Not a criticism Marky - just letting you know - since I upgraded the forums you can attach multiple images in the same post. You don't have to do one image per reply any more. :hat:

I contacted Peter via his website in June to point him in the direction of a topic on these forums regarding Kickstart that I thought he might be interested in (I hoped I could persuade him to participate to be honest!) I was amazed to get a reply direct from him saying he'd update his website to point to the thread. I didn't expect him to and never followed it up. I've just checked and he really did. Check out the and an interesting discussion thread link.
I want a Blue Peter badge for that!
BTW, producing a DVD/Video has been looked into and the BBC have the rights to Kickstart and will not release them.
-
Dunno about that. Anybody else thinking of responding, do it offline please!
-
The original? You can't, unfortunately - at least not officially.
-
Blimey - you're keen! According to the Trials Central archives, for 2005 they were available early April.
-
Octagon again. No comment other than useless
-
This adds nothing whatsoever to the topic or the question raised by the original poster. If you can't add anything constructive then say nothing.
-
Big spate of interest from others since you posted and I responded. Obviously folk didn't know this kind of thing was allowed. It adds good content to the site and gives the lads a bit of publicity. I'm all for it.

Is it? Ever thought about the cost of putting something like that on? Yes, it is expensive compared to standing for free on a moor in the freezing cold, but there you don't have venue hire, logistics, the cost of the sections, the same levels of insurance etc etc.
If it was "stupidly expensive" then Sheffield wouldn't be a sell-out year after year - which it is. Personally, I don't see it as "real" Trials but then my introduction to the sport was the SSDT so I'm kinda biased, but it does bring Trials to the masses and can only be good for the sport.
-
Application received and processed. It also prompted applications from two other riders so thanks!
-
No time restriction, but better whilst it's new news. I tend not to let old news go up. It's not open to any Tom, Dick or Harry e.g. Kinell couldn't register and post his latest endeavours However, given our youth promotion policy, I'm happy to let these guys use the site for a bit of free publicity. We do it for Wiggy & Ross Danby. I see no reason Jack couldn't be included.
Fill in the standard form here as a rider representative and I'll set up an account for you to post your news yourself. You're then free to post updates and results as you wish throughout the year.

This topic would have been front page news if it had been submitted. Don't hide things away in the forums. A small percentage of Trials Central overall readers bother with the forums. If it's up front and getting coverage then there's more chance of attracting sponsorship.
-
So - how do I get more sidecar Trial news on the front page? It's as worthy as any other Trial and maybe even more so as it's a bit different.

I presume you mean September? This is my personal Calendar as it stands, but the FIM being the FIM I have to say all rounds are provisional and subject to change. I've got them down as weekends so I know where I am. Japan and USA are the only two-day events although 29th July will see Trials Central Party In The Park II.
Do NOT book holidays based on this!!! (Ass covered!)
Weekend of 1st/2nd April - Spain
Weekend of 8th/9th April - Portugal
Weekend of 20/21st May - Tennessee, USA
Weekend of 3rd/4th June - Japan
Weekend of 24th/25th June - France
Weekend of 1st/2nd July - Italy
Weekend of 8th/9th July - Poland
Weekend of 29th/30th July - Hawkstone, UK
Weekend of 2nd/3rd September - Andorra
Weekend of 23rd/24th September - Belgium
-
Yup. Always the first Monday in May - which is cool because the first Monday in May is a national holiday here in the UK so you only have to take four days out of your annual leave to attend
-
It's a fantastic idea and I don't want to rain on your parade, but I can see two potential problems -
1) The BBC still own the rights to Kickstart and presumably the name is their copyright too. Calling it something else might work, but the Kickstart name would be what you really wanted - that and the theme tune are what invokes the memories.
2) Back in the Kickstart days there were far fewer tree-huggers. Trials is not looked on in the same light as it was back then.
What I think COULD be very successful would be a series of "Urban Trials" - like the Red Bull event Jake organised a few years back in Manchester. I wasn't there myself due to SSDT commitments at the time, but by all accounts it was highly successful. I know it's not REAL Trials - sorta more an Indoor Trial outdoors, but you just have to look at the success of Sheffield every year to see that taking Trials to the people rather than expect them to stand about on a cold moor is the way to spread the word.
Just my 2p worth. :hat:

John - once again, I must thank you for taking the time to respond. You not only do so regularly, but do so at length. I know for a fact that your responses are appreciated by many on this site. You don't just enter the lions den here - you firmly shove your head between it's jaws! :santa1:
-
At very least it's provoked some activity in the forums in what is traditionally a quiet time of year Beave - you watching? You could learn a trick or two
-
No Brian. That's because no other bugger will talk to you

I think it's more than apparent that AtomAnt has a great passion for supporting Youths in Trials. However, it's not just Ross and it's not just Youths, but Trials in general. From his Excel Results spreadsheet to the Breidden Hills website to the many hundreds of hours he's put in working away behind the scenes on this site (which will become apparent soon enough) the man works tirelessly for the sport - and all without a penny in reward. We could be done with more like him.
I know for a fact that if I said next week that this site was going subscription based and it would cost you a measly tenner a year (or 19.2p a week) for full access with all proceeds going to develop the sport, 99% of you would walk away. That, unfortunately, is Trials.

I spent last weekend in the Lake District. There was a car rally on. Nothing fancy - not world Championship type stuff. The entry fee for ONE DAY of sport was
