  1. Morrison's or Tesco's stuff straight from the pump for me. Bike never misses a beat.
  2. I think this is good enough to pin on the forum. There are lost of old posts on here with people trying to replace fans without being raped (financially). Within a few weeks of this post my own fan failed so I bought the fan VMeldrew suggested and replaced it. The next post show how to do it. Well worth it in my opinion. The motor I used I got from here as suggested by VMeldrew.
  3. Pete, I'm not suggesting those who set out shouldn't ride the event. No, we all do that in our club too but you just shouldn't ride the section as you set them out or before the trial itself starts. I can't think of anything much worse that a non rider (past or present) setting out sections.
  4. Agreed. If you lay out a trial you shouldn't ride the section unless you're not competing. I set out a few and am doing one this weekend for BAMCC. I'd do so without a bike. This trial I can do with a 4x4 and for others the club have a quad. Even if you ride a different route to check it out while setting up you usually find your riding at least part of your own route in the process. At the end of a trial however you can ride as much as you want taking the card in. I dont generally agree with riding them until the trial has completely ended not just your part in it. If you change the section while playing at the end and some riders are still competing then you could muck up thier ride.
  5. 2009 & 2010 300's aren't the softies they used to be mate. They do soften off but out of the box the are pepperami. I'm going for a 2011 250 soon. This will be the first non 300's in about ten years. My 2009 300's is great but it took a long time to get used to and the 250 can do anything the 300 can in clubman hands.
  6. Simple one for me to be fair. You had the chance to practise then entered the trial proper. It was a just for fun trial that didn't count (aren't they all)? Anyway I would have expected you to have not handed a card in at all or taken fives in all sections. Surely each section started and finished in the same place and had combined parts with A route splitting off at some point. That means you rode at least part of each section twice per lap. This is a five everytime in my book. I personally wouldn't have handed a card in at all if I'd done this. That way no one would complain and you'd have had all the fun you needed. As for someone putting in a complaint. That up to them. I may have commented to the organisers but lifes to short to complain and it spoils your fun mixing with the same rider at the future events. As an admin on here like Slapshot I don't think this should be deleted. Its a good lesson to others who are new to the sport. Maybe your should both join an ACU club where the rules are clear and clubs are friendly.

    Sprocket Sizes

A one tooth increase at the back wouldn't drive any change at the front. It will make the bike marginally slower but on very noticable. you currently have a ratio of 1:4.55 changing to a 42 rear makes this 1:4.66 but then putting a 10 tooth on the front take you back to 1:4.2 which is probably too quick for normal use if your used to 1:4.55. Basically you can see that every tooth increase at the back decreases the ratio by 0.11 but tooth increases at the front are increase it by 2.66. Obviously this depends of the sizes of both front and back and the figures I've given are with what you've got. Just divide the rear teeth by the front to work out the ratio and remember that what you started with was 1:4.55 i.e for every full rotation of the rear wheel the front spocket has to rotate 4.55 full turns. Bottom line is try the 42 and see what you think. It will be fine in sections but if you use the bike on the road it will slow your top speed down. For trials like the SSDT I like to go down a tooth at the rear but some guys go up one at the front. I tried this once and couldn't ride it in tight sections as it was too fast. Your chain adjuster should cope with a one tooth drop at the rear and still leave adjustment unless the chain is well stretched.
  8. Computer fan thread This is a good thread about fans and computer ones in particular. If your looking for help always try using the search facility.

  10. Before going that far I'd check the thermostat is working. A multimeter or continuity (buzzer) should do it or a bulb some wire and a battery. When the bike is hot the contact should be made. I think it was before 2007 but GG did suggest changing out some thermostats in the past due to problems. The suggested solution was an in-line unit in the top hose.
  11. Slapshot really is Donald Young and he's about 100 miles from Forres. I'm about 60 miles.
  12. Studs would be the only way I think. The ACU wouldn't look to kindly of them mind you.
  13. BigJohn was commentating last year at the Scotland (Gary McDonald) vs Isle of Man (Steve Colley) arena trial so yes he got in free.
  14. Sheep shagging! it's always possible in rural Aberdeenshire.
  15. Its on the sub-title but maybe I should have made it clearer for the hard of reading. Its Sunday the 5th of September.
  16. OK I know this may not be the best place for this but can't work out a better one in the forums. My club the Bon Accord Motorcycle Club in Aberdeenshire are running the Grampian Motorcycle Convention for the second year. Last years event was a huge success and this year should be bigger and better. There is slightly less motorcycle trials on this year but that shouldn't detract from an event that all motor bike lovers shouldn't miss. The day starts at 11:00 and the program look something like this. 11:00 Pursuit Racing Practice round the Grampian Transport Museums short oval 11:20 Vintage and Classic bikes depart on thier run. 11:40 Pursuit racing and classic racer display 12:00 The Clan Cycle Trials Stunt Team display 12:20 Squibb Freestyle MX team 12:40 Pursuit Racing Final 13:05 Police in Drag (?) 13:15 Supermoto Practice 13:30 Moped Mayhem Leg 1 ( a huge and crazy moped marathon race on the supermoto circuit inc. jumps) 13:55 The Clan Cycle Trials Stunt Team display 14:15 Supermoto Race 1 14:35 Squibb Freestyle MX team 14:55 Moped Mayhem Leg 1 15:20 Supermoto Race 2 15:55 Squibb Freestyle MX team backflip finale As well as all this going on on the track there are displays of all sorts of classic and famous bikes, racing bikes of all sorts and special guest appearances for the bike lovers, trade stands, food vendors and kids entertainment too keep the whole family happy. More details at www.grampianmotorcycleconvention.com Alford is about 20 miles west of Aberdeen and easily accessable from both North and South. This event last year was described by TC's very own BigJohn as a not to be missed event.
  17. I'm not sure it's actually proposed for the site of the twin towers. A radio program i was listening to suggested it was a few blocks away. I hate all forms of terrorism and the people who support it, but the terrorists win when we respond like many did after 11/9 (9/11). I would have been far better if everyone just got on with life while rightly mourning the lost. A terrorists aims is to create terror and fear. Killing is also sometimes a goal itself but the most damage done to the USA (excluding those who lost family and friends) was to cripple large parts of the economy and create wide spread fear. I remember seeing the news at the time and people all over the USA was panic buying anything and everything they could find. Airlines nearly went out of business because Americans wouldn't fly internationally. A Florida church, Dove World Outreach Centre, is planning a "burn the Qur'an" day on September 11 and has already outraged Muslims by planting a sign on its front lawn that reads: Islam is the Devil. USA - land of the free, doesn't sound like it to me.
  18. Well said. We really do need to separate religion from these terrorist. Not all Muslims are terrorists just like not all Americans are stupid.
  19. I agree with most of this except in 2009 & 2010 bike. I've ridden the bigger GGs for years now and liked the slower response and gentle power BUT my 2009 300 was an animal out of the box (probably still is). I only changed the throttle tube to a slow one and left the rest but it took my ages to get used to and I still think its too much. After probably 10 years of the 330, 320, 300 models my next one will be a 250 for sure. My mate has one and it lovely.
  20. The one you can do without any tools. It's a knurrled (sp) screw. I'd also check the other stuff above and get the mixture right. The mixture screw is the only to the left of the idle screw and needs a small screwdriver to adjust. Get the bike warm and leaving it ticking over (adjust the idle if it wont) then turn mixture screw either way until you get the best (highest speed) idle. You're now very close. Give the throttle a blip or two and adjust very small amounts again to see if you can improve it still. If we knew which bike it was we'd be able to give you a pretty good starting point for the mixture screw. Usually about 2 turns out from fully screwed in.
  21. It wasn't me I was at home all day 25 miles north east. I don't think it was Donald either as even from home I'd have felt it.
  22. I've got some but they are not the highest resolution. This is what I've been working on SSDT 2011 Let me know what you think. I can easily still change it.
