  1. I put one strap around the swing arm and through the rear loop in the rack.

Another strap between the bash plate and the sump and through the front loop in the rack

I put a strap around the top of the forks and attach to the car (the strap goes inside the car via the hatchback)

Never had a problem with it, even on my Ford Fiesta!

I could post a picture if that would help

  3. Thanks for the advice Robin

Did't realise about the toe in, subframe and the stronger spring

I actually want to carry on doing some solo riding as well which could be a bit of an issue if the spring needs changing as well.

When I eventually get to ride sorry drive the thing, my son will be the passenger he's a small 13 do you think the spring will need updating yet?

I'm not far away from Jam Sport so I'll get up there some time, and try and get to Sidcup on 29th as well.

Barry yes once I know how the thing will connect to the bike I'll be giving it a satin black/carbon fibre look to match the rest of the bike.

Thanks for the interest and advice again

    Cheers

  4. Thanks for the replies guys

Today I started to make a bracket which will mount on the left foot peg so I think I'm OK there now.

Robin, the sub frame at the front I can see how to pick up the front engine bolt, but does the it use the large hole in the frame for the cables etc. or is a new holw drilled ?

Any chance of some photos of how yours is mounted?

Also are you doing the Sidcup sidecar trial as I might get down to have a look.

  5. After observing the sidecars at the Inter Centre team trial I thought I'd give it a go with my son as it look's fun

I've bought a trials sidecar from ebay and now want to go about fitting it to my Y2k Sherco 290.

Has anyone got any pictures of how a sidecar should be mounted to a Sherco frame?

I'm puzzled as to how the lower mount point should be near the footpeg. I'm assuming the left foot peg is left in place?

Thanks in advance for any advice or pictures

  6. Atom love the look of the bike.

I assume you had to buy new stickers to apply once you did the paint job?

Did that include tank stickers as well or is that painted?

    How much are the stickers?

I'm asking as I am thinking of giving my Y2K 290 a new look getting the frame powder coated black and the 06 stickers would set it off nicely

    Cheers

  7. My Y2k 290 is looking a bit tired (a bit like the rider)

I have seen big Benny Ayres has had his 04 or 05 frame powder coated black and it looks very good.

I was think of doing this as well and then revamping the graphics to match.

Does any one know if the 06 graphics and/or plastics would fit on a Y2k?

Are the graphics on the 06 tank stickers or a paint job?

  8. Hi Steve

I'm a member or the Normandy trials club I help with TVTC trials run in the south east usually round the Guildford area I know its a bit of a trek but not to bad.

I'm based in Egham and can normally get to the trials in around 30 - 40 minutes if the M25 is behaving itself!

Check the following for more info

  9. If you mean the place on the corner of the M25 and M3 its still there and used by a youth MX club.

The little oval is still there and my son did a few wobbly laps there a few years back.

Its also next to a sewage works and across the road from a recycling centre so the place gets a bit smelly :)

  10. Just put my Y2K 290 back together replacing the main bearings, piston rings, seals etc. fired it up and took it round the garden, running OK and no leaks but I noticed a rattling noise, when I pull in the clutch it goes, let the clutch out and its there, I dont think the clutch basket was that worn.

It's not that loud and may have done it before the rebuild but was drowned out by the noisey main bearings.

Any ideas guys, does any one else's bike do it?
