  1. I think if this weather which it will, may give Dougie a chance on a win. Only a northern nows nowt like it. (Nothing lasts forever) Echo and the bunnymen awesome song so sums up Doug
  2. I think im about to buy a gasser after 6 years of Beta and if i buy an 07 can get a pick of several items from gas gas uk. My current sidis are shot to s**t so im thinking novagar as they are a freebee option. And is the gasser ok as the Beta was a real pain in the ass with the carb and seemed to get crap in it regardless of me once a ride clean air filter.
  3. I had same issue with nzi helmet 1 carbon and 1 standard. As you say the fit is to wide and feels odd so i gave up with nzi and got hebo lid.
  4. I would look for a Gas gas JTR or JTX 250 i think its a 96 97 bike. I had one and it was the best built bike and least trouble ive ever had. The txt followed and the frames were poor rusting and cracking. The Pro only became good on an 04 so out of question in price. Mont are good but i never really rated them that good to ride. Beta 99 techno would be a good buy as its the last of the range prior to the Rev3 which came out in 2000 which had a number of issues until 01 model. Buy boots etc from Ebay but not your bike. As pointed out condition not year is the main issue with a trails bike or you will throw money hand over fist at a tired bike. Best of luck
  5. leave the rear shock alone as you hop the bike not the bike bounce you around. If youre unable to do hopping then you need to learn the art of it. My friend years ago buggered around with his beta strippy and it cost some to get it back to standard setting as in yes it hopped but crap in sections with rocks, pebbles even. Take what you might get in advice from fathers with a pinch of salt as ive heard all sorts of crap to be honest. Ask an adult inter or expert and im sure you ll get the right reply. I learnt but riding on falt land and made a circle to which i made it smaller and smaller and likewise with a figure of eight. Best of luck
  6. The most robust bike in terms of dropping it on rocks and least work i would say is Beta. The frame is alloy like Montesa which will not dent if dropped like Gasgas or Sherco and Scorpa the petrol tanks look pretty but seen one or two damaged which i guess is expensive. The Beta 250 flywheel weight on or off is a good all rounder soft to ride and good with grip. Gasgas and Sherco are more liverly but maybe suite a seasoned rider as they in my opinion are slight level higher in the expert field. Montesa four stroke is robust but may or may not suite you as it will ride different to a two stroke and cost of maintainence and purchase is to be kept in mind. Best of luck
  7. phew now covered 40k on new chain and still as new as it will be on Ebay next week as soiled but as new.
  8. Maybe a fan belt Greg would finally give you the upper hand to win me when it snapped. Invested in R1 think bike replacement next time.
  9. looked on the net and would like to know if you can find results or overall standings from the 80s. Seems that the history on the net is rather thin. many thanks
  10. yep you were right we mixed it 50:50 with normal unleaded and Motul syn oil only did it once but f*#k i made a diference.
  11. Try avgas think thats the generic name for it. Its fuel for prop planes and its really high on the scale above 100 octane. Tried it and bike went like a works bike awesome. MX riders use it often and says it extends the life of the motors by 50% ?.
  12. ok enough said renthal r1 it is. thanks
  13. Always used bike trialer but recently purchased as new bike rack. I have an Astra Sxi coupe and a Beta bike which seems ok on back of car but the bike seems to move somewhat to me ie flexing of the rack i guess. Is this ok i dont believe it will hit the car but i feel uncomfortble with the moving and find myself looking in the rear view mirror with dread.
  14. Time to buy chain and sprockets, but what to buy as i usally replace bike first. Iris is

    Crap In Carb

I clean my air filter quiet often 1 or 2 rides, but on removal of my carb i find dirt in the bell entrance. The mudguard is a replacement which does not have the rubber seal as the original did have. This as resulted in me now replacing the piston due to wear. I do jet wash generally the bike all over so could this be the cause. On a different note ive removed the fly wheel weights and wow the bike is far better to ride no loss of grip but more response and revs out even better. Merry Crimbo
  16. ISSSSH im trying to do ccna . its the most boring thing ever. Trials riding keeps my sanity. IT is the pits unless your a devoted propeller head.
  17. GREG Come back to what you know BETA. Heard you was on about chucking in your gasser for another Beta
  18. Hi i did the trial 12th and on me arrival back at the pub noticed id lost me kickstart. Did anyone find a kickstart for a Beta Rev3 ? if so please give me a call and i will be most grateful. Carl 07971157868
  19. I never had a problem with 4 rev3 ive had. I use silicon on the cover and remove monthly to clean and reseal. If ridding in extreme water conditions naturally take the cover off to dry once home.
