Hi mate
I have had a 2011 280 Gasgas & two 250 gassers
I found the 250s to be a bit smoother off a closed throtle and a tiny bit more manageable in the sections. But the difference wasn't huge tho.
I'm fairly new to trials so my throttle control isn't the best yet lol , but I'm working on that
My 280 had a flywheel weight & slow action throtle tube and I never rode it without them both fitted so not sure how the standard bike felt .
But it never got me into trouble , it just felt as if things were happening a bit to fast for my,
My fault tho, due to inexperience and a lack of talent .
Hope this helps

Hi mate
I've just bought a 2015 250 racing off a good mate of mine who looked after it
I've just had my second ride on it today, just practicing n messin about and it's the best money I've ever spent
I'm a poor standard rider to be fair, but I love it !!
If it's clean n tidy Take the plunge and get it bought
I love my new bike better than anything I've ever ridden to date
It's each to there own , but I've no regrets about buyin a Gasgas at all

Hi mate
I've just got the same model, and year as you have, and it's my first gasser.
I've been told to first do as slow soft kick, as if your not tryin to start it
then find the top of the stroke with the kickstart and just put ur foot through it .....
I haven't got it all worked out , but it's getting easier every time I go out....
Stick without mate lol

Hi wet feet
Some great pics of the trial,
Seen u at the event on Sunday, will there b any more pics coming on here or anywhere else I can view them mate?
-
Hi , I couldn't agree more with totty, warden law is great to start off with , and practice but its nothin like a propper trial..I'm new also and only done a couple of propper trials and struggled at them.
I love practicing , and was there in the snow last Sunday, just got a new er bike and couldn't wait to give it a go,
-
Cheers fellas
Dnt get me wrong I'm absolutely lovin every minute of it, well other than when I get stuck and needed help to get the bike out the section,? that was embarising and just wish I'd taken it up a couple of decades ago , when I was younger, fitter , more flexible n didn't bruise so easily ha ha
I'm enjoying the practice sessions a whole lot better that the trial itself but I'm sure that will change over the next few months.
Wot is a surprise, is how friendly most of the riders are n there's no cockiness or edge like there is on the sports bike scene, everyone is really helpfull , I was even gettin good advice from a 14 year old lad rite up to a pensioner observer lol
Can't wait for the weekends to come round now and even the results to be posted on here , even tho there's not much to look forward to there like .
Think I mite try n get out twice a week from now on so I'm gettin more time on the bike coz once a week just isn't feedin my addiction ....?
-
Well my mate , who has helped me out a hell of a lot , told me to " man the **** up n stop moaning" and I think he might b right !!?
-
Well I think I've bought the wrong bike to b homest, it's a 4 stroke beta 250 n feels like it's made of granite at times , I'm only short n I'm struggling with it a bit,, much as it's more than capable I just dnt think it's not the bike for me so thinkin of gettin a 250 gasgas . I dnt think it will help me get any better to be fair tho , I just need to relax on the bike n get more time on it
I luv it tho, after 20 year ridin road bikes I'm findin that there's not much cross over from one to the other ha ha
And to be honest I think my lack of fitness is big issue, because I'm spent after one lap dragging the bike when I should be riding instead . It's sooo much more hard work bit I'm hopin the more I ride then things will start to begin to klick n become second nature
I can't get any worse that's for sure ha ha ?
-
Hi all..Well I've just done my second trial and it's was a nightmare ,,,, I could only manage 2 of the 4 laps? just ran out of steam lol. I've done a few practice sessions n thort I was gettin a bit better but it's just not the same ha ha ...
9 of the 10 sections were in a river and I was spooked by that so didn't do very well but was I'm pressed by just about everone else's ridin on the day, especially the 14 year old kids who make it look sooo easy.. Got some great advice of the observers n other riders which was a great help but lack of ability n talent on my part showed. My mate came along who has loads of experience n had to drag my bike out of two of the sections.. How embarrassing ...
But I absolutely luv it .....
It's addictive !!!???

Hi mate, I'm in the same boat as you , just a few weeks ahead tho, I went to warden law twice just to get a grip of the bike, then jumped into a trial n struggled big time...I've been to edmondsley near sacriston to practice , it's a great place to build ur confidence ? n found I've come on a wee bit so gona try another trial. I bought a 2008 beta 250 four stroke n thinkin of changing coz it's a bit heave for me as I'm only short , but it's been a great bike to get to grips with the sport and I'm lovin it so far ?
-
Cheers mags
It's not running until I've ridden it for a little while and I'd say it's on about 1/2 of the time I'm riding but it was my first time on a trials bike n I was just pootling round. Lol
I've just give it a good clean and a lot if the Finns on the rad were bent over so I wonder if this is reducing the air flow through the radiator ??? . I've tinkered with them and straighened them as much as I can .Sound like it could of been a bit of that too maybe.
It's my second time out this Sunday practicing so ill see if it's any better.
It's a bit of a bugga to get started from cold and it's kicked back a foe times but I'm puttin that down to my inexperience n the bike lettin me know this ha ha ??
Cheers for ur help tho ..
-
Hi all, had my first ever run out ever!!! it's a beta 250 four stroke !! just practicing mind, but noticed the fan running most of the time.
Is this the norm ? ??
-

Got to learn the basics like usin a kick start for one thing lol !!! , so scottysherco ill probly see u there at some point then , and I'm not lookin forward to the fallin off bit ha ha ??. Just loaded the bike for the first time so here we go .......

Hi all, just thort I would introduce myself , I've just taken the plunge n bought my first trials bike, it's a 2008 beta 250 four stroke .
The lad I bought it off was really helpfull and even dropped it off for me, and gave me advice when I couldn't start it the next day lol
I've had a few trips up and down the street and am defo out of my depth.. At 43 am I too old to learn ? I've had 20 years on the black stuff on sports bikes , but I dnt think it's gona help me any ha ha.
I've blagged a lend of a mates van this Sunday, and if my new helmet n boots arrive ill b wobbling around warden law this weekend, so god help me !!!
No doubt I will b askin loads of silly newbie questions so please bear with me lol ??
