  1. Yes I agree. Think of it as a trials equivalent of "less than or equal to" as opposed to "less than".
  2. Schmuck: Euro results We (Cape Town) used to run these rules. It's easier for the observer. The alternative is open to debate: when has a marker become dislodged?
  3. Alternatively you have an airleak. If the carb doesn't show up anything check the rubber hose between the carb and the reed valve.
  4. This has been a thread discussing this. If I remember correctly the early versions had bushings but they now have bearings.
  5. You know Copey, I went away and thought about that. It may not be as difficult as I originally thought. Chewy, see if you can have a look at the Hebo aftermarket extra flywheel for the Gassers.
  6. Not in the UK but try here: Metro racing
  7. I didn't take your requirements as an insult to Shercos or any other modern bike Chewy. Thing is modern bikes are designed for modern sections. The motors are designed to be a small as possible which limits things like additional flywheels (which I suspect is what you need). Can they be improved? Well yes but only, IMO, marginally. Detail stuff. But to change the character of the bike from a modern piece of tackle designed for modern sections to something that would have been appropriate, say, 30 years ago I have my doubts. As an analogy it would be like taking a formula 1 car and modifying it to be a convenient city runabout.
  8. Hang on a minute, wasn't that the freon cooled bike?
  9. I wan't really being nasty Copey. Todays bikes are far better than most of us and it's usually easier to adjust our riding style to suit the bike than other way around. I suspect Chewy is looking for something a little more "old fashioned" than a Sherco and possibly should be considering twinshocks if what I suspect is true. Chewy?
  10. Stop dicking around and, to paraphrase the late Eric Cheney, "adjust your riding style to the bike".
  11. No it was used Copey. But only a bit. I suspect that the previous owner hadn't touched it mechanically. No damage had been done and it's the sort of prep that we should all do. Actually I was cleaning out the carb and decided to check things out and it sort of snowballed from there.
  12. If you have a new Sherco or have not yet pulled it apart, check the airhose connection to the carb. I found mine had not been installed incorrectly (whether by the factory or subsequently I don't know) and the adaptor collet was distorted. As a tip install the airhose to the carb BEFORE attempting to install the carb. It's a bit of a squeeze getting the carb and airhose into place but a lot easier than attempting to install the airhose when the carbys in place.
  13. Dual boot off the CD? No. But you do have if you install it. Alternatively you can use Wine on Ubuntu for apps like photoshop. No probs with drivers. The wirelss problem isn't an Ubuntu problem. I suspect something is running interference on the wirelsss link and not the Ubuntu driver.
  14. It's not even a Pentax rep.
  15. Dave, Aus receives the non-homolgated (i.e. not intended for road registration) models. The Gasser I bought from PeterB in NZ was an homolgated version this had the little doodad on the kickstand return spring but Pete showed me how to disable said doodad.

    Leaky rad

Might be a difficult for Tony. Know of any rad repairers in Manuwatu?
  17. Preferably both wheels to land together.
  18. Yes you're right. The LHS casing has changed with a prominent bulge where the ignition pickup is situated at about 1-o-clock.
  19. Neo, I'm pretty sure the LHS casing is unchanged from previous models. Only the RHS casing has changed.
  20. A cast bashplate isn't a good idea. Casting is very brittle and will crack as you described.
