UPDATE: Got the time to mount some new tires, finish putting things back together and getting this Can-Am 310 running again! The HIRO seems to love to start and a quick test ride around the yard proves she stills chugs nicely. Waiting on a new front brake cable, then will give her a solid tryout!!! ENJOY!
A little paint and some patience... Still lots to do, but my Can-Am project is coming along nicely. More photos to follow, once I find the time to do the work! So happy to find such a shiny piston in this Hiro motor!!!
Well, I finally took some sound advice from this group, spent a few days (months) hunting the globe, but today I swapped out my top triple clamp to move the bars a bit forward. It's not a major change, but I could feel the difference in the first ride around the yard! Amazed how such a small thing can make a big change in the bike's handling.
My thanks to all the smart people out there! Appreciate you sharing your wisdom.
Ask the seller if he has a spare flywheel side casing as it looks like the one on the bike has been repaired after a derailed chain damaged it. Not a big deal as they do come up for sale but a good one won't be cheap.
I'd try to work out what sort of final costs you'll have once finished. Parts soon add up and there's always unexpected extras.
Turns out the seller had an extra NOS frame stashed away. And it's NOT hacked up, either!!! So working on a way to get this bike and put it all back together again, nice and proper. Thanks for the advice and encouragement! Two red bike might look nice together!
About $1,000 shipped. Not cheap, at least for me. Patience is a virtue I am working on... And with all the shared wisdom around here, I am starting to get the feeling there are better bikes out there just waiting for me. Plus, I still have my Can-Am 240! And I just thought all the cool kids were missing frame bottoms!
When you have too much time on your hands, you break out a wire wheel and start stripping paint! Decided to see how a natural metal pipe would look on this bike. I kinda like it!
Might need to measure the piston, just to be sure. I sent this info to an Ossa friend of mine and perhaps he can help. Will keep you posted! Pretty Ossa, for sure!
It's actually pretty easy to do. On my frame there was a hole already pre drilled and this is my start point. This hole is also the central point of the left hand brake pivot shaft. I used 25mmx4mm bar clamped to the frame in line with the bend on the swingarm bracket and drill m8 holes. Once drilled just bolt up making sure the bar and bend are lined up and tack weld the nuts to the frame. A hole needs to be drilled and tapped into the brake pivot shaft not to deep though. The length and final peg hieght is for you to decide. I think mine is about 30mm back but the height is similar as I'm on the short side. Hope it makes sense mate
Best carb choice for a Fantic 240

Might as well get everyone's opinion on this... My carb is probably beat, and thinking about getting a new one, rather than a rebuild. Thoughts?
Thanks!
