  1. to much power , to much right hand, to much bike for a novice, slow throttle 250 beta great bike to start on
  2. trials training techniques by ryan young not cheap but really good, wish I had watched it years ago
  3. Anyone any tips on straightining my rear brake lever , I have taken it off, that was not the easiest thing i have done either really tight fit. Its bent about 30 degrees from the back of the stop, i am assuming that should be straight. should i warm it up or do it cold . any idea how much a new one is?? cheers. 06 beta riders put a softer throttle spring in, makes it a different bike.
  4. Hi betarev3 had the same problems as you with carb from word go ,great to read you have decided to go for the new carb, whats the outcome is it better, does it not leak fuel, does it start facing down hill. if you are pleased with it may find myself buying one
  5. Considering the rev3 been in production for 7 years, don't you think the factory should have sorted this by now.Not right on an item that costs
  6. read these carb problems with great interest have a 06 250 leaked fuel from day 1 , done all mods including drilling out ,stopped fuel leaking out, bike runs great ,i donot want to change carb, but it will not start facing down hill, if you are queing for a section facing down hill, it will not start have to bouunce it round level then starts, can someone tell me why??? , what is the petrol flooding, if it is, if I knew the problem i might be able to stop it, any ideas anyone. please dont say turn it off at each section, thats a joke. This carb problem is spoilling what is a gret bike for me, this is my first beta and proberly my last, someone should have sorted this years ago.
  7. Surely you wonder why anyone would take the mono off a yam and ride it as a twinshock, its cheating. The rules for twin shocks must be straight foward have a class for pre 78, that rules out your fantics and tlrs, mainly for ossa, mont. TL, bultaco. have a post 78 class fantics, tlrs . and have a specials class for the chopped yams and cotswolds. peaple are always going to change head angles , lower footrests its all part of the enjoyment of the sport. when you add discs or remove mono to add shocks its just not in the spirt, I have seen a RTL honda with shocks now thats taking the p***.
  8. hi, when you say a gollner kt do you mean his special peril or the standard kt, there is a kt site with pictures of the standard green kts, Golners was actually called a peril they had a chrome frame built i think by the wasp guys and they mostly were yellow... the wasp yellow,, some were red ,
  9. Try and borrow Ryan Young Trials Traing Techniques Video or dvd, explains how to tackle steps, just a good watch wish I had seen it years ago.
  10. read the vhst page in the beta section. join the happy gang of p****d off riders who own betas that keep flooding, mines brand new, i bet you were facing down hill when you were trying to start it, all you can do is bounce the bike round to face up hill open the throttle and give it 3 or 4 kicks it will go , i have been doing it nearly every section for the last few weeks, great ,when you are at the front of the que and everyones waiting to go. beta should have sorted this problem out years ago.
  11. betrarev3 seems as we have had exactaly the same problems , absolute nightmare, I just want to keep the bike serviced and ride every sunday. I have got my float set at 4mm and it still wont start facing down hill, i am going to try another 1mm this week. drilling the hole stops the fuel coming out the over flow but it now goes to the jet. phoned lamkins again they say set at 3mm and exepct fuel leaking out what a load of crap I dont think thats right. I would still like to know where to buy a dellorto, lamkins did not seem interested in selling me one they said they are a problem and i will always be adjusting it , is this true. what about a 2mm spacer between the float bowl casing ,that would increase the amount of fuel in the bowl then you could adjust the tangs even lower to shut of the fuel level , anyone got any thoughts on this idea, the problem is obviosly the angle of the carb.
  12. interesting read these pages, I own my first beta 250 ..06 brand new, and the carb has been a nightmare from day one. firstly leaked fuel, had mads done as surgested on internet pages, moved position of hole, stopped fuel leak ,but now will not start when facing down hill. you que up to start a section facing down hill and it just wont start i have to face the bike up hill then it starts its a joke, never had any probs with the gas gas. phoned lampkins , now one has problems with there carbs, ha ,ha, , they do not do the hole mod now as they had the not starting problem , the fuel now floods the piolet jet. they said the float level has to be a set mesurement i have tryed there measurement did not work , am taking carb off after every trial and setting float level higher. again a joke. where do you get these dellorto carbs?? ,does the bowl spacer work are you buying them from lampkin. they new gas gas looks lovely, who talked me into a beta. all i want to do is start the bilke and ride it,
  13. Hi , interested to know what lampkins site is with beta advise on. have been on the beta site just bikes and a contact number for john.
  14. Got a bit carried away filling up the petrol tank on my new 06 beta, and it overflowed ,wiped it off thought no more about it. now looking at the bike in the garage the black centre graphic on the tank and one side beta graphic have lifted off. Is this normal?? . where can I get new graphics, can I buy them seperately. any tips on putting new ones on. dont spill your petrol. also anyone fitted a softer spring in there carb mines a bit snappy.
  15. I have asked steve if its okay to post his email address and he is okay wih it. He has loads of spares and knows an awful lot about ossas, he may have what you are looking for. Steve@marlimar-uk.whanadoo.co.uk
  16. Can the guy who had an ossa engine and wanted a frame reply to this, I have a friend who has loads of ossa spares i,ll give you his number and you can deal with him.
  17. I have just bought a 06 250 and was told to run one tank on 50.1 then run on 70.1, personally I will run on 60.1. The problem with the petrol I smelt petrol a few times when returning to my bike on sunday(first time I had used the bike). not everytime, when I smelt petrol the bike took a few kicks to start, proberly the angle the bike was lent .after reading comments here. has anyone done the drill work to the carb where you use a 2mm drill and redrill the hole, does this stop the hill leaking problem. great things you have to do to a new bike, I hope its worth it in the end or i,ll be back on a gas gas

  21. cheers lads I tryed most of the companies you surgested, for some reason the beta at some of the companies was classed as a grey?? prices really varied. best I could get was through aquote with norwich union direct I have no no claims .TPF&T
  22. Did you try a 06 250 beta? I am really unsure wether to go gas gas or beta 250 tryed a 200 beta, did not like it much to soft and no real go, my 250 txt was a joy to ride i was going to get a new pro but have been put off by all the bad reports on these pages?
