About Me

My first bike was a '71 Bultaco Matador MkIV that my brother in law brought back from his stint in the Air Force in four boxes and a frame. I think this was in '74 though the details are a bit hazy. I asked my parents if I could have it. They looked at it and with a chuckle said, "Sure." I'm pretty certain they figured I'd never get it running. Took a couple months reassembling the engine from a Clymer manual (no internet then) on a "bench" I made from a piece of plywood with four 2X4s nailed on as legs. Started on the fourth kick. And so it began. '72 Bultaco Alpina, '75 Bultaco Alpina, '77 Maico AW400, '83 CanAm CMT310, '85 CanAm, CMT350 (serial#853200001), '87 CanAm AT300, '87 Beta TR34, '91 Beta Techno, '95 Beta Techno, 2000 Beta Rev3, '02 Beta Rev3, '05 Beta Rev3, '08 Beta Rev3, '13 Beta EVO, "18 Beta EVO, '20 Factory EVO.

I've worked as a stock boy, furniture delivery man, gear cutter, trailer mechanic, electronic assembler/technician, publicist, writer/editor, photographer, sound engineer, electrical engineer... None of which I have formal training for. I obviously have a penchant for diving into things I have no business doing. Formal education? I graduated trade school for electrical but never spent a day working as an electrician. It's been a rather eclectic career. I  worked at the same company for 37 years as a product engineer working on everything from SONET physical layer clock recovery devices to optical sensors to motor control until they decided I was old and in the way. So now I work for a new place that makes atomic clocks. I thought it would be all Einstein haircuts and theremin music when I went in but no. Just a bunch of techs and engineers doing their best.

I got married in Vegas by Elvis. It was the wife's idea but anything to make her happy ?

If you've seen my posts you can see I don't like to accept the factory knows the best way to do something or at least they haven't spent the money to do it.

So enough about me. Tell me about yourself.
