  1. My take on it, for what it's worth, is that people want to ride the bikes they had or wanted but couldn't afford when they were younger. It's what I've found with my classic racing. In thirty years time there'll be 55 year olds buying what is now a new bike and riding in a classic trial. Nostalgia isn't what it used to be..........
  2. I initially thought that, but I re-read the post and saw he'd been using a Clark remote reservoir and petcock.......
  3. I'd strip the carb' again and make sure there isn't a tiny bit of debris/rubber/rust/paint getting in to the main jet and then dropping back out when the fuel starts washing it out.
  4. It will help greatly, there y' go CW.......
  5. CW, if you look in my gallery pictures on this forum, you'll see your old Vic Camp.....
  6. I can't think of any reason why you shouldn't do them at the same time. Just make sure they're not out of kilter when you nip the crankcase bolts back up.
  7. I'm fairly certain you can prise the old seals out and gently 'press' the new ones in. Slack off a couple of the crankcase bolts to give yourself a bit of movement.
  8. Just realised who you are, Colin.
  9. Aha, I've just clicked on who you are. I was telling johnboy999 (he was at Mallory Park with me) you'd bought a MAR.
  10. Has the timing slipped? Worth checking.
  11. Is it sparking at the right time?

  14. As per 'phone call, grind that powder coating off.....
  15. Never taken one apart, so don't know......
  16. Googled it...... Yamaha specs for this bike are : timing is 3.1 mm BTDC point gap .012" to .016"
  17. If my memory serves me well, I seem to think 0.3 to 0.4 mm points gap at 3mm BTDC.
  18. Also, have a look at the operation of the thermostat, is it staying shut when it should be opening?
  19. If you've got a bit of a leak on the gasket, this can cause the cooling system to pressurise and force coolant out as you describe, any air finding it's way in to the cylinder can weaken the fuel/air mixture casing overheating.
  20. Mickey Mouse gets a call from his divorce lawyer, who says 'You can't divorce Minnie for having big teeth.' Mickey replies: 'I said she was f@#*ing Goofy.'
  21. Hmmmm, if you can't get through to buy one, imagine how bad it would be if you needed to get problems sorted........
