I had the same happen to my 2001 TXT. It's just the adjuster screw which is a taper that pushes the rod you can see up and down which in turn adjusts the damping. If I remember correctly it will default to the slowest setting.
If you need to rebuild, they are a sealed shock but a good suspension guy should be able to fix. You don't say where you are but if in the UK ask factory Kev at GGUK and in the US ask Jim Snell.
-
John, it's your call but I'll second the idea of giving enduros a bash first. Your (considerable) trials skills will help tremendously in enduros and they're a far nicer bunch of people, not too different from the trials mob. Modern MX is all about wearing the right sunnies and having the right tats.

Can't remember, do Buls share common clutch and gearbox oil?
-
Is that you Peter? Star of stage and screen?
Unfortunately, like most start-ups, Jotagas have now reached the point where the MBA types move in. The original staff are bounced and the new boys, flush with their newly acquired business acumen think that they understand the product and its market better than the founders. This is when the mistakes are made. I've had personal experience of this.

Right smack in my demographic! Except the 305 is a single shock.
I don't think they'll die. Just the support will drop.
We've reached the point where the generation ahead of me (I'm 51) who loved the pre-65's are now reaching the age where they can no longer ride so that branch of the sport is suffering because of it. But your point is valid too.
-
Jon has a point. It's something the twinshock MX guys are suffering with presently.
As you, umm, mature you tend to look back wistfully at the bikes of your youth. Mostly those you coveted when you were 14, 15, 16'ish. Now the last twinshocks were made in about 1984 so the guys who will want to ride them are now 43'ish. When those guys reach the point when they can no longer ride twinshocks will retire to museums.

Only 100 of the 300? Possibly considering its a fairly new model. But I'm sure the total production is much higher than that.
I haven't ridden the 300 but I have the 280 and there's very little difference between it and the Gasser. Both are excellent bikes. Buy the one whose looks you prefer

Cota 247 is a trials bike. Cota 247T is a trials based trail bike. Bigger tank, seat. Different gearing.

Retro, try this bloke: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/armadale/motorcycles/italjet-parts-ossa-parts-minarelli-parts/1020501859

Ben, be careful when throwing around aspersions like that. Trials in a small market and you can cost the importers a whole heap of money and find yourself in big trouble. I appreciate you mean well but, unless you are absolutely 100% sure of your facts, it is best to keep them to yourself and not spread them around the internet.
As an aside, your posts are a pleasure to read considering your age. You have restored my faith in the education system
-
Yup its a 304. Can't speak for its eligibility but it was a cracker of bike. Just watch the gearbox.
-
You have to keep a 125 on the boil. Not a technique I could master at my age. I'm too used to closing the throttle and coasting over stuff. Do that on a 125 and it will stall. At 13 stone I'm also too heavy for the suspension on a 125.

OTF, your posting was terse and, IMO (and others it seems), didn't give the OP the benefit of the doubt. Bogwheeler was a colloquial term for a trials bike in the US in the 60's/70's. No shame on you for not knowing that but you could have worded your reply a bit more diplomatically. Or were you channelling Dabster?
Retro, I did some sniffing around yesterday and Motori Minerelli are still very much alive. In fact they're now bloody massive. If they still exist, someone, somewhere will carry spares.
Sadly, you own a POS. Desirable more as a memento of times gone by than as a decent, competitive machine. But, for historys sakes I hope you get her healthy and back in sections again.
-
<Edit> I see you have found the owners club website and that are in Arkansas and you have a '68 Minerelli engined bike (my condolences!). I can't remember who the US importer was at the time but if memory serves they were fairly go ahead (watch on On any Sunday). You're best bet might be to try and make contact with him.
-
Don't be so harsh OTF, you're hardly doing the sports reputation for friendly, helpful people any favours. It's possible the OP may be in the US (where bogwheeler could mean trials bike) and he doesn't know what he has.
Retro, does it have a Villiers or Minerelli engine. Villiers:
Minerelli:
Was it a trials bike (above) or the enduro bike:
If it is a Minerelli engined bike was the Cavalier?
Or the Cavalier with the fibreglass tank/seat?
Retro, there is a Cotton owners club <http://www.cottonownersclub.com/> but they seem to concentrate on the pre WWII road bikes.

Ben, the design is actually very clever. This is why it is patented. But it is built for a trials bike and components are slimmed down to the minimum that the spec' will permit. Because of this you have to treat the 'box with some delicacy if you're a weekend rider. Booting it into gear won't cut the mustard. It's ok of you're a factory supported rider who gets a new bike every few months and you pass the problem on to some poor unsuspecting soul.
Fix it properly or get it fixed properly NOW and treat it with caution in future and you shouldn't have any more problems.
B40: I don't think you can really compare the Rotax g/box to the Gassers. They were agricultural at the time and they're bloody stone-aged now (but reliable )
-
Not if you're outside the UK.

The worlds best riding in a trial with clubbies:

That's the one Martin. Thanks very much. Now if only we could hear the bikes and not the stupid music!
-
Have you tried through BVM moto?
-
Yeah I did feel a bit self conscious about it.

Just stumbled across this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cepinoo/3225181104/in/photostream/ . Some great trials pics from the early seventies in between the family snapshots.

Not sure whether I should be asking this in the classic or twinshock or Vids sections. There's a video of (I think) the 1976 Swedish round of the world championship. Hosted by (I think) the same club that runs Novemberkasan. Some great names in this vid. Evertson, Lampkin, Rathmell, Andrews, Vesterinen etc. Anybody bookmark it?
Andy, gonna cross post a link. Hope you don't spew your brekkie.
