Spanish fly does make one. It is installed from the back of the end cap and is held in place with orings and a flange. It cannot be removed without takes the end cap off, so cleaning will be more of an issue then the RYP spark arrestor but the install is very clean, and no drilling holes in the end cap. Price is about 85$, I’m going to order one today.

I have a question regarding spark arrestors for the current Sherco’s. I just picked up one from RYP and Discovered it’s held in place with 2 wood screws??? It’s a 2 piece design, an adapter screws to the plastic cap at the end of the silencer then you clamp the spark arrestor over that.
I believe Spanish fly makes one...need to do some more research.
thanks,
phil.

Pivot bearings/ bushings were in good shape, I was happy to find no rust and a small amount of grease. I believe sherco likes to use 50:50 grease and anti seize.

Update, I was able to remove the rear brake assembly and swing arm intact. The brake hose will pull through the gap between the engine and the vertical back bone of the frame. I lubed the hose, frame and engine with grease to ease the process, it’s a tight fit!

Hi,
I’m trying to remove the swing arm to lube up the piviots but the rear brake hose/ master cylinder and reservoir look like they need to be removed 1st? Is this true?
Thank you.

Hey elemental,
Glad to here your trip to dmv went smoothly. Did you have to add a new vin plate number or did you use the original stamped vin from the frame? Did they issue a red or green sticker?
What is the 8th number in your vin?
According to Ca. Dmv if it’s a 3 or C you will receive a red sticker.
thanks.

Looking for your input, if you have any pros and cons please let me know.

Looking at buying a new or slightly used bike, sounds like Sherco made some major changes in the last 2 years. Is this bike a good pick for a club rider? How does it compare with a 2019 gas gas txt 250 pro? Pricing is within 300$.
Thanks

Thanks for your input, found out today from RYP that 17’ and on models can be registered in Ca. Talk to Kevin and he can provide what is needed.

Hgas, are you referring to the gold coating that wears in the fork seal area? If so I was wondering if I cover the forks with those neoprene boots if that would prevent it?
what year did they improve the durability of the gold coating?
thank you,
phil.

Hi, I've heard that you cannot register a Sherco or Scorpa for that matter, in California. This is very discouraging and holding me back from buying one.
Has anyone had success in doing so? What is the loop hole?
Thank you,
-
Hi,
Thinking about purchasing this bike. Has approximately 25 hours and is like new. Please share your knowledge on this model. Any information will help.
Thank you.

Kim, as far as I can tell the fan is identical except for the slightly longer motor. Air flow and noise seem to be also the same.

Well, it ended up being a very easy swap, the radiator and fan squeeze right up through the frame. Just had to figure out how to remove the fancy radiator hose clamps Ossa uses and it came right out. The replacement fan was ~5/16” taller at the motor but that was not an issue.
-
Hi, my fan started sqeeking so I bought a replacement from Adrian @ Lewisport here in Ca. What is the best way to remove the fan?
Fyi the fan is from Jitsie, fits 02-12 gasgas and jotagas 12-16
Thanks,
Phil.

Thank you for the help.
Kurtas, good tip on the brake hose, I noticed mine had previously hit the swing arm...so I angled it up about 1/4” from the silencer.

Need help with bleeding the rear brakes, i’ve been pumping and bleeding at the caliper for 30 minutes now, still no peddle, refilled the reservoir 3 times...no progress. I even tried to raising the front of the bike, pushing fluid, pulling fluid, still no progress.
thanks
Phil.

Thanks for the info Mark.

Hey Mark,
What 2 stroke oil and ratio have you been using in the explorer? What method of mixing do you use? I noticed a standard mixing cup stops at around 70:1, I figured I would just use the cc scale for mixing. 1gallon = 3,785 cc / 120 = 31.5 cc of oil per gallon of gas. (120 to 1 is what the previous owner said he had been running in my Ossa)
thanks
Phil.

If anyone is looking for steering bearings All Balls has a set listed for a GasGas, part# 22-1047 same as Ossa.
kit come with 2 bearings 2 seals and a washer that you don’t need. 30$
-
I took a look at trialsbits and didn’t see any Ossa tr parts? Am I doing something wrong?
-
Thanks for the reply’s, it’s strange that the explorer and TR would have different part numbers if they are the same part...Lotus54, did they make a small change like color? Mine are bare aluminum.
On the oil topic, found in the manual that Ossa calls for 75wt gear oil....still see your point on the crank bearings though... I assume the crank bearing are a roller type bearing?
thanks
phil.

I decided to try out Maxima lite 75wt gear oil, saw were a few guys recommend running 75wt gear oil over atf...... I have a foot peg question, will Explorer pegs fit on a tr? If not, does anyone have a recommendation for aftermarket pegs that will fit properly?
Thanks,
phil
