I have been looking to see what clubs are on the go and have looked at the above along with dunfermline mcc and lanarkshire mcc, to be fair they are all within easy reach, i have been speaking to willie gilespie at dunfermline mcc as i had a job done on my swing arm by ORM+, but i will look into the clubs more when the bike is rebuilt.

New addition to my cota collection, photo's in the Montesa forum under cota swing arm topic.

Here is the one i bought two weeks ago. This one is now stripped down and the frame is at the powder coaters, tank seat unit is next for repainting, front forks stripped for rebuild all other parts cleaned or renewed as required. Will post up photo's of rebuild as it starts.

Here is the latest edition to the Cota 247 collection. Picked this one up on sunday, a bit of a gamble as i had not seen it before i made the 300 mile round trip to buy it! The bike is running great but it cosmetically it is a ruff one. I want to change the seat/tank unit to the trials one as this one has the trail tank/seat unit with the larger seat.

Would have to get them to confirm the inner diameter of the bush, i think the cota 247 spindle is 12mm diameter, don't know about other models though.

Agree with above and it has to be cheaper to produce online, or try a online down load to start with to test the market.

Hi wobbler, just spoke to a guy this evening and i am off up the top end of Scotland to pick up a 1978 Cota 247 on sunday morning, talk about luck or what, this one is also a runner and by all accounts needs the cosmetics done and the usual wear and tear stuff, tyres, shocks and mud guards etc. I will try and post up some pictures when i can and figure out how to. I am picking up my swing arm tomorrow, so i will have a chance to see what may or may not fit as far as roller bearings etc, will keep posting with results. John.

Had a wee look and found a engineering shop in Glasgow that might fit the bill.

Thanks Wobbler, found a place in Spain that can do me a spindle for swing arm, I just have to learn to speak spanish and we are sorted . Also have the chance of picking up another 1978 Cota 247 at the week end, just waiting on a reply from the seller. Interested in the electronic ignition my self. Cheers John.

Looks like the newer model might have to wait as i have the chance of another 1978 cota 247, will know more by the weekend.

Hi Wobbler, did you use the same swing arm spindle with the nylon bushes?, i have had to cut off my spindle to remove the swing arm, so will need a new spindle when i rebuild, was wondering if anyone knows of a spindle that will fit say from another model or bike. John.

Hi cub200, sorry not the guy that you know, but i was riding trials bikes in the mid 1970's.

Only cosmetics, the motor is sound, frame powder coated , tank seat unit repainted, new seat, bars, chain and sprockets, tyres, mudguards etc.

Like your thinking! Going to do that myself with the twinshock when it is built back up.

Hello every one, just joined the forum and want to say Hi, I have just bought a 1979 Montesa Cota 247 and i am attempting to relive my youth at 51 years of age. The bike is stripped down for restoration as i type this, it was complete and running lovely when i picked it up last week. The frame, swing arm and side stand are ready to go to the powder coaters and the shopping list for new parts will start next week when i return from holiday. I am looking forward to getting involved in the forum and hope to pick up useful information and tips regarding the bike and getting back to riding trials after a 30 year lay off. Cheers John.
