Thanks.
Take one well running Fantic section, add new carby kit and New X71 Needle ( same as old one, clip in same slot, second up from bottom )
Now it runs like a Piece of s**t
It is very lumpy at idle, also suddenly the revs at idle will pick up.
Some of the O rings had perished and needed replacement.
Where would you start ????
the whole carby was stripped down, all jets and drill ways cleaned, then blown out with carby cleaner, before reassemble.
The mixture screw doesn't appear to change things, Screw towards the air cleaner, so strip and check idle jet I guess.
feel free to make fun of my stupidity !!!!!!

When replacing the pads on my Section, should they be bed in some how, or just bed in through riding.
Thanks

Your all right, reed valve fitted. Not sure why, last week I thought different.
Bike runs real well will the fitted carby.
At the last Trial, a couple of good riders had a go and really liked the way the very usable power range came in.
Very easy for me to swap between the Fantic and Greeves.
Will have another look to see I have the numbers correct.
Thanks again.

Thanks for the replies.
Now I see the lock nut, so the spring can pivot between nut and head.
Not visible in other pics.

Hi
A couple of quick questions.
Is the bolt at the top of the stand spring, fixed with the bolt tight, or free for the spring to turn ????
Could you please post a pic of the stand, with it down.
I don't appear to have a reed valve fitted ????
Thought it was because it had a power valve instead.
Thanks

Thank for the pics.
Great job, Wish I had asked for a pic before.
Was wondering how to fit the spring and what length. My one will sit under the swing arm, more than yours.
More pics to come.
Wide footpeg fitted without mods ????

Ordered new F/R brake pads, probably original ones fitted, and 20yr old.
Is it just, drop wheel, pull two pins, drop pads, new one in and replace pins.
Then squeeze pads back a bit to get disk in. ????
Thanks

Well all back together.
comment on Trials Au,
'Those ports are vents and must be open to atmosphere. As stated it was common practice of some Euro bikes to link them together with one tube but what they did was knick the side out of the tube around mid point to open it to atmosphere. If you don't have these ports open the carby will not function correctly'.
Thanks for all the comments.
Whilst the carby was off I checked the inlet rubber, cracks on the outside but none inside.
But I thought this engine had a reed valve, but nothing, or was it further in than I reached with my fingers.
Or maybe is the reason this motor has a exhaust power valve ????

Hi, Just wondering if the two yellow tubes from the carby should actually be one piece and have snapped into to separate ones.
I have some new green chainsaw fuel pipe to replace it with.
Thanks.

Thanks.
Got around to the carby kit today.
Also took note of all the numbers on the jets etc.
The 4 other parts had me head scratching for a while, until I remembered they said on the phone the kit fits several models.
I cannot find the float height anywhere, online.
Could someone please post it, and I will add it to my carby info.
Many that's for the replies.

The carby to cylinder head rubber has some cracks in it, from fuel spilling from the once leaking fuel tap.
Not causing any problems at the moment, but would-be nice to have a spare one ready.
Where would be the best place to try and get one ?
Also a replacement fan motor, or something aftermarket, as I would imagine the original type would be quite expensive.
Thanks

He also gave me advice on where to get carby parts from.

I have a 1960 Greeves, with a 32A motor.
I live in Australia, and 20 odd years ago, sent my coil to hi-output coils, In Victoria.
They rewound it, and has been faultless.
Cost was about 40 quid, and it runs the standard setup, but has the HT lead soldered to the coil.
I had a 1956 James trials, 6E motor, which ran an external coil, much like you are doing.
I picked up a roadster rolling chassis, then later a 6E motor.
I stripped the first lot of wire from the coil ( secondary windings ? ) then ran a wire from the original coil winding left on it, to the external coil, which also had a external condenser fitted to it.
It has changed hands a couple of time, and a few changes made, but is still being used at Trials in Queensland Au, the last picture below
A mate with a 150 Villiers, took the wires off the coil, counting the turns from the primary and secondary windings. Took two samples to the local electric motor rebuilders, to get the sizing, and length, when wound the wire back on, finishing with a shellac coating.
20 years later still going strong.

I ordered some NEW type clutch springs,
http://villiersservices.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=8_58_122&products_id=406
plus some carby parts yesterday also.
The new springs are 30% lighter, as I want to lighten my clutch lever.
I already have the extended arm type, from the Bond Car, and new type clutch plates fitted.
See how they go.
Villiers Servicers, are very polite, helpful and easy to deal with.
Glad we could help.
