    290 Tank range

Probably a bit of an odd question but anyone have a rough idea of what mileage you get out of a full tank? Seen people fitting add on seats which can also carry extra fuel which got me wondering how far you could get on a full tank?
  2. Sorted number 2 rear brake, Had to strip master cylinder and clean all crap out of it as the piston was stuck up top but it's one job done and working well
  3. Long shot maybe but I was wondering if anyone local could help me out, To cut a long story short I bought a bike that's a dog I think but I know nothing about trials so could do with someone just to listen to the motor etc and tell me it sounds o.k before I pull the rest of the bike apart. I don't want to start spending money and time on it turn up at my local pay and play for everyone to say motors rough. So if there's anyone over this way that knows bikes a pm would be welcome More info on the bike in the Beta forum
  4. Hi, Newbie here with a new to me Beta 250 and plenty of questions the bike looked fine when I bought it but looking over without the rose tinted glasses I think I've bought a dog ? 1- front brake works but feels crap hopefully clean the pads up and re bleed and it will good to go? 2- rear brake worked just about yesterday today nothing again I'll rebleed it and hope for best 3- The rear disc feels proper loose, It is tight and has spring washers on. Having read about replacing bobbins im hoping there missing or proper worn. Are the discs supposed to have a bit of play? 4- brake arm on the back is catching the chain slightly can't work out if I need to replace the arm or if it's one of the chain guides that's pulling the chain towards the arm? 5- Engine mount (top) was loose so I tightened it up and noticed it looks like it should have 2 parts so it bolts to both sides? Sorry for the essay bought the bike serviced and ready to ride from a buyer and seller on eBay , Even says brakes are crisp ! Not contacted the seller as I'm partly to blame for not checking the bike more. Lesson learned I like to tinker not new to messing with stuff so I'm gonna have to make the best of it !
  5. Well the deal fell through so next on my to view list is a 2006 Beta 250. I've read about the water pump cover problem and to check rear shock so hopefully I'll get to look it over when I'm on my days off.
  6. My current road bike Speedo over reads and I like to know how fast I am going accurately so I use a old mobile phone with a god Speedo app , Reacts surprising quickly but you have to keep charging it so the bicycle Speedo is the better fit and forgot method.
  7. Just been watching junior kick start on you tube its brilliant beats the crap on TV these days ?
  8. Cheers Bilks, My son is having lessons with Bumpys at the moment and once I get my bike it will be my first stop ?
  9. I used to run a wired one on my road bike , First attempt was a basic one which seemed fine but stopped working at 50mph so I scoured the net and swapped to a wired Sigma BC 5.12 from Halfords recommended by kit car owners and apparently good up to 200mph so you should be fine, Easy to wire in use and setup. Unclips from cradle and has time and odo also tested with GPS and very accurate Hope that helps
  10. 2 very different answers there then? Interesting you say your managing with have never ridden a bike ! I've got a CBR600 road bike at moment but thinking about packing road riding in so need something with 2 wheels !
  11. New to Trials and seen a 2006 txt280 pro at a good price and in good condition so the bike is perfect in that way but I've seen a few threads that say this bike is too much for a beginner? I'll be learning the basics at pay and play sites, I've also seen post suggesting they can be calmed down for a newbie. I'm not new to bikes but starting from scratch with trials so would I be best off avoiding this bike ? I really do like it so please tell me I'll get used to it ?
  12. Cheers for the replies Modding the TY is definitely an option as I like my classic stuff and messing with bikes. I have seen a White Hawk version for sale which looks bigger would this be more suitable ?

  15. Hi, I'm looking for a couple of budget beginner friendly bikes, My son had a lesson on a TTR90 and loved it so in want to get him a bike sorted first. There's plenty of bikes for me but not knowing anything about trials bikes is there much out there for 10 year olds? I did think about starting him on a PW or ttr90 semi auto but I think he's going to be limited to where he can ride it and I don't want him asking for a MX bike lol. TY80 is in budget but are they any others to consider? He's approx 4' 7" Not looking into competition just father and son time on pay and play etc
  16. Hi all, New to Trials and joining forum to seek beginners advice for me and my son. In Wakefield and hoping to do some pay and play sites rather than anything competitive.
  17. Hi hope this is the correct place to post this , I would like to try trials and am thinking of doing a experience day with inch perfect trials. I also own a Bantam which I want to convert to mild off / on road use nothing too serious ( I would buy a trials bike for that ) and daylight mot. Ideally something I could use on green lanes and maybe pay and play places as I have a couple near me. What would be the minimum must have mods, mudguards etc seem straight forward, It's fitted with heavyweight front forks. I'm guessing folding pegs, kick-start lever etc but how about wheels? I know I can fit a cub rear swingarm to fit a wider tyre but is there a rear wheel of choice? Engine wise would swapping cogs and a high level exhaust be a good start. Basically I'm just trying to build a bike to play on locally not compete , to dip my toe so to speak. Cheers Danny
