  1. Looks okay to me as the case holds it when on. Ive stripped a few Pro engines n taken paw out n replaced it.
  2. Raga after the slight stop actually rolled backwards on the rear wheel whilst flicking the front around. I hate non stop with a passion as its never observed fairly and most observes say dont worry ill be fair ?
  3. Im positive i broke mine, but the useless ass of a eastern poor speaking doctor xrayed my upper chest not the lower ribs as i told him. I couldnt cough sneeze or laugh and years on it often hurts a little.
  4. Ive not ridden for a well over a year and last time i used my bike it was serviced and i often ran it up to temperature to keep it in good condition. Last year wife wanted a Veg rack in garage and against my advice we had one. The mouse then made home n i trapped it and got rid of the veg rack. Last week i finally got out on the bike to find it running rough after 5mins so clean carb out n all was well for a while then it re occured. On the third occasion i opened the airbox only to find a bloody mouse nest and it had eaten me air filter hence me issues. Fitted a new mouse filter n all sorted on me first trial in a while.
  5. The engine is still the 1994 Techno albiet a few teaks, not bad run out of it as i dont think a 1976 engine would be around in 1994.

    Kickstart

Yep its common and best remove clutch and then idle gear and inspect the inner side as you will only see outer side. The kickstart gear is usually ok but as said if both or one wears then it tends to crack the clutch case. Been there done it all. Generally down to poor starting method.
  7. I had a 2007 300txt and now have a 250txt 2011. I ride as 50/50 and come in top ten and had a few wins. The 250 in my opinion is snappy so i fitted a S3 fly wheel weight then fitted a head insert the gold one low compression. Its now ok but does not suffer to lift front end extra that is down to clutch n timing of throttle. In conclusion i find the 300 softer and more power on top end if required, the 250 seems snappy yet gives as much power but not the low down torque that you need, next bike will be a 300 be it Beta or Gasser
  8. Very aggresive bike the 290s an expert bike only as me mates had em and they went backwards in results. They cant turn like a Beta or Gas Gas so you need to consider that as well.
  9. Surely you knew that the bike was running rough prior to it blewing up. Dont knock the brand as its 6 and 7 years old bikes that you should know from Mx back ground to keep an eye on things. Most common non starting is carb usually dirt in the carb, then poor connections and remove fly wheel cover n check its clean and dry. Naturally all bikes age and have issues and what you buy.
  10. I have never really heard an old Sherco sounding nice, they seem to wear out quickly. My mates had 290 Sherco and they soon got rid of it as the power was to agressive plus it never turned like a Beta or Gas Gas, always had to be hopped around to get in tight sections. They went from top ten riders to bottom third in compertions as they couldnt get on with the bike. Stick with the current bike if work is an issue as an 2011 could be in worst state than yours mechanically.
  11. Unless youre doing indoor worlds round why bother with a x lite. stick with X11 as they are great all round, easy to fit on rim unlike Dunlop n IRC have yet to prove themselves as they went down on all rims, i have Morad rim n me mate had older rim n the IRC still went down on impact. 18 inch is 18 inch come what may n if all tyres work on a Morad rim barring IRC then its not the rim at fault.

    Gear Oil?

ATF does not swell clutch plates. Ive used it for years n never had any issues. ATF is by default desgined to work on multiple clutch plates under extreme loads. All my cluches have lasted years and never had drag. Most likley is air in system or a leak within the hydraulic system. You could check the clucth basket for signs or damage or wear.
  13. Get fiitter n you sweat less end of. Failling that just rinse with shampoo or get Hebo as did then as said remove liner n wash.
  14. The old 280 were horrible to ride, snappy aggressive and you will most likley regret it or throw loads of time n money to calm it down.
  15. Yep, should be zero play in crank.
  16. Montesa or Beta will be the best bet for a cheap old bike. Scorpa is flimsy easily damaged when dropped, Sherco never sound nice when old and early models had crank issues. Gas Gas early pros were trouble. £1000 will buy something old, but £1500 should but something like an 07-08 model and £500 can be easily spent on an old nail of a bike if you buy cheap.

    Evo 250 Or 300

Id go 300 as larger bikes often have more bottom end and less snappy. My last bike Gas Gas 300 was great just put slow action throttle on, now my current bike Gas Gas 250 is a real bitch to ride so i have put low compression head on and s3 flywheel weight. I have ride both 250 and 300 and i would say both were great however i found the 250 flat n the 300 rode better for me. Smaller bikes often need revving to get them going resulting in wheel spin unlike on tap power. End of the day its down to what you like n get on with.
  18. Buy a second hand one ebay if buget is an issue. Vee rubber is crap, x11 is only way to go as not sure if still same but IRC did have issues with last batch of tyres. The front seems to effect little compared to the rear to which grip is the be all and end all of the sport.
  19. More like 4th gear you'd not bump start on Tarmac in 2nd
  20. They aren't good you'd cut em at the lock end. An alarm is best followed by more alarms. All locks n chains can be frozen with liquid ice then tapped with a hammer to shatter them. I reckon chains n anchors on the floor are easier to tackle than one hanging from the wall to the bike. Rottweiler was the most effective thing I ever had ex took him when she left yippee! the bike got nicked shorty after boo!
  21. Your pc is most likely to high spec and the disc is 32 bit for xp or vista
  22. He told me it was a ktm barrel not sure about head. Then it had a home made exhaust. Certainly sounded different to 300's
  23. Try in think about the reality of the situation, just a bunch of blokes riding round in the mud and who cares or bothered about it come evening. I try this n sometimes it helps but I still get first section jitters still 21 years on.
  24. Stop is for an era that's long gone. Uk is currently run by a management that's not worthy though out period. Detached from shop floor until the last man most likely served his life switches the light off . We should listen to these guys who do the job not judge them as an arm chair critic
