  1. guy35, This is my 2 cents take it for what its worth. Clutch useage down hill... on my wifes 08 Gas Gas 125 I don't often if ever use or pull in the clutch when doing a section going down hill(s), however with the extra engen braking of my 07 Montesa 4RT I have found I do on occasion use the clutch to keep better control by preventing the rear from sliding. On the larger bore bikes with higher compression heads etc. I could see where this might be the same on a 250 to 300 2T, however I would guess a little less common. Something to think about maybe?
  2. Double check your bolts? The last time I was on a thread about looseness in rear suspension it turned out he had one of the shock bolts had backed out a bit and only needed to re-tighten them. Don't have an Ohlins on my 4RT so if that isn't it I can't help. Best of luck.
  3. You have some great advice here! Compete against yourself and have fun, that is what its all about. One more thing that might help... I like to find a video of someone doing the same thing I am trying to learn (Example: Ryan Young Video) then to try it several times and when I think I am doing ok then I video myself doing it from several angles and then watch it in comparison to the other video. Best of luck and what ever you do keep at it!
  4. Wow, 2-3 times the cost... bit much if you ask me. Good luck.
  5. Not sure where you are Smokey, but you can get folding trailers that will stand against a wall. I am not sure on size or cost but have seen them when I was looking into what I wanted for moving my families trials bikes around. Good luck.
  6. Sure sounds like an air mix issue. Are you using a spray bottle to check everything from the intake boots to the cylinder head? Have had friends get a small leak in the bottom gasket causing this same symptom. good luck!
  7. From what I remember reading it was to stop the front wheel and bike in the event of the unexpected, I also understood it let him choose to stop the power to the front wheel by pulling on it when going downhill as it had a tendency to make the front want to drop when first cresting a hill. Or at least I seem to recall reading something about that...
  8. Trials bicycle gloves like the POC gloves or similar might be an option out in the UK. People like Danny Macaskill ride with them and I would expect a great second skin like feel. Also knowing what you have already tried might help us avoid suggesting something you already know doesn't work and give us a comparison to go on.
  9. Guess I can see if my dealer can/will ask as well.
  10. Well maybe its time to consider Canada as it is looking like they have them now... http://www.holeshotracing.ca/pre_owned_detail.asp?veh=4701204&nv=y Turns out they are about 10hr drive away from me and might be a bit less complex than shipping from Europe.
  11. I know the kit wouldn't really make a 4RT into a 4 Ride but it would be about as close as I can get without importing one. Now if it is really only around $700 then I do admit that it is tempting... I also seem to remember it is more worth doing if you do more than one bike, but I don't know if that is really incorrect or not. As for road registered it depends on the state, there are some states that will let you road register an off road bike if you meet set requirements. As for the missing bits to make it a true 4 Ride, I think I could live with that myself to get myself close. That and instead of getting a used 4RT I could get myself a 300RR to replace my 07 standard insted of a second older 4RT. (well I can dream can't I?)
  12. need to bring this thread back up.. I want one so bad... us poor US market just can't seem to get it... maybe I should just get a second 4RT and build one? 4 Ride kit: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MONTESA-4RIDE-FULL-KIT-PARTS-MONTESA-4RT-NEW-MONTESA-4RT-CHANGE-TO-MONTESA-4RIDE-/182228795532?hash=item2a6daec08c:g:d0sAAOSwJqpXoNIF
  13. Last time I needed some I went to my near by MC shop, they had it on to shelf.
  14. Not doing this but I may just start... Thanks
  15. Considering the importance of good working suspension and the quality and longevity of the Honda\Montesa bearings in comparison to most of the alternatives I say stick with stock. FYI, the first owner of my bike got a set of the All-Balls and told me it was so loose it was like running the old stock ones so he went back to stock and it was worth it. My 2 cents. good luck.
  16. Bit of a tight wad with my $ so would upgrade my 4RT before buying new. Well... if I had cash for a 2017 300RR I think I would buy new and mod my current 4RT as well.
  17. I thought the 2015 standard came with TECH not Showa? Only the Repsol or 300RR have that...
  18. I would have loved to see how far he could have gone as well... Though I don't blame him/them for the custome setup to make it the whole way.
  19. I don't have a Sherco so can't say for sure, but I would be confident a wire gas welder could stich up my wife's Gas Gas frame if that happened to it, so would think one could do yours. A good shop should know for sure.
  20. I change my Clutch oil (ELF740) every 30 hours, my oil ever 15, and the filter every 30... working great and clean every time... My experience so take it for the 2 cents its worth.
  21. 3 kicks... Have you re-jetted? Most of the hard starting I have seen in bikes can be fixed by jetting.
  22. Sounds like you have the same head shape I have, I have plans to try the Hebo. Should be getting one next payday and will let you know how it fits.
  23. Have one myself, with my wife and daughter riding too it's always a possibility to need the unexpected. I haven't needed more then some minor adjustments yet but you never know.
  24. Thanks Johnnyboxer, my feelings exactly. As for carbureted bikes I think their best chance to continue is to go to something like the smart-carb. Whith how well they work I would expect they are the best chance for keeping emissions in check and not needing EFI. My 2 cents.
