    Spare Wheel

Not sure most front ends are the same, Gasgas use the fat spindle so bearings may differ to the Honda, these may not have the same outside diameter so the hubs may not be convertible. Rears are more likely to be an easy conversion as I think most bikes use the same size rear spindle. Check this out before you invest in a wheel.
  2. These production numbers probably justify Honda apparently building the whole years production in one go then storing the bikes and drip feeding the market. It would also explain Hondas inflated pricing structure as no matter what the 'quality build' fanatics say, their bikes do not cost £1000 more to build especially if built in one huge batch. What I mean is there is not enough margin for a large business like Honda in the more normal £5500 price range.
  3. O.K. you are talking N.Z. dollar, I make that about 2500 dollar cheaper which equates to £1100 which I have got to admit is still a massive saving. Our price would include 20% VAT (value added tax) do you have any national or local taxes to add ? If not then you are very lucky, Tax is the killer over here.
  4. How much are the other brands in NZ ? Think we all should be importing our own euro bikes from there if that is the case or is that a typo ? You could not buy a 2 year old bike here for that ( U.K)
  5. Evan at 8000 units per year it still makes you ask how do all of these factories make enough to survive. Anyone care to guess how much profit there is per bike from a manufacturers point of view ? If Vertigo build 10 bikes per day they must expect to make a lot to cover the design / tooling and I imagine a full factory team for the coming year, it has been discussed on another thread 'what do you think the top riders earn ?' Well they need to move more than 10 bikes a day to cover some peoples guess at the salaries paid !
  6. I had a query from my insurance company about the agreed value of my bike, I then listed all of the component parts, the modifications from standard to make it competitive in today's trials ( ! ) , the list was exhaustive but necessary. I proved my point and they accepted my valuation, the moral here is price it up before you start or you could end up spending more than the end result is worth although that is not the reason we build these bikes.
  7. I have never used a pressure washer, always wash by hand with a hose turned down low, except for cleaning out the tires then I direct the higher flow at the bottom of the wheel. Bucket with hot soapy (car polish) water, a kitchen brush and a big sponge. Plug the exhaust and keep the overspray around the carb to a minimum. Never lost any stickers and for probably the same amount of time as getting the pressure washer out and then putting it all away again I still get a super result. Once dried off, car Polish seems to help here, I lube the chain and give a light coat of GT 85
  8. May be worth trying dropping your front end by loosening off the triple clamps and pulling the fork legs up through by about 10mm. This is a commonly used trick to reduce the washout effect on pre 65 and twin shock bikes, 10 minutes work may give you an improvement.

    Trs Bike Unveiled

When is this bike going to hit the sales department ? Front page news today about Raga riding in Sheffield, but I would have thought they should be available now or at least before the end of the year otherwise Santa will not be involved !
  10. Doing well now isn't he ? 3 too go and Lorenzo has to finish in front every time.
  11. I asked my technical guru and his opinion is that it is a badly isolated transformer in the battery charger, suggest you try a different charger. He suggests using a neon bulb, mains checking screwdriver to prove the point, just touching the bike will light it up proving the theory that mains is present. We do not think it is static this usually just gives a crack on discharge rather than a tingling that you are probably feeling.
  12. Hi is the kit still available, my brothers slimline tank has seen better days His is a 325, is the tank seat the same from the 125 ?
  13. Strange how a lot of riders will change tires during the Scottish, I bet none of those would go a couple of years on a back tire. Why spend thousands of pounds on a bike and then run on blunt rubber after a couple of months, as I said earlier they are the only things touching the ground ( or should be !) I recently purchased a 2014 gasgas with absolutely knackered rubber and was told ' there's plenty of life in those' I went straight out and fitted new boots and it really is still like a new bike.
  14. Good price, but you must check out how it runs and rides as it looks like it has had a very hard life !
  15. My comments re big hammer and hacksaw were obviously meant to be in humour but perhaps that goes over some heads !
  16. P.s. Probably need to soften the suspension as well, that white bike looks like a good start point. There is a class for trail bikes in some U.K. national trials so you don't have to do too much to get an enjoyable ride.
  17. The specification should include 1/ Low first gear, you should be able to ride along at less than walking speed without slipping the clutch 2/ Steering lock needs to be modified to allow the steering to go round tight, as near to 45 degrees, this will probably require cutting lumps off the fork clamps and bashing a big dent in the tank. 3/ Get a set of trials handlebars, as they are not pulled as far back as road bars. 4/ Move the footrests back, look at lots of photos of trials bikes and you will see where they should be. 5/ Make your own seat Years ago lots of us started as schoolboys on modified road bikes, the sport has moved on, as the bikes have improved but if that's all you have to start with anything is possible with a bit of imagination and a big hammer / hacksaw ! Good luck
  18. Hardly a pre65 bike so no worries about it being chopped around !
  19. Rossi gets paid for his popularity with the crowds, a 80,000 crowd would be near on 50% in yellow 46, that is buying power for the sponsors. Check out the rest of the pack, they are on £2mil at best. Trials is a minority sport, you have to take that on board, with a tiny exposure to the public, just look at any video of world rounds there is hardly anyone there. I seriously doubt the figures being bandied about by posters on this site, as a previous post says where else can Toni go ? pay him £20- £50 K more than the others and it's done. My guess would be nearer the £150 K plus his private sponsors.
  20. I am surprised at the number of posts advising limited tire changes. The tires are the only things touching the ground and giving you grip and feel, I would suggest anyone riding competitively will change a rear tire every 10 to 15 trials, so that's only about £7 per trial. Anyone suggesting you can ride on a rear for longer than a couple of months is not riding trials, if you doubt this fact try a bike with a new tire it's not the new bike that feels so good it's the new tire ! This does of course depend where you ride, I ride 95% mud, cambers and roots so as soon as the edge has gone the tire gets turned or changed.
  21. 2016 Gasser is a real beauty, hope they manage to get them to market in time. Would you take a risk on a new untried bike or a well proven one with a new facelift ?
  22. Sorry, I jumped in with both feet there, I now re-read your post as the original owner wanting to restore the bike, so not necessarily to be ridden. Good luck
  23. Original condition and ridden will be a clever one to achieve. Unfortunately as has been discussed on this site at great length in the past an original condition 1960's bike would be almost impossible to ride in modern pre 65 trials even ones which are meant to cater for the class ie pre-unit Good luck with the project but take some advice first before you spend your money as you could end up with something that has cost you a fortune and you have nowhere to ride it ! Sorry to be a cynic

This will depend on the exchange rate, the pricing will have to be set to ensure a return to say 1.2 does not cause TRS any embarrassment. But looks like good news so far, at least they are talking a competitive price and not say £6500
  25. I seem to remember buying a flywheel weight kit from Haven about 10 years ago when they were not readily available from GasGas, so they are familiar with sourcing and importing, but they are not doing themselves any favours with their web site ! Are they a 'grey' importer just bringing in bikes they have purchased in Spain with our strong pound or are they the new official importer ? In this day and age of web exposure you would have thought a couple of hours work with a site designer and ' Bobs your uncle ' everyone would know the real position about Haven and what they have to offer.
