  1. I AM lightened up! You're not about to get banned. This is absolutely not that kind of Forum and never has been. I can probably count the people who have been permanently banned in the past four years on less than two hands (if we leave Lane's aliases out of things...) and I get the p*** taken out of me by regulars as much as anybody. You have now clarified things. You didn't actually ask on here and took what you read on an Internet Forum as good advice without digging into your own personal position. What might suit another might not suit you - physique, experience, location and type of sections you might ride etc etc. If you're happy then fine, but fully expect others to take the p***. If you read a Forum that said it's great to touch goats would you do it?
  2. Why you asking me? You want something fun, I can recommend Spearmint Rhino and Crazy Horse Too in Vegas
  3. I didn't build either of them. Andrea did.
  4. I know you're only kidding as I know your sense of humour! John helps pay for Trials Central, Jake gets me to the world rounds. I actually think it's great we all work together for the good of the sport. It's something you may well see more of.
  5. Barry - thanks for bringing this back up to the top again - I knew there was a topic somewhere I meant to reply to, but couldn't think what the hell it was! Right - Regional Forums are an absolute possibility, but I would not create them unless I thought they would be used. They needn't necessarily add to the front page Forum index list (which is long enough as it is IMO) as they could be created as "sub-forums" of the UK section (or same for US section if there was enough interest). Basically click on, for example, UK Trials talk and you'd then be presented with a general trials talk forum and sub-forums detailing regions. The other issue is people tend not to look at the forum list and just post everything and anything in General Trials Talk. I am moving topics several times daily to the correct Forum e.g. UK-specific stuff belongs in UK Trials Talk. I suspect the same would happen with sub-forums for regions. Everybody would just post in UK Trials Talk. I can do what you ask, but would need to see a fair amount of support to set it up.

    Thanks Doug

Are you going to Bangor then given it's your neck of the woods? I'm sure I could arrange a signed photo of you with Dougie
  7. Beta UK are actually a sponsor of Trials Central - and a very generous one at that. I agreed with John that I wouldn't put his Ads up until he got his website re-done so it's his trumpet I'm blowing for finally pulling the finger out. I've only been telling him the website was **** for the past two years
  8. Beta UK have had a makeover Soooo much better than the previous website
  9. I have plenty! I'm just very protective of TC and don't like seeing people blame it or its users for things they're not guilty of!
  10. I've no reason to snipe and certainly no reason to point score. I own the site - what could I possibly have to gain? My concerns arise from you stating you got bad or incorrect advice on this website. "I was completely new to trials before i bought a Montesa 4RT on the recommendations of owner and people on this site about a year ago." I cannot find any topic or post where you sought the advice of Trials Central users regarding your choice of bike. You joined these forums on January 22nd 2007 and made your first post on January 23rd 2007 stating "Just bought a new (well new to me) 4RT." The advice given on this site is, in my extensive experience, pretty damned good and is given freely by a friendly and knowledegable community - particularly when it comes to newcomers to the sport as everyone wants to encourage newcomers. By saying you got bad or incorrect advice on Trials Central when it appears you never even asked, understandably, annoys me.
  11. Having run this site for 4 years now, every time I have seen anyone ask for guidance as to which bike, the advice has been to try as many as possible and see what suits the individual. I'm afraid you've nobody to blame, but yourself for not doing so.
  12. I've not heard anything and have no insider info to offer, but Dougie + Beta 2-stroke = tried and tested winning forumula. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just my opinion.
  13. I'll just merge your previous topic with this one, shall I? You already know the complainant is a Council member. I'm sure it will all pan out and news will be published when it becomes available.
  14. My mission next year is to get Wiggy's waterboy known as Mrs Doubtfire on the world circuit.

But not till you've sorted the ads on the TC Forums A CMS can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. When I first built TC I wanted one that was as simple and basic as possible for Clubs to be able to post their own news. That was fine back then and it's done a perfect job, but things have changed a lot since those days and I'm now actively looking at alternatives. I expect to start a beta testing programme for selected news contributors in the New Year with a total revamp of the front page/news element of the site. TC at present (as well as Richmond Motor Club and Yeadon & Guiseley) are based on a CMS called Absolut Engine, though the TC one has been hacked to pieces by me. It is very basic (or was, I've not looked at how it's developed for ages), but is very easy to customise and re-skin to suit your site. I use Joomla for the Impreza Drivers Club website and it's pretty much all singing, all dancing with a massive user base. It's probably overkill for a Club site TBH. The one Ian mentions, I have used a previous incarnation of it. He swears by it, but I didn't find it overly friendly to get to grips with.
  17. Ian will be fixing the positioning at some point.
  18. An Englishman decided to write a book about famous churches around the world. For his first chapter he decided to write about British churches so he bought a train ticket and took a trip to London, thinking that he would work his way up the country from South to North. On his first day he was inside a church, taking photographs, when he noticed a golden telephone mounted on the wall with a sign that read, "
  19. Cross-posting the same topic in multiple forums is not permitted. I've moved this to general so it does not get a Montesa bias.
  20. Watch yourself with warranties on European imports. It's not so much an issue as a hassle getting hold of warranty book. I can name countless Scooby drivers (myself included) who have bought European imports from the likes of Motorpoint then had no end of hassle getting hold of the service/warranty book and have manually had to register the car with Subaru UK to ensure warranties are honoured. I can't speak for other brands, but I also found out that my last Impreza, coming from Malta had one less coat of underseal on it. It's not deemed necessary over there because they don't have to salt the roads. It also came with no alarm and no locking wheelnuts. I had to get them sorted seperately. Check that you are getting a car that is complete because the savings might not be quite what they first seem.
  21. Good point. Daresay you remember the very first prototype
  22. Jake and I went to do some shopping in Andorra earlier this year. It was amazing to see the number of clothes shops selling Bultaco-branded gear. I did think of bringing some back and using them as competition prizes on TC.
