I have just fitted a pair of new BRAKING "cookie cutter" discs to my 04 SY and after an hour of mediocre braking whilst bedding in, i then nearly chucked mi'sen over the bars doing a stoppie!!! ....cool!
P.S if i ever get anything on my discs other than brake pads(!) or mud i just give em a wipe with carb clean and that seems to do the trick!!

Dear Austini
I didn't need a lobotomy, being born here in OZ. I have found though that the heat does tend to gradually melt ones brain which is probably a bit similar to having a lobotomy, but slower.
Anyway, about the fasteners, I have seen two Beta Rev3s, one TY250Z and one Scorpa SY250 all suffer from the frame screws and brake disc screws coming loose in use. I don't think it is a problem confined to SY250s.

As we have hard going for only about 2 day a year and the rest of the time non stop soft mud, maybe that makes a difference?

Is that Jake by any chance?, and given the amount of time you reputedly spend with him i'd keep his sexual preferences to yer sen!!
-
Thought you were his manager!
-
Yorkshires very own James Dabill gets a mention in this months BIKE magazine calling him the new Dougie Lampkin!!!! but on a lesser note they also run an article on a trials school fer beginners, just hope they dont do a More Crap than News and "big" the sport up until any probs arrive; DEFRA etc then you dont see em fer dust as they speed off on thier 180mph sports bikes!
-
Am i weird or is that quite cool?! and the black object in Brians post! what are they?
-
It was quite clear in the first place!!!!!!!, i was just refering to the fact that my SY is not a bike requiring very much spanner twirling! as they are surely the very best trials bike in the world!!
-
Husqavarna WRE125 is a good pukka dual sport bike in the ilk of the DT125 only more serious, best bet is speak to HUSKY SPORT as they are the importers and know every thing worth knowing!! there is also a KTM125LC in the same ilk only using the YAM motor from the DT, i think? and they are 'leccy start best bet is to get some TBM back issues or ask on the TBM forum.hope this helps, Brad

EH WHAT !!! SY ATENTION !! WHAT ON EARTH IS THAT!
-
Its the black round thingy on the ally bit roond the airbox i never touched the other bit, i know what it said on here before!, if you follow the previous advice you wont do yer bike very much good at all and birketts will give you some right stick fer been a pillock!!
-
Must come as stock with a 4RT as at least half of them were on one!!
-
YES DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES REMOVE IT!! it will screw up your bike, possibly big time its a huge no no!!
-
Given that all the 2t bikes are all w/c 250cc "ish" what can be the big differences, maybe a few mm on length, a few mm here or there on rake or trail hardly a huge engineering conudrum to knock up a new set of yokes or add a few mil' to a swingarm or whatever.
Also as has been mentioned earlier take all the weight off the flywheel and a bit of porting here and there and that ole' yam motor can really sing! and make good solid power reliably!, so i am inclined to go with the something other than the bike theory, but i own a scorpa so i am of course hugely biased!!!
-
The frame is a colour invented just pour moi by my buddy at the local powder coaters !
As far as a "trials monkey spesh" dont really think my riding is quite up to even a fake works bike standard!!
Dont worry Lewis the bike has been ridden a good few times since those pictures were taken ! well as many as 'er indoors will allow

Cheers guys glad you like it!, the front mud plate is a YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE item as is the exhaust guard both work well and are pretty cheap.
The reason it looks so clean is because i had only just finished a nut&bolt rebuild and i always use stainless fasteners where poss they just come up better and use loads of pro-clean bike wash when i wash it.
The swingarm stickers are just standard scorpa fayre as is the rear mudguard and that was about 56quid the only disadvantage with the blue is that it scratches easy!
Many thanks

My good mate neonsurge has resized my piccy's so here is my idea of a different look, its partway between an '06 model and the '03 works bike!, actually an'04!
Hope ya'll like it!

I know the feeling its the same as i got when i rode past the local bike shop and saw a pristine Kawasaki KR1S parked outside! and the dealer tells me "take it for a spin" when i got back i had this stupid grin that didnt leave my face for about...well ages! probably like the grin you get every time that big V8 roars away!
-
On a more serious note (for a change) i ride at scarborough and the amount of young riders up there in all weathers with dads (or mums sometimes) helping and cajolling their youngsters is amazing and i am sure this is this same across the land and whilst we may not have the same level of support from the ACU as the youf get elsewhere in europe i think it is fabulous and heartening and an amazing lesson to people, as these are the people who get britains youth riders where they are today.
I for one take my hat off to all you trials parents who sacrifice time and money on producing what are hopefully going to be THE best in the world very soon indeed
Rant over, cheers.
