miles of a power station, I seem to have a lot of power cuts and it does make me the envy of my neighbours who struggle to find their candles
  15. Okay. I'm home now. Firstly, the support is good and I back the idea totally. I don't really see it as a cop-out. Yes the opportunity was there, but I can understand people being unable to attend. It's a geographically dispersed sport - I know I'd have loved to have gone. Not because I have anything really to add as I'm not a member of a Club and don't ride, but just to say "Hey, I think this is a great idea and I'm supporting it". However, Rugby is a helluva trek for me just to show face. Also, things are tougher business-wise these days than they used to be. There's more pressure on people at work to get results so it becomes harder to take time away and many use what holidays they have to either go to (like me!) or to organise Trials events. I'll talk to John offline about his thoughts and allow him to get input from other members of the T&E Committee. Whilst he has been very active on these forums, there is more than just him involved from the ACU side. They may wish to host or arrange things themselves and, whilst I'd absolutely respect that, Trials Central does, in my opinion, have a good cross-section of representatives and readership from across the UK plus, obviously, the software infrastructure already in place to support this. If it were to go ahead then there are three ways I can handle it within the forums: 1) A forum where all registered users can post. 2) A locked forum with only those in the knowledge of a password can read and post. 3) A forum where all can read, but only those with appropriate permissions can post. My opinions: Option 1) Sucks. A free-for-all would go nowhere. I can picture it now.... "ACU SUX. LOLOLOL!!!!11111ROFL" Option 2) Too secretive. The objective of a forum is to be open, to gain input and to encourage INTELLIGENT (See Option 1!) discussion and debate. Option 3) As Mart would say....PERFECT! Option 3 offers the absolute best solution. Nominated or volunteer delegates and, obviously ACU people, have permission to post. Everybody can read, but if they have anything they want to raise then they do it through their regional representative.
  16. I'm at my folks for the weekend. I'll speak to John when I'm back and take things from there.
  17. I don't see anybody from the NATC standing up to fight their corner. If I did and could potentialy see valid reason to disallow things as they stand then I would. I guess we're lucky, though some may not realise it, in having John as a voice for the Trials community who is prepared to stand up, face the lions den of these forums and be accountable.
  18. Guess that makes you a fool then! Clicky here!
  19. I absolutely back John 100% in his comments. You were all given the opportunity to attend this forum and air your views. The fact it has been cancelled due to a lack of interest, in my opinion, clearly shows the level of complacency that exists within Trials in the UK. How many of you have ever met John? I have and, despite the "ACU are s***" mentality that is more than prevalent, if you ever sat down and actually talked to the guy about Trials in the UK as I have done, you'd realise he's a helluva lot more interested than you may think. If he weren't interested in Trials and, as was inferred, totally interested in road racing, why would he spend so much time compiling a response to the open forum being cancelled? Why would he even bother posting here? If he genuinelly wasn't interested then he wouldn't have taken the time to compose what is an extensive reply. Stop and think about it. He is on your side - you just have to realise that.
  20. It was, until recently solely a 10D I used. I've upgraded, but still have the 10D as a second camera. You never complained about my photos! It is purely the process of resizing them that causes this.
  21. If they're small enough - email to website AT trialscentral.com. I can sort it out. If they're big then YouTube or Google videos and post links. Small is up to 5MB per video emailed seperately. Any bigger than that look to use alternate hosting as suggested.
  22. For those who weren't there, we showed those Kickstart vids in the Trials Central tent at Hawkstone. One of them featured a young rider by the name of John Lampkin. John just happened to be in the Trials Central tent that night. A tad embarrased would probably be an understatement!
  23. I wouldn't say "asking to die", but "accident waiting to happen" springs to mind. I don't have satellite or cable and can't get either so don't know much about the guy. It wasn't till I saw all the tribute vids appearing on the Net I realised how popular he was.
