Why not just ride your classic as a twin shock ? Depends on what you have at the moment but a modernised classic is probably easier to ride than a standard twin shock. I have just sold a Sprite to a chap who was not finding his Bultaco easy to ride and he can't believe how much better the Sprite is ! I ride an Ariel against the twin shocks and to be honest there are not many sections on our routes where I am disadvantaged and then I always have the excuse come the end of the day ! Just keep those feet up on whatever you ride

The TY was an amazing seller for what, 10 years, so it was right for the majority of riders ie the clubman. This was achieved without the huge costs of world championship participation. Why do the FIM not put some cost controls on the world championship, the first one I would suggest would be the use of out of the crate bikes. Sure top level riders want something special but carry those parts in a 'carry on bag' and limit the value to say 100% of the cost of a new bike! then the parts could be sold at the end of the event to bring the costs right down. The new bike buyer would relate much better to his bike being ridden by a top rider rather than a special which rumour has it often costs tens of thousands of pounds. Just my off the wall thoughts and probably in the wrong section but I am new to this, I am however passionate about our sport and just get frustrated when I see results from the Worlds which has no relevance to 99 % of riders

Just how many world rounds did Yamaha compete in to sell how many ty mono's ? World round trials has nothing to do with what we all do at the weekend. If everyone aspires to this type of event why don't we go back to one route for everyone and let the beginers loose 5 on every section then they will appreciate how the likes of Jack Sheppard feels competing with Bou and Raga

Am I right in saying that the first year of Ossa production they used a plastic bush instead of a bearing in the rear wheel ? If that is the case it was a remarkable piece of design to save a few pennies on a bearing and then suffer the rework and loss of reputation on a new bike launch. None of the customers realised the problem existed until they had spent their hard earned and the ' bearing' failed, or have I got it wrong ?

I built up my old car last year and found that rubber components that I had fitted 10 years earlier and had never done a days work had perished away, so replacing ball joints for the sake of the gaiters was annoying. Probably down to cost reduced made in China parts or health and safety concerns over the materials used, so if you can, buy N.O.S. parts made in the U.K. for that old rebuild.

Proper bikes and proper no stop riding, makes you want a pre 65 / twin shock bike. I bet most of the enthusiasts on this site could aspire to riding like that and achieve it yet we all look at the 'World Championship' and think it reflects our sport ! Keep those feet up !

I have only had front page viewing of articles up until recently so I may be talking rubbish but the F.I.M. video shorts of the indoor rounds has got to be some of the worst advertising of our sport ever produced. You get a brief overview of the area where the event takes place then 1 second snapshots of a bike hitting a step or other large obstacle all to irrelevant music ! The whole world championship is irrelevant to the absolute majority of participants in our sport, go to any local trial and look at the cross section of riders and I bet you will find a couple of experts, 25% intermediate 50% novice / easy route rider and the balance made up of riders just out happy to use their bikes ( I should say I am in the southern part of the country and am relating to club / centre restricted level events. These ratios can of course be bickered over but hopefully you get my drift ! ) It must feel necessary to some to appear to belong to an extreme sport, but how does the World or even British Championship relate to normal weekend riders and for an even more diverse relationship what about the ever expanding classic trials scene ? Can anyone remember how Fantic came to an end ? They were all powerful for a number of years and then collapsed, was that financial or technical ? Perhaps a wake up call is needed to the whole trials community, do we need a full scale world championship ? As has been said before it's about getting bums on saddles and the ty mono did that without any world championship exposure. Regards

Just look in the up coming events on the front page and then work out where all the pre 65 bikes have gone. We have a championship round in the south eastern centre in a couple of weekends time and it clashes with both the Sammy miller and the new national twinshock championship series, but both of these apparently issued their dates after the S.E. club had committed at our centres dates meeting ! Perhaps we are just lucky and have too much choice.
