  1. I've only seen one Professional Trials Rider with the Bars Higher than normal , Alex Ferrer when He was on Sherco , There's Pictures on Here somewhere of his bike with what looks like 5-8mm rise , And I think He's over 6ft . Don't Know if He uses Risers on his TRS / I'm 6'1 ... Riding 4 years , Previously into DH and Mx Then onto Trials in My late 30s (seems to be a thing with DH and MX people lol) . Raised the Bars on My Previous 2 Sherco 300st by 5mm with the Jitsie Spacers, Felt really good and no wrist pain or back pain unless I was trail riding for hours , After progressing in the past two years I've Tilted My handlebars forward and this has helped me lifting the back wheel and seems more comfortable when the bike is stood up against an object , I can also lift the bike over logs and objects more easily on Zaps, This could just be in my mind , But it seems more comfortable and that makes me ride better regardless. Even with the Handlebars really forward the 5-6mm rise seems to have made my TRS 300 RR seem way more comfortable. I run the Standard S3 Curve Foot Pegs that Came with the 2019 RR which some people report give them a slight back pain compared to the Flat Normal Type Foot Pegs that have been used for years on most bikes. The Curve Pegs definitely tilt You forward when You have both Wheels on the ground , But they feel good when the bike is on its back wheel. I Dropped the S3 Curve pegs to the lowest point but kept the Markers at the Top of The Gold Tech forks (Steel) Just above the Top Triple Clamp at the stock height (about 4mm below the line at the top of the fork leg just below the adjusters. This is the most comfortable position for Me on the TRS 300 RR so Far , Ill Try the Bars without the spacers for an hour and then with the spacers ,, always seem to prefer the spacers , Like many have said on here , LEAVE THEM ALONE AND RIDE , DOUGIE LAMPKIN IS TALL AND NEVER USED THEM ETC ETC ,, However everyone is unique and If raising the Handlebars 5mm or a little more helps You feel more comfortable on Your Bike , Then that can only lead to the rider feeling more confident and enjoying the Bike more. Does anyone out there know of anyone Riding a TRS with Risers , And If so please let us know . I'd be interested to Know the Pros and Cons from more experienced Trials Riders :) PS NOTE FOR TRS ONE OWNERS OUT THERE , THE NUTS UNDER THE HANDLEBAR CLAMPS ARE 1/25TH PITCH M8 HEAT SPEC NUTS (LIKE NYLOCK NUTS BUT WITH A STEEL TAB INSTEAD OF NYLOCK) BUY THEM FROM TRS DEALERS AND SAVE YOURSELF THE MISERY OF SEARCHING HARD WEAR STORES ONE NUT WAS SEIZED AND RESULTED IN A ROUNDED NUT , I PUT A SMALL SMIDGE OF COPPER GREASE ON THE PINS BEFORE TORQUING THE NUTS, ALSO THE STEEL PEGS / BOLTS SEEM TO JUST BE ONE SIZE ON THE TRS WEBSITE , IVE NOT SEEN AN OPTION FOR LONGER ONES , YOU CAN HOWEVER FLIP THEM UPSIDE DOWN TO GET A LONGER THREAD ON THE TOP SO YOU CAN POP SPACERS OR WASHERS ON TO RISE THE HANDLE BAR CLAMPS , BUT BE WARNED , IF YOU DO TURN THE PINS/BOLTS UPSIDE DOWN THERES ONLY 2-3 THREADS POPPING OUT BELOW THE NUTS METAL TAB , SO MAKE SURE ITS TORQUED TO SPEC (25nM According to Manual)
  2. The 8mm is the space between the shock spring collar/ring , if you look at the ring on the shock with the teeth , that gap should be 8mm between the ring and the shock, hope this helps , it’s also set at factory at 8mm , as regards the forks if you look at the top of the thread you’ll see the settings we’ve been discussing , hope this helps ???
  3. Let us know how you get on Ricki , Would be interesting to hear Your setup for the Vertigo and Reiger Shock and what You find suits You.
  4. What Ratio are You running ? There are numerous Threads on here as regards 2 Stroke mix ratio , And with members that have a lot more experience with Sherco bikes , Ive only had 2 300ST Factory's so far 2017 - 2018 and for both I just go with Sherco Manual recommendation of 100ml of fully synthetic Two Stroke Oil (I use iPone Fully synthetic , Seems good) to 5 liters of Petrol 95 octane minimum. I have run at 75ml of oil to 5 liters of petrol also and noticed little difference , I'm sure Professional riders would notice tiny alterations and probably run lean, However I would prefer it to be rich than lean personally , I'd go with the Manual 100ml to 5 liters
  5. Hi Ricki , The settings Compression 20 open , Rebound 35 open , Preload 8mm are from Reiger themselves and I had to email one of their engineers for those settings , but Sherco Settings for the bike are COMP 10 - 11 Open , REBOUND , 35 Open , PRELOAD 8mm After toying with the Compression between 10 - 20 i found that hopping the rear wheel at 20 open was much easier in tight sections , at 10 i found it not quite bouncy enough , However the bike seems to stick to logs better when hit aggressively at Compression 10 open (or Out as some say , and this means fully closed clockwise and then count clicks out anticlockwise on all adjusters , At the moment I'm at 16 Out on Compression from closed and 38 Out on Rebound from closed fully right and Preload standard at 8mm and it seems to be good for my weight (70kg) with gear/ and it seems a fair compromise between the 2. I test the adjustments 2 clicks at a time starting from stock. so 10 - 12 - 14 and so on. If you look at Pat Smages bike setup on YouTube you can see his settings and a good explanation / Which is pretty much stock Sherco Settings / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80IvV-jZYi0 Hope this helps a bit.
  6. Pat Replied on Youtube / Highlighted reply RYP TV 3 hours ago Fork: Preload 5 turns out Damping 19 clicks out Shock: Rebound 38 clicks out Preload 8mm Compression 9 clicks out Looks like your compression is quite a bit different, might be worth a try. Stay tuned for a video on this coming soon. Thanks, -Pat
  7. After many hours searching the web and these pages I've noticed that there was not much information on what the standard settings should be for the Reiger Rear Shock / After Contacting Reiger , Friendly staff helped me with my Shock Manual once i sent them my Serial. These are the recommended settings for the Reiger 2 way (even though its 3 including Spring) shock that comes with the 2018 300 ST Factory. The standard adjustment for your shock will be: Compression: 20 open. Rebound: 35 open. Preload: 8mm. --------------------------------------------------------- Here are the settings that work best for me so far. I weigh 72 Kg with Gear. Compression 20 Rebound 38 Preload 8mm From Fully Turned clockwise / Compression (Purple Dial) 20 clicks anti clockwise from fully closed clockwise (bought the Reiger Tool online) makes it easier to get to the Dial / Rebound (tight squeeze at top of shock with a very small screw driver) Hard to see with the Frame , Buts its there , Just check at the top of the shock mount and under the subframe. Preload 8mm (would like to see this accessible while the bike still has its plastics on) Future Plans Sherco !!! I thought id post these settings for other users so that they could add information about how they setup their bikes and also to compare what the standard settings are from factory Sherco/Reiger themselves / My Factory 2018 300 was nowhere near the recommended settings from Reiger just to point out. The Fork was also Not set to standard settings / Here Are the standard settings for the Tech Fork Compression 16 - 22 clicks (depending on outside Temperature) Preload is set at half way from fully closed clockwise / --------------------------------------------------- I sent Pat Smage a message on Youtube to which he responded , But only gave the basic settings for what he adjusted on his 2018 Factory Sherco. Pat went 2 clicks to the right on his Shock and Made the Compression Softer on his Tech Fork. Pats a serious rider and if you watch his videos You'll see how good his skills are / and how well the bike behaves while hopping and splatting ! I'm waiting for word back as regards his current settings. If any of You guys could help out with this Topic please add some information / I'm sure there would be a lot of Sherco owners our there happy to have the information all in one place. Thanks Greski. 8. To all the above Members / Thank You very much for all the knowledge , Fantastic to know all of the information ( and some serious information from Dabster , Dan ,Oni Nou, Cascao ,Hgas , ) You have provided and hope someone else can benefit , The setup is crucial , I've been on a few MX bikes over the years and after learning the difference between a balanced Suspension setup and properly jetted bike compared to ( standard factory settings ) are worlds apart sometimes , I will say though the 2017 Sherco 300 ST Factory settings seemed very good right out of the box , Front Forks needed a bit more Rebound but other than that everything feels great , , Any advice on the Rear Ohlins Shock Setup You guys ??? I weigh Just under 11 Stone , The front Forks seem to Travel almost all the way , But Dont know if the Rear Shock is as soft as it should be for my weight .. The Ohlins Manual I found Online is for an older Shock ..And Its not great Any tips would be greatly appreciated ,
  9. Hi There / New to the Forum I have been searching the web for details on Pro Trials rider setups to see what You can do to modify or improve Your Trials bike / After searching all I can seem to find is a little information of Cabestany's Preference for an Enduro Clutch on his Sherco Factory 300 ST. I have noticed theres a Golden Cylinder attached to the Chain Side of Cabestany's bike in pictures from various Competitions / Does anyone know what this is ??? I thought it might have been a special Ohlin's external Oil Shock ? Any ideas Guys n Girls ?? Also if anyone has anything to Add to this Topic or has any Pro setup questions themselves please add and hopefully the community will help us mere mortals out Delighted to be a member / Hope to hear from You soon
