It's not a new thing. In the 'fifties a mate of my dad bought a new bike and didn't have time to register it. At the start of the trial the plod was doing his plodly duties and noticed that said machine wasn't registered. "New bike sir?" asked he. "yes" replied the accused, sweating profusely. "Do me a favour sir and register it on Monday" said the copper. The accused did so.

How did you swing that Dave? Do the enduro riders subsidise the trials guys?

Pot, kettle, black...join the dots..

Seems like the factory aren't the best of communicators. Birks should have held his horses.

Any engineering workshop worth its salt should be able to re-line your hub. Machine hub, machine liner (steel) so it's an interference fit with newly machined hub. Insert (press) new liner into hub. Drill a small hole, half of hole in liner other half in hub and press appropriately sized pin into hole.

Legally it makes sense. Apple don't want have fat lawsuit dumped on them for aiding and abetting digital piracy.
-
You need iTunes. Free from Apple.
Can't remember. I went through about three of 'em (shop was p****d with me exchanging them) but paid a little for an iPod and Bob's your uncle.
-
Can't see why not. AFAIK the iPod and iPhone look the same to the 'puter/OS. I only get to see the songs (no vids) on the iPod. No playlists. So they appear, to Rythmbox, as flat files.
Copey: kid was bitching about his machine getting slower and slower and wanted a new machine (because he's got jack idea about managing data and, on windows, doing the occasional defrag) so I took his old machine threw off windows and installed Ubuntu. Now he's green with envy.
I know there are some really thin versions of Linux. Boot off a USB memory stick stuff.

I would check the motor manufacturers spec here. As stated above the M8 bolts will certainly do the job but make sure you're not exceeding the maximum load for the car. All very well buying a rack that's rated to 100kgs but the car manufacturer specs a maximum of 50kgs.

Claudio, about the iTunes bit on Wine. Don't bother. The default music player, (Rythmbox) in Ubuntu recognises iPods. Better still is you can take music OFF the iPod and bring it into Rythmbox. This is strictly verboten in iTunes 'cause then every kid would be ripping music off every other kids iPod.
-
Better than stringing 20M of cat5 across the house..
-
Yeah that's for a WAN connection. I'm having probs with the LAN dongle (802.11).
-
Yep, that's it in a nutshell. Wine is a layer that sits between iTunes (windows version) and Linux. In other words Wine translates between Windows and Linux.
Don't diss iPods. You can hate Steve Jobs and the yuppie factor all you like but they're bloody wonderful. Your entire CD collection on a box smaller than a cigarette packet. I tried with the cheap Korean knock-offs but had endless crap getting music on to them
I have the Ubuntu machine on a wireless lan connection. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I doubt it's Ubuntu because the machine works fine on a cable. I suspect either the wireless dongle (most likely) or the router.
No benefit other than it's a (small) poke in the eye to Bill Gates and co.
BTW I didn't say you were ignorant. The culture bit was on the "Bohemiam" tag. It's usually used to describe ermm, effete men with a penchent for interior decorating. Gay they may be but they're usually well read and quite cultured.

Love the music. Billie Holidays Gloomy Sunday aka the Hungarian suicide song.

iTunes on top of wine is a bit flaky Claudio. But for installation see: iTunes on Wine
Haven't tried MS-Office 'cause Ubuntu comes with open office. Experience says it's close to office but no cigar. I haven't tried this version yet. As a spur to get your kids into maths (or at least make it a lot more fun) download scilab. It runs on Windoze too.
I do have some problems with the wireless LAN but on 802.3 it's A-OK.
Ubuntu installation is a peice of cake.

Finally got Ubuntu up and running on the wireless LAN. Lets see how it handles wine and iTunes.

Your mate Jon wouldn't be John Peel would he?

Quote above is from this thread: If Carlsberg made trials films
Just "acquired" some Nick Drake. Jeez, I wouldn't recommend listening to him if you're feeling down. You'll slit your wrists.

Araldite won't work in this situation. Try silicon seal.

DI means the petrol (not mixture) is injected into the chamber after the ports have closed. So the crackcase gets pure air and, hence, no lubrication. The other way to do it is "blow" (super or turbo charger) air directly into the champer bypassing the crankcase. In this case you can have a wet sump. This is how big marine 2t diesels work.
-
One downside to DI is that you must lube the lower end. Not a big deal but it does need an oil pump (in addition to a petrol pump).
It's on it's way make no mistakes.

Another new frame for this year Claudio. As well as a new airbox (I hope this one doesn't leak). Motor? What can you say? It's still the gold standard. Smallest, lightest..
