  1. What a remarkable photo. A real slice of an era. Thanks for sharing. P.S. It's not Frank Williams bottom right is it?
  2. It didn't. It was just a coincidence. Actually I revise that. What can happen is that the stator when warm or hot is more malleable is more likely to get damaged.
  3. Have you timed it? I'm not being pedantic here but if the intervals are approximately consistant it will help diagnose. If the times are consistant then I would suspect the stator. As the bike heats up the stator would expand resulting in an open circuit. When cool the stator will work. Peter, I doubt it's the kill switch. This would be binary and either work or not work. I suspect that dropping the bike on the LHS was coincidence. However is an easy check and it will do no harm.
  4. Andy, why don't you create a new forum called which bike? Maybe it will make it a little bit easier for those punters to find the topics.
  5. A young blonde girl in her late teens, wanting to earn some extra money for the summer, decided to hire herself out as a "handywoman"and started canvassing a nearby well-to-do yuppy neighbourhood. She went to the front door of the first house and asked the owner if he had any odd jobs for her to do. "Well, I guess I could use somebody to paint the porch," he said. "How much will you charge me?" Delighted, the girl quickly responded, "How about $250?" The man agreed and told her that the pink paint and brushes and everything she would need were in the garage. The man's wife, hearing the conversation, said to her husband, "Does she realize that our porch goes ALL the way around the house?" "That's a bit cynical, isn't it?" he responded. The wife replied, "You're right. I guess I'm starting to believe all those dumb blonde jokes." A few hours later the girl came to the door to collect her money. "You're finished already?" the startled husband asked. "Yes," the blonde replied, "and I even had paint left over, so I gave it two coats." Impressed, the man reached into his pocket for the $250 and handed it to her, along with a $50 tip. "Thank you," the girl said. "And by the way, that's not a Porch, it's a Ferrari"
  6. Thrasher Grunge? I wonder if Mick got dizzy?

    petrol

Yes. Firstly the Mikuni MAY have been supplied wit anti-corrosion stuff on the inside (a bit like new disc brakes are). Secondly some of the goo in the tank (sometimes the 2T oil comes out of solution and settles at the bottom of the tank) may have made it through to the floatbowl and has blocked the jets. Thirdly when petrol sits it loses octane rating. It's possible that the octane rating has dropped so much that it's useless. This will need to be cleaned/emptied from the float bowl.
  10. Crikey! Doug's not having the best of luck is he?

  13. Reports sketchy at the mo'. Grimbo in front, Paul Boltons in there, so's Birchy and the Hemingways. Good to see Karl Power from Enn Zud in there too.
  14. No. But I'm stuffed if I can see why comstar wheels would be more dangerous than normals spoked wheels. OH&S will soon have us putting disks over the spokes so we don't accidently put our fingers in them wheels.
  15. Dunno about the paint but there's a thread about TL restos: TL restos
  16. That reaction is a little too defensive...almost self incriminatingly so one might say
  17. Answer: no! Heres a reply I made in another thread: Just had a look at the average UK salaries (UK salaries) 1980-GBP7585. 2009 GBP37,580 AFAIR in 1980 a trials bike would hit you about GBP1,000 or about 12.5% of your annual income. Now we have GBP5000/GBP37000 or 13%. So trials bikes are about the same price in hours worked as they were 30 years ago.
  18. High unsprung weight Claudio. It'll handle like a rock.
