Glad this came up as a topic , thought it was just my bike that did this ,though it starts fine still !, apart from sometimes it seems a little reluctant to start from cold , the symptoms being , if you dont catch it well enough to start on first kick, it then needs the fuel turning off and full throttle ....wrong pilot jet ? too much oil on filter? ...... It was a 225cc Stu , the new fancy model is 250cc and its one of if not the most popular grey import green laners over here , ideal for shortys like me ,except no way cool enough so i bought a 400 Husaberg ,cant touch the floor but ,hey who cares it go's like stink ! I know this was a subject sometime ago and the new bike is due to be shown soon , on the last topic it was discussed what engine would be used ,and the only 250 Yams out at the time were WR250 and TTR250 Well i know it is only speculation and all that, but has the new Serow not recently been released with a 250 engine !! And anyone who has ridden the old Serow will testify what a super little torquey trail bike that was with only 225cc's hmmm ???

I have tried an iridium plug in a gasser pro and now in my new scorpa sy 250 and IMHO it gives improved starting , and a slightly improved smoothness at the very bottom end which as a lowly clubman this is where the bike spends more of its time , As far as extra power in a trials bike is concerned, how much power do you need ??? and is the delivery of the power not more important ?? This is only my opinion , i am not pretending to be "pops"Yoshimura on the bike tuning side nor Dougie Lampkin on the riding side , but i have been riding bikes ,mainly 2 strokes for 20 years and would like to think i could notice something as obvious as smoother running . As far as tight Yorkshire men go , they outlast "regular" plugs at least 4-1 so who is the tight git now eh ! p.s Both my Impreza turbo's ran these kind of plugs and they last about 75,000 miles in this kind of application . Boof, funny thing that progress , i also had an elsie 350 , then got a power valve , lavished a fortune on her , nikon pipes, WP rear shock , WP front springs , fancy steering damper , the works and it still wasnt a patch on the old elsie !

I am having difficulty starting my 04 SY250 , it only seems to start with full throttle and choke , this is only from cold the rest of the time it starts perfect , i'm not giving it big handfulls of throttle or anything else daft , not that i can think of anyway any ideas ???
