Absolutely not a problem if there is demand. Anyone else think this would be a useful (and used) addition?
-
General Anthony McAuliffe. What do I win? Nuts?
-
TC Supporters should no longer see these, but normal forum members now will.
-
Damn. It's not working the way it's supposed to. Have switched off for registered members, but non-supporters till I get it sorted out.

The facility was removed as part of my investigations into the intermittent speed problems. I could see a high number of database inserts being created by the Reputation system which includes the "Like" functionality so disabled it. Once I get to the bottom of the speed problems I'll switch it back on.

There's loads of them. A very funny read to while away a bit of time

For those who don't read the front page, looks like it's all kicking off. Allegedly Shirty altered a section which cost Michael a five and the championship title.
Shirty denies it - report here
Malcolm Rathmell steps in and says he was, indeed, cheating - report here

The front page of Trialsads was updated on Friday to carry a warning following several reports of this individual trying to scam users, but these attempts are a common occurrence and there is little I can do to stop them.
This is one of the contact emails:
Full Name: Marvin John
Email Address: johnmarvin53@yahoo.com
Message: Hello Seller, I want to buy this 2005 Sherco 290,and need to know how much are you asking for it? and please i can only pay using paypal, and after payments has been made i will arrange for pick up of the 2005 Sherco 290,Email - johnmarvin53@yahoo.com
Have a nice day,
Marvin John
There are several things in this contact that should immediately make anyone suspicious.
1) Name listed as Marvin John yet email address says John Marvin
2) If in doubt about a potential buyer, Google the contact email address. Scammers don't use a new email address for every attempt so it's highly likely they've been flagged attempting to scam someone, somewhere else. Searching for johnmarvin53@yahoo.com shows many results relating to attempted scams.
3) Whenever the item is mentioned in the contact the description is always precisely what you put as item title - in both cases here "2005 Sherco 290". This is down to the scam emails being automatically generated.
4) No questions around the condition of the item. you'd expect any potential buyer to want to know what kind of condition the item is in.
5) If your Ad lists a price then you'd have to ask yourself why the person contacting needs "to know how much are you asking for it?" Again, down to these emails being automatically generated.
6) Only pay by PayPal. Why?
7) If you are in the UK, as most of our sellers are, the use of "Have a nice day" should raise a red flag. Whilst common in the US, it is not a phrase used here (thank God!)
Finally, though not related to the contact email, the "You pay a courier and I'll over-pay you" thing is the most common version of these scams. Why would anyone fork out money on behalf of a complete stranger without first having received CLEARED payment themselves? Also, in the case of the above where it is a bike for sale, would any genuine buyer really want to fork out the kinds of money involved without having even seen the bike?

No prizes for guessing where that came from. Thought he might have given up on the rumourmongering after Dibs tore him a new one for spreading rumours, but clearly not
-
He maybe thought Halifax, Nova Scotia rather than Halifax, UK. Tried Splatshop?

I've checked and you're not registered for events/news since the site was re-vamped. The calendar is FAR easier now and there are tutorials provided to help you. I'll PM you instructions on how to upgrade your account. The major change is the addition of Google maps. Makes it far easier for spectators and those interested to find where events are being held.
Most of who? Most of who you see post here? TC is far more than a forum. I think forum regulars who come straight here for their daily fix sometimes forget that. Trials Central, across the entire site, gets an average 45,000 unique visitors a month. The majority, by far, are lurkers so there's no way of knowing who are riders and who are not.
I think part of your problem is geographical. East Fife is not exactly noted for Trials (BTW, I'm in West Fife and it's no different at this end of the Kingdom) and there are a lack of outlets (e.g. dealers) where you can publicise your club. You're pretty much relying on word of mouth which just isn't going to work.
How about using Crail Raceway to promote your club? No shortage of petrolheads, both two and four-wheeled, there. Get yourselves a wee gazebo, set up a couple of basic man-made sections (there are a number of topics on here with ideas for making home-made obstacles) around it and do some demos when they have events on and hand out flyers. Doesn't have to be anything fancy, just enough to get people interested - make the flyers play on how cheap Trials is compared to other forms of motorsport. Could also do events at Knockhill. It's not a million miles away from where you are and again, a captive audience. People will want to look at and know about "these funny bikes with no seats" as chances are most will have never seen a Trials bike before.
Because of where your Club is, you can't sit and hope people find you, not in such a tiny sport. You have to get out there and publicise if you want to grow.
-
Do you put your events on the TC calendar? I don't recall any request from East Fife for publishing rights. I didn't realise how popular it was until there was a riot when it changed to the new calendar and all the old events disappeared.
-
Was wondering that myself. With the criteria given - inspect the day before, two day event, two laps per day, no walking the sections, no minder in section without permission, it could only be a world round.
-
Ben Hemmo is team manager
-
You could even get a world championship ride and with the way entries are declining, five every section and still be in the top 10 in the world
-
I love these little gems that pop up on here every so often.
More people need to say they like this though, the man does have a FBG after all...
-
What position did Mairi Jenkins finish in then? ;o) (keep it clean boys....!)
I'm not quite sure how TC supports this these days as we don't even have a curry since you moved in with the inner circle , but I'll PM you a code to put a premium Ad on trialsads.com
-
Topic moved AGAIN. Please post bike-specific topics in the relevant bike forum as per the bold, red text on the General forum ONLY START A TOPIC IN GENERAL TRIALS TALK IF THERE IS NOT A MORE SUITABLE FORUM. Why not? In all the years I've been shooting, from Club Trials to World Championship, not one rider has ever complained about the use of flash. It's somewhat of a necessary evil due to peaked helmets. Nothing worse than getting a nice shot and then finding the rider's face is in shadow.

Nowhere online. There will probably be a couple with a follow-up press story. Rest will be kept by G2F for future promo use. Might be able to get hold of what you want via them

It's really very easy. Click on More Reply Options. At the bottom of the text box there is Attach Files. Browse to the file you want, click Attach This File. Once it's uploaded there is a link appears to insert it in your post. That will put a little bit of code in the text box. Don't change or delete that. Add your Reply and photo added.
-
Use Full Reply rather than quick reply. Click on More Reply Options, bottom right. Attach file at bottom and simple. There are file size and dimension restrictions though I can't remember what they are.
