  1. I have big calves and my Gaernes do just fine.
  2. Heather did you watch Ray Peters Youtube vid on rear hopping? Helpful.
  3. Yep, practicing them all. Those hops are tiring-wow.
  4. Glenn we love it when you rant! Yes the basics rule and that's what needs the most practice. just finding that as I practice and make the turns tighter and tighter a well timed hop makes sense. Now if I could just hop well timed.
  5. You must mean a deer hop or flick turn with both wheels turned at the same time? Yes Line that's what I mean. A way to do a super tight 360.
  6. When a rider needs to front or rear wheel hop, is there any time that a bunny hop is a better option? Meaning you're hopping the whole bike toward a more advantageous spot vs just front or rear wheel moving?
  7. By the description it sounded like the Gasser is the better fit (hard to argue with clean). But like others say any bike is great to start on. Beta, GG, Sherco, Jota, Scorpa- they all work fine and have their drawbacks. Hope you love trials as much as I do.
  8. Hair spray. Squirt a little in the grip, doesn't take much. Slides on, dries and holds well.
  9. If I had that bike I'd probably spend as much time staring at it as riding it. Nice rig Helicopter.
  10. Fox Racing Launch Downhill/Freeride Knee/Shin Guards These are great, after they are broken in-very comfortable. I wear mine tucked into my boots and under my pants and I don't even know they are there. The best ones so far that I've used. Here's a tip...If you get these adjust the two top straps where you want them and don't undo them after you ride-leave em strapped. Just undo the ankle strap and slide em off and on. If you keep redoing the upper straps you'll lose your mind.
  11. Mike at Tryals Shop is really good. I ride a Sherco but I'm pretty sure he's a gas gas dealer and he's helpful and responsive. Always picked up the phone and ships fast.
  12. Ok sound. Line are the pistons easy to put back in?
  13. My front brake sticks and drags on the rotor a bit. I need to get in there and clean it. I have been told to remove the brake pads and then pump the brake lever to get the pistons out a bit but to be very careful to not overdo it-I just don't know what that limit is. I heard if you over pump it the piston can pop out then you have a nightmare on your hands. If anybody had a pic of the pistons out to a safe limit for cleaning or even a measurement that would be most appreciated. Cheers.
  14. Dang, after I smoothed it I went riding and it leaked. I took a super thin piece of plastic tried to hook out any grit to see if maybe it'd be ok without new seals. So far not looking good, oil popping up over the dust seal after a few minutes of riding. Very little oil, but getting through nonetheless.
  15. I banged my left upper fork tube against a rock. No dings, but scraped up pretty good. I've heard that the scrape and its raised areas can very likely tear the fork seals so I'd like to avoid that obviously. I wanted advice on what to do...Sand it smooth? Razor it smooth? Krazy glue and baking soda I've seen around in some searches. Thanks.
  16. HRMAD as a beginner I shouldn't be doling advice but I can pass on something that's helped me. Before entering section- 3 deep breaths Remember this acronym "S.K.U.L.L." S- Squat down K- Knees bent and out U- Use all the real estate in a turn L- Looking ahead and through obstacles (not at the front tire!) L- Loose throughout, don't tighten up! I try to run through this checklist before every run. It has helped this beginner a bit, let me know if it helps.
  17. Yeah Dan W. that was a great post, excellent info and very appreciated. BTW I have friends in Mass that have gotten Lymes Disease and I know it's serious- very serious. All I can say is that your advice was all spot on and thank you.
  18. Any tips for when you're riding and feeling like you're not progressing? Last few times out I feel like hell on wheels- not the good kind.
  19. Yeah I love the place. Rode there all the time back when I lived outside of Atlanta. Just never went during trials days, probably well worth it.
  20. Hey Line good info and I have seen Ray's youtube vids. Do you have a link to his schools?
