  1. Fraid I'm not that clever I'm afraid sorry. The weight is a band of steel the full depth/width of the flywheel approx. 2-5mm thick with holes in it (I'm guessing to balance it). The welds are equally spaced and exactly the same length on the outer face as you look at it fitted..
  2. I would agree James it certainly took whoever did the work a fair amount of time and effort, the 07 doesn't have a ptb and maybe at the time the mod was done a ptb was an expensive option??
  3. Its definitely more docile on the throttle response, still crisp but not snappy, but more noticeable when rolling off the throttle,it rolls on as well as my 260.. Its 11oz heavier than my stock 260 flywheel. Whoever did the work obviously knows their onions , its very neatly done. Hopefully someone on here can throw some light on it.
  4. Just taken the cover off to change oil filter on my sons 07 4rt and somebody has fitted a weight by welding it on!!! The casing has been ground to allow clearance and the pick up mounting holes lengthened for same reason. Any of you wise guys n gals know or heard of such a mod???
  5. Try H and D Racing they probably have them in stock..
  6. That's to pretty to ride Mark!! you may have to build another one to ride
  7. Would there be a case for 3 routes then? Standard for 0/50s, Hard for 0/40s + the 0/50s that want to ride it because as mentioned a lot 0/50s ride the hardest route & then easier for the 0/60s. All could ride the standard route with age related variations in the sections. Imo it wouldn't add to the section marking out process unduly and everyone hopefully rides sections to suit both ability and age.
  8. Fair point Nigel. Though if I had dropped 32 where Graham lost 6 & James 16 on the same route I would be a very happy man indeed....
  9. Seem to have got it just about right on the scores,The Acu "suggestion" that the winner of the 0/40s lose 10marks or less has been taken onboard, albeit only the 1st rnd. Be interesting to see if the rest follow suit.
  10. Have you checked the pick up on the generator? mine wouldn't start after id washed off & after much searching /testing of everything it turned out the pick up was loose either by vibration or just not done up tight. Retightened making sure was positioned correctly and off she went and has ever since. may be worth a check..
  11. Even the often heard a mont costs too much argument is no longer really valid as the standard 4rt is now very competitively priced against all the other brands. Imo they make the soundest investment of your hard earned.. If buying a trials bike can in anyway be construed as a sound investment
  12. Speaking as a long time owner of the 4rt & purely on a personal level,The weight difference is negligible on the courses & sections I ride (no bouncing),although a mates son who has to ride a 125 can hop the mont far easier than his own bike!! The build quality is 2nd to none in the trials world & maintainance beyond filter & chain well that's about it!!. I especially don't miss the faffing with stripping carbs, blowing jets etc etc, because the eyes aren't what they wer & neither are the fingers,so maybe that's why the 4rt appeals to the slighty elder demograph. Lees workshop time = both more riding time & more time in the warmth of the house and not the necessity of cold workshop time maintaining the 2smokes....
  13. RCM are extremely helpful and hold a good selection in stock too, Robin is always happy to do deal may well be worth a phone call,& as you said its a pleasant trip
  14. I'm pretty sure the 315 & the 4rt are almost if not exactly the same,( obv I stand to be corrected),but visually they look the same. May help widen your search a bit. Happy hunting.
  15. If you can blag a ride on a 16/17 260 johnnyboxer you will definitely be pleasantly surprised. They are a world different but oddly the same!! Hard to explain but when you ride one you will know..
  16. Dadof's last paragraph is unfortunately very accurate....
  17. That must of been some day out, bearing in mind Chris is the current Normandale Masters Champion!! I I doubt he dropped that much in any of the rounds..
  18. Do any of you fine and knowledgeable people know if any of the clothing manufacturers make a Plain blue jean/trouser? I have looked at all the usual suspects,Hebo,Jitsie etc with no joy. Thanks folks..
  19. They work just fine, had one on my 4rt for over 12mnths,wear rate is a match if not better than conventional, never had the chain come off yet!! but didn't with ordinary either mind. They are signifigantly quieter running , and look trick as too. If you want one you wont be disappointed.
  20. Updated version of the large number of dealer supported top centre runners of the 70s/80s.That idea may have some legs..
  21. Depends on what type of rider/course you do. If your a hopper & bouncer type the weight is quite noticeable after a days competing. But if you ride old school style, then the difference is barely noticeable imo.
  22. Dont have any issues with that either Billy, Better born lucky than rich I guess
  23. True billy but if a 260 works fine on 4 springs then a 300 will work fine as well, because as you said the washers will still give the extra bit of preload. The ratios don't change..
