  1. The TY175 is great on trails, provided you're happy to go at 25mph or less
  2. What benefit would that give?
  3. Like group B rallying and Formula 1, perhaps it's time for changes to be made to the bikes themselves to improve safety ... but what could change?
  4. IIRC there's a club in "North Lincs" (Scunthorpe), but judging from the bit below your username you already knew that ... you're probably going to have to travel a bit to find some hills though, no matter what!
  5. If you're modding it, I heartily recommend getting some of the modern yokes, Magicals internals for your 250 forks, and matching them with Rock Shocks at the back. New shocks with stock ~40 year old front springs makes for crappy handling. Stock length is 340mm for the back shocks, no idea on the spring rate but if you order Rock Shocks they work out the springs and valving to suit your weight anyways Good luck!
  6. Hey, no worries, on the internet people generally assume everyone is a guy unless told otherwise
  7. a ) Not a man b ) We have a tiny one-bedroom flat, hence only getting one motorbike indoors
  8. Looks like you could use a bigger helmet In other news, well done for getting it all together
  9. My fianceé has her Gasgas in the living room, it's annoying me 'cause there's not enough room for one of my bikes too ...
  10. A mountain bike with the seat down will do, good for practicing turns on inclines and balance ... no substitute for the real thing, though
  11. A quicker method is to use a cable oiler (£4 or so off of a certain online auction site), and blast WD40 through - takes a minute or so. IIRC Venhill recommend re-oiling after every jet wash (!)
  12. PM me your email address and I'll send it to you
  13. Last pair I got were about £7.50 off ebay
  14. The 349MH manual does that, for what it's worth!
  15. There's a 315R Manual here. I've got a 348 and a 349MH manual in English, the regular 349 manual in Spanish doesn't have a lot of writing, is there anything in particular you're struggling with?
  16. FWIW, despite my flippant first reply, my clutch is smooth as so I suspect you need to give yours some attention. I just threw normal 10w40 oil in last time I changed it. I have a modern steering angle on mine, too, which might give an advantage on tight turns (?) thinking about it I've only really slipped it at all when on full lock and below comfortable tickover engine speed. I have a 12t front sprocket and ride 95% of the time in 2nd gear.
  17. Do you slip the clutch much? I just stick it in gear and use the throttle for the rest
  18. Well yes, the vast majority of trials I do are clubman ones. Doesn't stop some people being super competitive and pushing others out the way to get in front, or being impatient for no good reason
  19. Well, I was using a Dave Cooper rack and a trailer at the same time to cart two bikes around ... all the faff involved took at least 30 mins to load up, with the van it's about 5 mins For me the rack wasn't any faster as the bike covered my number plate, and putting a number board on every time negated the advantage ... it was easier for driving though
  20. I do that, I'm learning - sorry but you'll just have to wait (though if I'm properly stuck I do just extricate myself)
  21. What works for me: 20psi in the tyres. Front wheel at an angle in the wheel chock, so it can't rotate further. One strap to each side on the handlebars, ratchet down so the forks are at most half compressed. One more strap over the seat, just tight enough so the back end doesn't bounce around (or just over the back tyre, if that's convenient). But these day's I've gone all fancy and have a van, it's all very rock and roll!
  22. Yeah, the Florida Way in Wales is something like 180km, which seems like a lot around here!
  23. Yeah, it's a good choice for what you want. Another one to have looked at would have been a TL125, but they don't make as much power. As for the headlight, if you just need a bulb it's going to be a standard type ... is it 6 or 12 volt?
  24. Trials is far far harder and more physically demanding than trail riding, and you don't go fast. Doing slow trail riding on a trials bike is great fun, though Having a mousse would be a major disadvantage in trials - heavy, and you can't adjust the pressure! Depending on conditions tubes with 3 to 8 psi does the job ... flats aren't a huge problem, just ride gently when you get one, lol As for the club, one person with enthusiasm can make all the difference - clear organisation, a practice space, and being easy to access for new riders are things that can help
