That's one thing that photos can't do - show the sheer scale of these things. That was the section Trials Central sponsored. I got to it Friday evening to put the banners up, and just stood looking at that sheer face thinking "holy ****"!!!

I believe the guy from Octagon was there. They still have video rights to the Outdoor.

No, the rules (cut and pasted) say "Only riders aged over 16 years old and less than 18 years old (or who will be 18 years old during the year of the event) will be accepted to participate in the FIM Youth Trial Cup 125cc.". Nowhere do they mention that those under 18 are permitted to ride in the Junior Cup.

Dabill was born 17/4/86 so is over 18 and automatically eligible for the World Class "Trial World Championship: 18 years old and holders of a valid driver
-
I've just been through the rules and dispensations to ride out of class due to winning are not mentioned. All they say is:
052.7.1.1 Age of riders
Trial World Championship: 18 years old and holders of a valid driver

""In Junior Kickstart I'll never forget the young lad who fell on the 'pole-over-the-hole'. He hurt his pride and almost destroyed his manhood, but the ensuing rush of St John's Ambulance men into the pit, where they all fell over, was a piece of television hysteria! (and history!)."

How about a Kickstart "Where Are They Now?" reunion programme. That would go down a storm.

There was this lad by the name of Lampkin. I heard he did pretty well

I also learned that Mr. AS IOW doesn't always dress like a penguin!

Amos is often overlooked, but is one of the top guys in Trials today. He works flat out from arriving to finishing. He'll help put the trucks together, he'll help the mechanics, he's there when Dougie or Fuji need him then he'll sprint off to the next section, he's everywhere and then at the end he's helping pack up. God knows where he gets his energy, but every world round I've been at this year he's always there to look after the guys and do tons more besides.

Thanks to Mr Burnicle (who admitted he'd been doing the same!) - it's pronounced "Day-bill", not "Da-bill".

And he was still on a 125...

Keep the feedback coming folks. This was a first for the organisers and feedback helps make it bigger and better next year.
I know the toilet thing was a problem, but the number of people that turned up who hadn't pre-booked was way more than they expected. It didn't help that people were stealing toilet rolls from them either...

Just home after the mad dash up the M6/M74. What an absolutely cracking Trial - and I'm not saying that because it was in the UK. Some may notice there are less photos taken by me published than normal. That's partly because tree cover doesn't make for particularly good photos, but mostly because I was too busy enjoying watching it for real rather than through a camera lens!
It's a real shame this was not a two-day event. The upside is it's already in the FIM calendar for next year, but again as a one-day event (all world rounds apart from the overseas ones (US & Japan)) will be one day events next year
Over 8000 enjoyed it. Those that missed it, missed a belter. Theres a load of video clips Kinell took that I'll publish tomorrow evening.

He as done exactly that. Watch this space.

As far as I know you can pay on arrival. I've not been told otherwise. Last I heard, over 400 had booked camping so my advice would be to get there early!
-
Outdoor dates have been released for some rounds. Nothing on Indoor yet and I get my stuff direct from the FIM. I'll ask them at Hawkstone when we can expect dates. Watch this space!

I'll have the Prawn cocktail followed by......

The TC tent is for out of hours only. There will be some of us there on Friday night and folk are more than welcome to come down and join us, but the main get-together is Saturday night. We're deliberately placed well away from the paddock and family camping which will be at the top of the field to avoid disturbing anyone.
There will be beer tents elsewhere - don't worry!

Thanks for replying John.
As far as my point goes, this is about the Youth Championship, not anything else. I do, indeed get Novogar updates from Mick, but all I get is Championship standings. That would be nice to publish alongside results, but since (in many cases) I don't get results, I don't bother just publishing the standings. It would be like doing half a job! Very often the only results that are published are the top few posted in here by somebody who was there! Brit Championship, same thing. I pride myself on fast news - if i was getting it I'd be publishing it! However, as I say, this is about the Youths and getting their names out there and (hopefully!) noticed.
Anyway, that's an aside to the original topic which I'll now go back to (and try and be a bit more constructive this time!!
I agree with Bikespace's point that the Club should do a bit of promotion. Take The Manx Two-Day - always plenty information up front, world rounds - always an event preview article for every round, Scott - loads of build-up info, SSDT - same thing (and there are many more). Sell your Trial. If you submit a preview article then I'm happy to publish it. Maybe get some buy-in from the local tourist authority and promote it as a family weekend away. Big it up. Maybe find a sponsor who'd pay for a prize that's useful and relevant like Dougie or Saunders Training and draw randomly from all who enter. There's all sorts that could be done.

Nah mate - I just nicked it off the ukworldtrial website

Don't know where the toilets will be, but there WILL be some!
