If remember correctly the early models did suffer with main bearing problems and locked up and spun in the casing
Never leave a known problem to result into a possible destruction.

Glad this has come to light as i maybe be getting a new bike shortly and fancied a Beta but this is enough to put me.
Duggan i would ring Lampkin`s up and ask for some response to having spent

I would kick off with the importer as this happen on the Beta Rev3 02 model. On first outing jump over a 3 foot wide ditch and cracked it just by the landing. Beta did release some that was ok not like the sugar glass ones on the first models.
I believe that its a money making scam as

Awesome things for long lasting repairs. I find a flat blade screwdriver better than the proper tool as they tend to pull the turd back out plus one less weight to carry on road trials.
-
May you should try a Gear lever instead of a Shifter
Mine as had loads of hammer bending it back into shape and still fine, but i believe the newer version has a cut in it designed to snap, as in to save the gearbox selector.
-
Then they are nt that good an expert. Tony Scarlett Beta looked like new as it approached 1 year old as a few other riders i could mention. I used the word in general.
You see more clubmen novice bikes in sorry states than experts in my opinion.
-
The top riders i see have excellent bikes and would doubt they would ride with a knackered clutch and any faults unlike lesser riders. If you listen to riders bikes they often sound sweet as a nut and often look well too.
End of the day the bikes top riders have generally dont get mashed into rocks, dropped, stuck on full bore etc etc.

Ive had trailers for twenty years and now use a bike rack which is fantastic on me Astra coupe 19cdti, cant tell its on the back unlike a trailer which bounces the car on bumpy roads.
You can only do 50 MPH on the motorway towing i believe, but 90 MPH with a rack

The 2002 to 2006 are the same fitting so 06 is about the best you get.

I have always wonder do the likes of Bou Raga etc have numerous pratice bikes or do they use the bike they compete on to be accustomed with the machine for WTC. Also tyres do they replace them every day on a 2 day WTC and how often in practise ?
-
Unfortunatly Thatcher Years turned us from producers into consumers which is great until the money runs dry. Thankfully we are not in the Euro which do wonders to the members now controlled by Brussels.
The reality of it is that bikes have not really progress to require a new model like days of old, sure maybe a tweak here and there but a few year old well kept bike still does the job with finances in mind.
Also the motorcycle market will become less as it becomes ever more difficult to enjoy, as the powers that be, stop land useage and criminalise those that participate.

I did my mains last year on me 07 and i think they had some changes on the mains at some point prior to the 07 model the dealer informed if i recall correctly. So have you purchased the correct ones ? its the most likley source of failure is the mains seals. I also had a non factory GasGas gasket sent in the post and it fitted very badly, so i purchased another one directly from GasGas uk and the difference in fitment was amazing.
Well best of luck as its a bitch of a job.

I think the Isle of Man maybe a better playground and cheaper option as i have been on two occasions and Greg lived there some years back and it seemed pro bikes. It even had sign posts up directing off road routes.
-
Non stop is poorly observed from my experience. At Keighley gates i have had points for what i considered a near stop then actually seen Dan bounce backwards and dab only to recieve a Point. The top riders get away with alot as i fived the opening section on the jackwood River Kwai as did a young lady only to find she recieved a three. I have heard some observers say a 1 or 2 second stops ok by me so how fairly policed is that.
Most beginners and novices stop in sections foot select gears etc and giving them points for every stop would be demoralising i would assume. Futher up the chain the level often requires some hopping on the move which i can hop fine but have struggled as to keep motion and make the tight turns for a non stop event.
In short im not a fan and think its more to do with an ageing amount of riders not attempting the hard route with the top level riders of late like most sports, are of a higher level than yesteryear.

Hark at Steve McQueen in The Great Escape

Trinidad ? maybe a new spliff gearbox

Go early on the sections as they will ice n polish up. Go a gear higher than normal and dont touch the clutch, as speed is your friend.
As for me i concur with, Sit back, feet forward and hold tight to your can of lager and TV remote
Nightmare journey to trial, trials cancelled, salt on bike, Hose pipe frozen, bike rusty and missus P155ed off as normal.

Run it up n down the road for a few miles and it will burn the oil off. Most build up oil if not run hard or its a case of Caustic Soda and that clears out unused oil.
-
I did the same thing with a screw that punctured my Rad. I bought some of the metal compound its called liquid metal i think and its like putty you add an active agent then wotk it together and apply. I did mine over a year ago and its still okay no leeks at all.
Must admit seems you bought a right nail or just plain unlucky. Take an hammer to the b4st4rd and hit it til it submits

Ive got EBC on the front and they are crap, as they give up in the mud. Never again.

Amazing how people opinions differ. I have had 3 pair`s of Sidi Zero and find them to low on the shin (scar to prove) and the sole offered little grip, with an overall feeling like lead. They have an heel which i found it difficult to get my footing right on the pegs.
Sidi`s offer loads of grip and are like slippers with a flat sole which seems better for me at settling on the pegs.

Ring GasGas Uk and option 4 this will give you Tech advise from the horses mouth so to speak. I had issues with my bike and now it runs 100% after following Mr Hipwell`s advice.

Black thigh boots 6" heel does it for me every time
