  1. I was practicing on the ty today for a few hours in the snow and over hills. It was excellent, but there were spots with ice that could have gotten interesting! haha, the new back tire kept grip on it pretty well, I was amazed. I practiced my wheelies for quite a bit and they're getting better and longer I did one that was about 15 feet long.. What a glorious feeling it was! I'm starting to get the hang of it now. So in regards to Training again... I'd say practice so far has made me better at riding and weight lifting has helped out with manovering it.. (I turn 19 tomorrow woo! )
  2. "SPRONG '06" hahaha! Thanks for the links I'm checking them our right now
  3. I read it aswell, and it was more than just a summary haha. I don't think I've laughed that hard in a long time! p-p-p-lmao
  4. Wow, I bet it will clean up nicely! I can't really give much help on your model, but check out my '78 ty175 for a couple ideas maybe:) Hope it can help, I have many more pictures if you need them (the whole process was covered). But I really can't give any info on the monoshock ty. Good Luck
  5. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
  6. I just wanted to add a quick comment.. That Carbon fibre cover looks amazing. Can't wait to see some pics Good luck with your modification
  7. Awesome, I will get into contact with them soon then! Thanks for the info! I used to ride my 175 at the cottage as just a trail bike, but now that I'm getting better at balance, and wheelies and obsicles.. I realize my small pegs don't want to grip my boot as much! I think that it didn't help that I painted black in the rebuild lol! Time for some wider pegs
  8. That looks great! I hope to do something like this this summer at our farm (it's a tree farm). Maybe I can make a smaller version of the rockgarden you have. (only because I'm a beginner, hehe) What a fun practice section
  9. Haha, I'd just like to add that my bike is a lot heavier than the champs bikes are, and doesn't have the power. Plus I don't have their skill to back it up lol. But in my experience with the bike, more muscle = more power to move it around. Being that I only way 120 lbs and can benchpress almost 200 lbs, isn't that an advantge for lifting the handlebars? I can see what you mean though, they do look kinda small in the videos I've seen.. Maybe that's in perspecive of what they drive over!!
  10. lol, It's pretty neat, but I don't think I'd put it on my bike! But everyone has their own tastes! I say if you like it go for it. Not my for my tastes though!
  11. Yeah, I'm REALLY interested on getting a hold of footpegs like these. Does anyone know of where to get them? Is there a manufacturer somewhere that I could get a hold of? I would love to upgrade the pegs on my TY.. They are much too small for my likings (the ones I've got on it now). I need some fatter ones and lower, hehe
  12. I just wanted to add a little comment to this topic! I'm 18 and ride a ty 175 which isn't by any means a heavy bike, but it is definatly not light. haha. I weight 120 pounds (not tall by any means) but I've been lifting weights for about 4 years now which has helped tremendously! When I first started riding the bike, I couldn't move it around at all (I stepped up from a honda xr 80! at 12 years olf). After the lifting weights for quite a while I can jump the bike around quite a bit now. I found curling, bench press and peck workouts were great for pushing the bike around. My riding stamina has gone up and I don't feel sore/weak/tired at the end of a full day of riding as much as before when I was scronny. I know leg excercises are essential for trials aswell, but with the upper body workouts, I've noticed my ability to trow the bike around has improved a lot. As for practicing on the bike, I just go out into the bush (at the cottage) and ride up hills, down hills, up ledges, down ledges, up the creek, down the creek etc. I think the best way to practice is just ride at what ever looks interesting off the trail ..then again, I'm not training to become a pro, just for fun hehe
  13. Thanks for the input ferretflasher:) I'll be sure to get a new chain before I head up to the cottage again in the summer.. That's not the lock I use, (similar, but) mine is much more heavy duty, and I didn't think you could hack thorugh it so easily.. thanks for the advice As for the dog situation, we have three large german sheppards Thanks again for all the tips I'm glad to hear you can get a chain that's coated.. A year ago it wouldn't have mattered, but now that I've repainted the TY, I can't bring myself to knicking it up with an old rusty chain! thanks again
  14. Could you post some pictures? That sounds really neat. What are your intentions with it? Are you going to restore it ? - JackMan
  15. I'm downloading the 220 mb one now, can't wait to watch it. I loved the indoor one you posted too! Thanks for sending the links! ..we can always use more entertainment when we cannot ride. There is now here on the ground.. lots
  16. That is very true, I was just getting some steam off! hehe, It really gets my back up when I hear of stories like this one! I hate when people steal...grrr. The important thing is you got them back, but more importantly they're unharmed!
  17. Right now the bike is in the shop, which is locked and has an alarm. When it's at the cottage (In the "super shed"), it has two locks around it and 3 other machines, and the super shed is locked with a heavy metal door and two padlocks. We've never run into anything getting stolen, but then again, It's better to be safe than sorry.. edit: Do you think one of these braided cable locks could stand up against a thief? I guess you could burn it off with torches (if they were available), But it definatly feels like you couldn't use a hacksaw to get through it.. I could be wrong though. I use a lock like this one through the frame of my ty and my dad's quad, and a few other family-friends bikes that are stored there. I don't use a big chain because I don't want to harm the ty because I just painted it. BUT, if it will keep it from being stolen, I'll use what ever I have to. Here is a lock similar to the two I use (when it's at the cottage shed), would this help?
  18. wow, Glad to hear you got them back and they were unharmed! I would definatly be dumping brake fluid on their cars roof, hood, trunk, get it all over. Make sure you do it around 1 am so it has ALLLLL night to lift that paint. The punks.
  19. Thanks so much for the vids!! I would love to see some outdoor vids too if anyone has clips! Cheers for all the ones you're posting! - JackMan
  20. wow! Mint! I love old bikes.. and this one looks truely great!

    Loose 4rt Grips

I've never used the grip glue (until recently). I used to use black tape and you just wrap it around the bar where you are putting your grip. It makes the bar wider, so when you shove on your grip, it can't move because it's so wide. This has always worked for me, but after rebuilting the ty 175, I just bought some of that $10 grip-glue epoxy type stuff and it's ROCK solid. But, I would honestly recomend trying the black tape. Works great take care

    Ty Troubles

I did the same, and the exhaust too... It just smokes a little the first time you run it because it's baking on. If the bike is running very fast you can adjust the idle on the carb. If adjusting it doesn't do anything, you've probably got dirt (even if it's a tiny tiny spec) in the carb. Take it appart (carefully! Be sure it goes back the exact same way) and clean it out. Does this help?? Good Luck
  23. Just take off the shocks and put the bottom side (if I can remember correctly) in a vise. Then get one person who is "super" strong to pull back on the spring towards the vise.. then you have another person standing by and when there is no tension on the spring, You will notice there is a clip at the top of the spring that holds it from falling off. When you remove the clip, be FAST and be sure that the person holding the spring doesn't let go. That's how I got mine off.. No special tool lol. Worked fine, but, in the worst case scenario someone could break a finger if they were to let go of the spring when the other person is trying to remove the clip. So BE CAREFUL!! - JackMan edit: haha, that's just to get them off. If you want to clean them, I used autosol in a tube, and then put it on the shiny parts and buffed it up with a buffing wheel mounted on the end of a drill.
  24. The only reason I cut off the headlight screen was because it was all warped and broken from the previous riders, before I was given it.. I took it off because in order to make the bike look new, It couldn't have that old bent up POS on it lol
