Thanks Bruce, I will check it out.
-
it's a 98 txt 270. I have some free movement on the lever but not as much as you say. I will slacken it off a little more.
-
I'm suffering with clutch drag, not alot, but enough to make the bike want to creep a little. I've replaced the clutch plates, fitted a new push rod, bled the clutch, and filled with 5 - 30 oil. Still it drags. I'm going to remove the clutch plates and the centre drum but don't know how the outer basket comes off(going to check for groves on fingers) Can anyone help?
-
-
What will I need by way of lights, speedo, horn etc?
-
Many thanks to everyone who contributed. With the insurance coming in at only
-
Thanks for the info, I must admit it does seem a lot of agro to sort it all out.
The reason I wan't to reg. it is because there is some land only a half mile away where I can practice. May be not worth it !!!
-
do I need to insure it and send the certificate, or can I insure it after I've got a V5? After I get it registered I will then need an MOT. I've heard people talk of daytime MOT's, can anyone explain? What will the bike require for the mot, lights, brake light, horn etc?
Thanks.
-
Have you got any contact details, I'm looking for insurance on my TXT 270.
-
No, I've no paperwork at all.
-
-
Can anyone tell me how to go about getting my gasser registered? What will I need to do etc.
Also, where can I get insurance?
Thanks.
-
Thanks for the info. I have put the plates in the way you said.
I did notice the marks but didn't know they needed to be put on in a special way!!! I will have to take it apart again and line them up.
I have run the engine for a short while, will this damage anything?
-
I've had to replace the clutch plates on my TXT 270 but I've not sure in what order they go on.
I have 7 fibre plates and 6 steel plates and 1 half steel and half fibre plate.
Looking at it carefully I think the half/half plate goes on last with the fibre outermost !!!! When I started the bike up and put it in gear I almost wheelied through the back of the shed. Is this the correct way
-
got my black tube on order
-
Thanks, I must wipe the sleep out of my eyes
-
When you say black tube, what does that mean? Yes, I am a very novice rider but I'm fairly clued up on the mechanics side of things. I have read what you said about retarding the timing a touch, may give that a try. Thanks.
-
Having just rebuilt the motor on my first trials bike, TXT 270, I find the responce is very sudden. Being a total novice this makes it difficult to ride.( my limited experiance ) Having read a thread about flywheel weights and slow action throttles I think this may help, but which one? Fitting a slow throttle seems straight forward enough but what is envolved in fitting flywheel weights and at what cost.
-
Yet another silly question from me. How do you top up the gear oil? I can't see a filler for the life of me. Also, what grade should I use? TXT 270 1998.
-
I know this is a bit of a daft question but what is the capacity of my TXT 270?
-
Thanks chaps, certainly plenty to consider. I once owned one of those Honda Pilot buggies and had alot of engine seizures with that. I would have the cylinder bored and new piston etc. but it would seize quite quickly. The only method that seemed to work was to run the engine until hot then let it cool completely ( as stated above ) and repeat this 3 - 4 times. Then drive it carefully for a short period gradually building the revs. This method worked with the pilot but I don't think that had a plated bore.
-
I'm having my txt 270 cylinder replated and fitting a new piston, rings and little end bearing. What is the best method to run the motor in?
-
thanks bruce, thats one less problem to put right. Have checked, they're all tight.
-
Picked my '98 txt 270 up yesterday and I noticed that the front disc moved on the bolts. Is this a floating disc or is there a problem?
-
only picked the bike up today, paid
