  1. It will be easier to become a better rider on that than on the heavy old RSJ of a Beta TR 32/33 that Jordi Tarres has obviously got the better of. So its all good
  2. Its a strange world isn't it Michael Schumacher bangs his head in a ski accident and Jordi Tarres rode the early years of his practice sessions over some serious rockery without wearing a helmet and survived un scathed. Goes to show 950gm helmet has to be better than 1200gm.
  3. I am not sure I agree on the tech forks and Ohlins Shock not making a rider better than they would be without them .... its the best £1,300 + that a rider could spend on their bike ...the Tech fork and Reiger 5 way shock have actually been available since the 1980's although only to top riders who also had available to them at that time a revolutionary rear hub design that provided such an advantage that it wasn't long before it was banned in competition by all the governing bodies around the world. https://youtu.be/ODYuQa08R64 Imagine trying to ride like that without a tech fork and Reiger 5 way shock .....its just not happening and that hub clearly makes a lot of difference everywhere .....no wonder they banned it......you can imagine what would happen if Toni Bou had one of those on his Honda.
  4. That fire was back in MAY 2018 and nothing much happened ..........You can look at a 20 year old GasGas sounds like its just a problem with USA parts stock levels....you can obtain spares for GasGas from other countries in the world if you need them ;both new and second hand.

https://youtu.be/IpRVJ83gP0I Clubman usage of the front brake and club sections in the UK and thenTrial GP sections where it can be seen that an excellent front brake makes light work of flicking the back end of the bike around[so what if Bou's caliper is a split bodied AJP and not a Brikbrak Mono bloc what matters to the user is the ease of use whatever make it is https://youtu.be/2jyqxR2D9r0 "A brake like this"? ....https://youtu.be/jw9IoBHPn-Y?t=12m10s ......"Yes please" Bonus information https://braketech.com try buying trials motorcycle master cylinders and calipers here.
  6. Do you have a technical drawing of the fly wheel weight you need making showing its diameter and thickness and position and depth of mounting holes or recessed areas etc ...do you know what the weight of the finished fly wheel needs to be.

Yes; both with the use of a different master cylinder[to obtain more clamping force for less effort of their braking finger] Bou with a Brembo [or Nissin 11mm] 10,5mm piston and Fuji using a Nissin 11mm m/c over a 9.5mm Brickemtik m/c. Lots of calipers will provide braking to the front wheel .......https://youtu.be/YrZVa7sz4eo?t=1m43s Front brakes used to only have 2 pistons not 4 pistons; from manufacturers such as Brembo Grimeca and JPA [ Now Briicbrac] ,,,and they worked as can be seen in the video ..... Its not a case of brakes working, in the case of the Brickbrok Evo17 special more rigid alloy CNC machined ,lighter pistoned calliper it is the the fact that it helps make the front brake lock solid using less effort from the riders finger .......if people do not need that type braking then its of no real interest to them. The brake was developed with Adam Raga who also when at GasGas as their supported rider was one of the driving factors behind shaving weight off the GasGas and so trials bikes went from weighing over 80kgs to around 70kgs wet ....all to help with his trick riding techniques.......the reason why certain people do not see the value of such things is that they do not ride at such a high level or are not trying to ride at such a high level .......but if they were then they would understand the advantages. At clubman level trials a Francis Barnett with drum brakes can beat a brand new Beta Factory Evo At National and International Level the bike could not compete even if it had more power and was allowed to enter and some one wanted to ride one at that level it could not happen.and brakes is just one of the reasons. There is an argument against every thing that tries to help a rider reduce fatigue and effort required to ride...Helmets do not need to weigh 950g lots of people wear helmets that weigh 1200g .....Back in the 1950's brakes were so poor and bikes weighed so much; making braking even harder that riders were forced to wear flat caps that weighed only 200gms in order to save weight. I In conclusion most average club riders riding a clubman route do not even need disc brakes nor a bike that weighs as little as 70kg or a mono shock rear suspension ..........all those things are needless developments for a rider that rides up and down a few small bankings on a Sunday. https://youtu.be/WEZljnqiUg4 They seem to be managing quite well.

There will be no war...........a brake that vicious is something that the top riders require as it makes hopping the rear end around much easier or in an indoor trial when they prop their tyre up against an obstacle with the front raised or are wedged high up straddling two objects etc .......its very desirable to have a brake that OTT if you want to ride using modern techniques.....People who want to learn and execute the same techniques naturally want the same kit to make it as easy as possible ....everything about modern trials bike design takes trick riding into account and the caliper design is no exception. The mono bloc super rigid brake will not be considered over the top by those that do a lot of trick/precision riding. "Does a trials bike really need such a precise braking effort" ? https://youtu.be/nq_HRNQg07s?t=3m37s ......I suppose it depends on how precise you need to be, bearing in mind all braking power is normally only being generated by just the strength of one finger.

    Helmet fit?

Although being able to see the edge of ones helmet if one were to roll their eyes up may be a distraction in certain sections I for one would be very happy to put up with that.

Being able to lock the front wheel solid instantly using only one finger on and off during a full days competition requires a seriously good caliper as part of the brake system.
  11. Imagine what they would say about the way people dress and look today if they popped up in the 21st Century. .......They would burn Toni Bou at a stake if they saw him ride.
  12. They really knew how to look ridiculous in those days ...they didn't have their make up on that day, the circus must have been closed.

Its a good job its not or it would double the price of the bike ............I think it may be Kryptonite .....anyway its called the Evo 17 caliper as a model designation........ the mono bloc in the pictures put up by heffergm of the 2019 GasGas show the old style standard mono bloc caliper .....this is not the same as the one fitted to the TRS Gold .......The 'Evo17 caliper has different screw in piston 'caps' ......as in the key shape for the removal tool is different than the TORX like caps that are shown in the picture. it is CNC machined more rigid lighter blah blah blah blah ......" Free to those that can afford it and very expensive to those that can't".
  14. You may like to check out SWM trials motorcycles around 1977and the Armstrong or Aprilia trials bikes or the Scorpa 294/ 295 works trials bike and the Scorpa Easy model trials bikes made in the 90's.

  16. IMWO.["No not worthless"] as you are just starting out in trials you are going to drop your bike a lot [If you are trying] and it will get sratched and maybe take some damage .....paying 2000 euro more for a bike will not make you ride any better .....but it could be used to buy a new airbox or silencer end cap if you break them while using the bike....if money pours through your letter box or you have a tree in the garden then why ask the question, if it does not then the 17 GasGas is plenty good enough as would a 2004 GasGas pro be good enough with a bit of work. Whatever you buy still needs to be maintained at cost to you unless you are thinking of changing your bike every 3 months linklage bearings, fork seals and clutches wear out at the same rate on a 2017/2019 as they do on a 2004 or 2010 etc .........ok that's sense out the way and as every one else will chip in with 2019 bikes are sooooo much better than the 2017 GG as to make them essential to the first time rider its a no brainer. So that sorts the problem....A 2019 Scorpa it is !......... @nhuskys changed from GasGas 125 to a Scorpa 125 and likes the Scorpa better and he is a 125 specialist so knows things. Enjoy your new Repsol 260.
  17. So you are the tester in the video effin and blinding.
  18. @ric h is It the fact that the Chinese managed to make such a great performing trials bike that has annoyed you .........If not why are you annoyed that I said it was excellent and would be a great bike for a novice or beginner ?. You bought one so I am guessing you just take everything that is in print literally.........do you find that you have a lot of under car damage when someone tells you to go straight over the roundabout .after being given directions?
  19. After today those days may well return.
  20. I recommend a thin layer of marzipan before you ice your knees ....the icing sticks better and dogs love it. As for remedies try neoprene knee supports with or without wire side supports from a manufacturer like EVS at Chain Reaction in N. Ireland.
  21. There is a GasGas txt Rookie 70cc with big wheels on Ebuy UK right now at £980 or best offer located in Ripley.
