  1. TXT 280 2001. PHBL 26 Dellorto BPR 5ES as recommended. New to trials and 2 strokes. I know the reeds help with fuel/air mix. Could the be effecting the running? If I get around to starting again later I will take a short video.
  2. Stripped carb again. Changed idle jet and re set the float and changed oil to Putoline. Starts fine, but still splutters. Played around with plug gaps (got three set up) Still not smooth. Stutters and not as crisp as I would like to think it should be. Hesitant and then bursts into life. I am always mindful of what me and my mate say about issues. If you think it's fuel it's probably electrics and vice versa. Are there any other check or thoughts out there please? Getting a bit frustrated now.
  3. What do you find better about the trials compared to the enduro exactly. I went from an XR 600 which I never really had much chance to use, to getting a Gas Gas that I have ridden a few more times and not long had it.
  4. Plumbed for a piece of 90 deg plate screwdd to plate and velcro to bike if atrong enough. As such easily removable.
  5. Well i havechanged the pilot so will see the effect of this and the non silkolene oil before playing eithneedle height. Ir too many things changed at once perhaps

  7. I shall the needle leave as is at the moment. I have a 34 idle jet to try and don't want to change too many things at once. Also bent the float tangs. Kev at Gas Gas Motos, reckons 16mm and not 18 and his advise seems well respected. Back together but too dark to try. Most interestingly and I should have spotted it. Gas Gas bikes don't like Silkolene oil and guess what I was using. Got some Putoline TT pro to try instead. Hopefully all should be well now.
  8. Thanks. I did see some tapered ones but have elected to go for an 6x8 inch which seems a reasonable size. Now how to mount it without cutting lots of holes and easily removable at a trial.
  9. That sounds great. I must see if they do a local one or at least something similar. Are they open to Enduros or just trials? I now have my bike road registered which is great and should allow me a degree. of flexibility.
  10. Interesting points to take into account. Like most things if you don't abuse things then there is probably a general accepting if the effort if made. I suppose trials is more likely to attract attention than a normal road bike with having no lights etc. Having said that some road sport bikes have tiny plates barely visible and they seem to be hardly ever pulled...famous last words.
  11. Having just received back my V5 for road registering my TXT 280 (thanks to all those who gave advice) I am now wondering what is an appropriate size of registration plate to get. The same size as my road bike would look daft, and yet some of the ones I saw at a trial today are no bigger than the width of the mud guard. I understand there is a legal requirement but wondered if there was an 'accepted' size for a trials bike?
  12. Is this right too? It says 1st or 2nd down from the top. Is that the pointed end or the slider end?
  13. I have only recently bought an 01 TXT 280 and seem to be having stuttering problems just off idle. I have cleaned the carb and blown through all the jets but it just doesn't seem crisp an after a while dies. I stripped the carb tonight to have look at the jets to see if they matched the spec, The pilot seems to say 31 and the main K270. Does this make any sense? The USA site says 36 for pilot and a main of 90 which bears not resemblance to mine. I was intending ordering up new ones, but wondered what the ones I have in could be for.
  14. Wow. How at ease with the bike is he?
  15. An 80 mile loop on a trials bike John? Wow. Mosrtly standing?
  16. Very well produced video with great camera work. Even better rider. I watched it with my partner and she said it was especially good to leave the part with the bike falling to give a balanced impression of the rides. My only gripe....trials clothing is the worst styling of any sports clothing.......my opinion of course!!!
  17. I have come a cropper with my insurance company underwriters wanting me to fit a speedo. I'm unclear. Its an MTB one acceptable or even just the use of a mobile with GPS. Like most things I guess it is just to appease the company. You can swap things after an MOT if one was so inclined. So daft really to insist on one.
  18. Thought I had sorted my paper work then my insurance company decided they wouldn't insure without a speedo. The buggers so I will have to delay sending the paper work and ponder what to do.
  19. Were they of a similar format or just much more linear than up and down?
  20. A twenty mile trial? Wow! Sounds more like an endure..
  21. A bit of a whimsical question really. I was watching the video of the Scottish trials and there was some main road riding between venues. I was just wondering how far a field people have been on the road, to or between trials?
  22. Confirms why it is worth road registering my bike. Cracking watch.

A quick check please. My new rectifier has come. This one has a white and yellow wire (as well as the red and black) whereas the previous had the 2 yellow. Is the white wire with bullet connector the earth or thermostatic switch. I really don't want to connect incorrectly and I cant seem to find a wiring diagram with the white wire shown.
