    Ty175 Info

If you want to ride competitively then these bikes aren't in demand. But to the right buyer these bikes are in more demand than the new ones. I rebuilt my 175 and could never sell it. But everyone has their own preferences! lol, if you lived near me, I would gladly buy it from you so I could rebuild it!!

    New Pinky

Yeah I didn't recognize the disc guard either.. Even if it's not genuine, who ever built it originally put one hell of an effort into it!

    New Pinky

Very nice bike!! But I think it would be a shame to not ride it;). Unless you tend to treat your bikes like $#!7, this baby should be shown off among your friends! Remember.. as long as you know the limit of your riding skill, all bikes will remain mint condition

    Ty175 Bars

Good luck with the build! If you need to see anything else, there isn't a corner of this bike which I haven't photographed lol

    Build Quality

The next time your friend wants to destroy a bike, just tell him to donate it to me(before he takes the grinder to it!).. I'll give it a GOOD home, with tons of maintainance! My uncle had an older gasgas JTR replica (not sure what year) and I thought that bike was great. He can be quoted to this day stating: "...it's the lightest bike I've ever owned..." That's what we all want in a bike, right? And like any, they require proper maintainance. If you want your stuff to look mint all the time, you have to learn to enjoy working on it and keeping it that way! Or the hobby will soon be a chore I think Gas Gas bikes are really sweet, but my bike is like 25 years old.. Every new bike is sweet to me!
  6. hahahahahaha The only hotel use this thing would see from me would be destruction of it withing 4 cheap walls. I'd just get a cycle. Or a pogo-stick.. hopping around on a frame just seems like a joke to me, I think that thing is hilarious

    Ty175 Bars

I don't have the original bars, they were bent about 10 years before I was born lol.. But, when they were bent my Dad replaced them with RENTAL bars and they have a great feel to them IMO. Here are a few pics of mine.. hope it will help you get an idea (the bike is at the cottage right now so I can't take a measurement at the moment, sorry): pic of Bars with nothing yet added to them Rider's view Close up angle shot Edit: Here is a link to B&J Racing.. In case you haven't come across this site yet!! :-)
  8. lol, I'm not sure how accurate this translation is... but try it.. I can't seem to figure out what it is lol Google's English Translation
  9. Good luck Be sure to let us know what you end up getting! Your son will be most pleased!

    Ty250 Manual

I don't mean to sound like a jerk! But try this site search: TY 250 Seeing how you're new to the site maybe you don't know how to use the "search function" at the top of the page.. Or check out ebay maybe at this link:eBay.com Hope that helps you out. The TY250 is a bike that has been around forever, you'll find tons of information on this fourm about it Good luck edit: When I was 12 my dad rode as an intermediate in trials here in Canada on a ty250 monoshock.. and I rode that bike a couples times around the pits. But at the time I was riding a honda XR80, so I didn't really get a chance to play around with it! It was a great bike in it's day. And you'll be able to have a lot of fun on it:) I ride a ty175..
  11. haha good eye! But in my defense, I didn't have a helmet with my old avatar haha. But I still stand by wearing a helmet!! lol As for some tips for pushbike trials, I'd say practice hopping on your back wheel:) Or get a pogo-stick. Like this GIANT: (I bet he would be awesome on a trials bike! ...or maybe just clumsy.. god damn he's tall)
  12. 4 times? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  13. haha Yeah lol! Motorcycle trials is better.. of course

    It's A Minter

Wow! I wish I was there to witness that stunt! lol.. I almost fell off my chair laughing, because I can picture my dad doing that too! hehehehehehe
  15. Hey Scott, you could always buy a newer bike to ride in the summer.. and when winter rolls by, you could pick up an older type bike and rebuild it over winter (And because bikes are so small, it only took me a couple months to rebuild the ty) It's one heck of a fun project! Give that a thought And good luck on buying a new bike!
  16. Man! When I was around 6-14 I wanted a ty-80 SOO bad. Then I got started on the ty 175 and haven't looked back. I learned on a 1989 honda xr 80. It was a great bike to play around on, and I wish I still had it actually It would have made a fun project.. Anywho, I don't have a large selection of bikes in my history.. But I would recomend maybe a ty 80 if you can find a nice one. Or a Honda TL 125.. Even the yamaha 175 he could take to. You could always just chance the sprockets to make the first few gears much slower. (Just ideas).. Or switch the throttle assembly to a slow action throttle (I think that's what they're called, well, that's what I mean). Either way, your son will love what ever bike you get him. And he will also love you for getting him it! (not to get all mushy! hehe) But yeah, it will give you and your son a way to share a common interest, and down the road he will thank you I'm sure. I like bicycles a lot too lol.. but once you get bitten by the engine bug, things like horses, bikes and cars seem boring. haha, Anyways, sorry for droning on! Hope you find a bike for him! Edit: Also, I'm not sure where you can get these anymore.. but my dad bought this cool attatchment to your clutch cable at the top, and it's called an "Easy Clutch" by the "White Brothers" (maybe you can find it on ebay or something). here are some pics of it: The Easy Clutch is a little extention that has an arm inside of the casing that takes the pressure off of the clutch Here is a closer pic of it, It's great for tough clutches, or in this case, younger kids (longer riding times ) Sorry I don't have any pics of the inside of it, but basically there is an arm in the middle that pivots on a pin and takes a lot of the pressure of the cable and makes the lever move a lot easier. I used it on my xr80 way back in the day... It doesn't make it feel like a hydraulic clutch.. but it makes riding all day a lot easier on my hands now.
  17. wow, I really like the looks of that! Good find great job too!
  18. Well, it looks ULTRA CLEAN! My plastics on my bike were all a little yellowish, so I just cleaned them with a scrub brush in the sink with soap (I used fast orange for your hands). Although I'm sure it wasn't as bad as your tank if bleach wouldn't even take it off. Your new tank really finishes off the bike though, money well spent in the end! (Though it's easy for someone to say that when they didn't have to pay for it!)

    Kill Switch

I used a two wire yz kill switch on my ty175. And it works great! I found this thread to be all the help I needed! Nigel is right, you just ground the black wire of the killswitch on the coil. (I connected the extra black wire to where the old killswitch was connected aswell and it stops WAY better than the old single wire killswitch. Plus it doesn't shock me now when I'm trying to shut'er'down!) Hope that's of use
  20. The only tip I could think of is: If you're just starting out, and never ridden a bike before, maybe get an old bike for cheap. That way you don't feel so bad destroying an '06 beta or something. Mind you, I do think the new bikes are AWESOME.. but for someone who's just starting and doesn't know if it's the sport for them, pick up an old trials bike.. and if you end up not liking the sport, you've always got a great little trail bike! (With a seat too!! ) Take care
  21. ^^ Well, I think you should buy an old bike, then restore it. When it's done, you've got a perfect bike for practice
  22. HAHAHAHAHA It's t he RAIN MAN That guy haunts my dreams. I was on the bike again today (Nice and sunny here today) and was playing around with more wheeling over logs and hills... I know it takes more practice to get good, but it feels like the technique is comming along quickly. And I am getting better at slipping the clutch. (I'm thinking of putting an "EZ clutch" to make things easier. I had bought it for my first bike when I was 7, a honda XR 80!) Mine looks similar to this one: Just thought I'd add that to keep my post on topic haha Does anyone know if these things work well? I can't remember what it was like when I was 7. I'll be sure to try it out and post my results (when I get around to digging the old thing up)
  23. lol, not that I would know... but is that acid? Only Joking.. I've never seen any trials cartoons.
  24. haha I was just about to say: "Is this when we find out that's one of the Trials Central member's daughter(s)?" hahahaha Those were good pictures of the sections though, too!
