I bought one new for the scott once. The worst pile of SH!T ever i would liken it removing your shocker and using a lump of rubber to make your day even more difficult. Buy a worn tyre of ebay that will be better for sure. You get what you pay for regarding tyres which the rear is about 80% of everything in terms of trials.

I went up to Ben Nevis to watch the worlds round in 1992. It was the sections from hell as they made the riders look bad. A chap came with us not knowing anything about trials and kept asking where are the good riders, hard one to explain when the best ride we saw was 3`s.
On the up note i was sat in a Pub and a stunning blonde asked if the seat`s next to me were available. Then Jordi Tarres came and sat next to his girl friend the blonde, and smiled and gave a nod.
Cant remember if Tarres actually lost the championship that year to Tommi Ahvala.

I struggled with mine having come off a Beta 250 rev3. I changed to a slow action throttle and then really like the bike. Its possibly the cheapest quickest and most effective fix. I guess they change year to year as an 07 280 is a beast but ive heard an 09 280 is the in between a 250 and 300.
Not keen on the 2010 model prefer the 09 for looks

I dont think a tyre really comes into it that much as after 2 or 3 rides the edge is off. I find a tyre is great then stays pretty good for ages then really goes off. A ex british rider told me he preferred a worn tyre in the drier months if on rocks as the wall was mega soft, and said he would do the scottish on one tyre if it lasted. I take that with a pinch of salt.
Save youre cash and the bike sell it and get something that will suit you. The engine mapping will be different to all other Gassers and possibly the cylinder porting. Then you need flywheel weight most top riders used 300 07 standard model with keihen carb and a weight with slow action throttle, as told by one when i bought mine second hand in 07. Ive done the Scott and Jackwood and seen the Raga riders hanging on for grim death after 30 sections or more just because of the shear power delivery, not impressive to see a rider beating me then failling everything knackered later on.
A 200cc is possibly the best adult bike to start trials on then onto 250.

I had an Husaberg 400 then KTM250EXC then finally a KTM450EXC. I loved it when i went to Wales on me old Husaberg with me mates and we hooked up with some Londoners who had the lastest dearest best everything and talked none stop how good they were, also roosting me mates who did little riding. My time came when they announced that we the Yorkshire lot probably wouldnt make it up the next hills n ride.
I took my chances gladly using me trials skills whilst they spun up flipped fell off, with one burning a clutch out. I sat ot the top to admire the view some 20 minutes whilst they came up quiet as mouses.
That old Husaberg gave me more pleasure than me new KTM because it looked dated and that was the best challenge to make it compete with the new machines and beat them.
The Honda C70 was a great little bike for trying to get A to B green lane.

Ive never heard of a WICH tyre is it new

it will be a gearbox breather. If youre mains are going you will know and so will everyone else within 30 feet, as it will sound like a steam roller then followed by the seals going using gearbox oil smokin its tits off while running badly. Water can get in via the head or base cylinder gasket or the water pump shaft seal (most common cause) that said if you have done work on the top end you usually have to recheck the bolts after running the bike for settling of gaskets sometimes.
If all fails sell it to some sucker on Ebay

Ive ridden Betas and currently ride best on me Gasser finding loads of grip. The Raga is top expert bike and you dont see many actual top experts on them. Getting a Raga for a beginner would be akin to a 16 year getting a yam r1 instead of a 50. Best bet sell it as you could throw hundreds at it to tame it and never succeed, so get 250cc bike that you try out and find you like.
I had a Fantic that never gripped and all it did was ruin me day out and p!55 me off then i bought a Beta zero and happy days.

I dont think it value at all. For

Snapped the bugger in the cold weather and im shocked at the cost

I liked Two Dales at Matlock but its no longer in use. It had it all steam hill climbs rocks really great place.
Now i think it would be Tong Bradford but it often gets to busy attracting 120 riders on some occasions. The waterfall is a good old section a do or die number.
-
Not much on this weekend i can see 24th. Ibex Mcc is running a trial at Bracken rocks, ive never heard of them so is i worth going etc.
-
Other than the last two sections i thought it offered little challenge to the riders other than rushing through sections. Its not very skill base, as i would never think Dabill would beat currently Fuji inform head to head on skill not pace. its really taken the ethos out of it.
-
Best gloves ive ever bought, i think they are 2 or even three years old but discoloured due to my washing technique. I thought they would never last given the cost but have served me well and would recommend them.

Ive riden in non-stop got 5 or 1 for stopping and seen experts stop 10 seconds or so only to clean. I hate the non-stop as its not achievable to police it correctly as most observer`s have not got a clue other than a 1 is a 1 and a 2 is as 2 etc. Also the sections ive seen in non-stop often have 120 degree turn a bike length then a climb, impossible so you stop dont dab and get a clean but dab and get 5.

You can practise at 3 shireshead farm near Buxton. Its just off the Buxton to Leek road and the farm charges a few pounds. Manchester 17 use this venue for the Fisher trophy trial.

Ive ridden 250 280 and own a 300. The 280 in my opinion is very aggresive and snappy with the 300 having smoother delivery and more bottom end . The 250 is just smooth and will suite clubman to inters. I think a 300 could be used by clubman but would wear the rider down more than a 250. The 280 i would place as an inter expert bike. I bought my bike second hand having rang GasGas uk and forgot chaps name but he said the 300 would be ok for me and i ride novice/inter.

10-42 and only use first unless large climbs involved. Years ago i often used higher gears but a ex top british rider gave me some tips which i never knew about and one was about using first gear which in general keeps the bike at the speed you actually need. We actually did practise sections for a laugh not covering the clutch at all and the grip level is mad, which is where normal riders lose grip clutching the bike.

The 1997 bit is the problem.
You need to repack the exhaust then strip clean carb and check inlet and reeds if that fails try new jets as they maybe worn given the age of said bike.
-
tyre weld from halfords works for me every tyre change.
-
6" heel thigh boots every time. As for me Alpinestars 1 1/2 years old still good shape and comfortable. Sidi was the worst boots ive ever had, they offered no grip and felt like two blocks of concrete with loads of stitching to fall apart.
-
How come its not made front page like Sherco and Scorpa? The photo shop is bang on as it needs the tank vamping up, as the current scheme lets the bike down.
-
Awesome just need to be paid in Euro`s . Great to see a real new design which takes us back to the late 80`s early 90`s when things really went forward, no 2mm tweak here and there.
