  1. Well! how's this for a start. I've just received the the first response to my first bulk request. Andy Minns of Border Bikes has donated a brand new Baotian 50cc scooter, registered and road taxed. Thanks again Andy.
  2. Big (real deal) John has accepted my offer to take up the gavel for the auction. His performances during the last two Scott Trial auctions have been great. He's not quite reached cattle auction vocal speeds yet but he's still got time to practice. I fully expect this to be a very successful auction as part of a very special and unique event. Now where are the rest of your donation pledges?
  3. That's my plan but to be fair I've not asked him yet.
  4. I was unsure where best to put this topic. I could move it but I'm still not sure where it would sit best and get most views on here. I'm finalising the donation letter just now and as soon as I and Andy are happy with it I send you a copy. Any donations not matter how small are greatly appreciated. Lets hope you're not the only one to offer from on here.
  5. To get a good feel for the whole event I can recommend a DVD if you want.:-)

Just what I've been looking for for many years now. Cheers. This should get pinned somewhere.

    Engine Died ?

My 2004 and 2006 bikes stopped like you said. Both times I ordered a regulator and CDI from Shirty. Both times it was the cheaper regulator and Shirty takes back the CDI as long as you heven't opened the packet. It appears these regulator units are prone to water tracking down between the body and the encapsulation. I broke in to both my faulty ones and found where water was getting in. The regulator sits upside down and someone told me to turn it around so water didn't sit on the encapsulation for very long. Did this but then sold the bike for 2009 so don't know if it worked. The 2009 is very different so hopefully I'll never have this problem again.
  8. Right, first on all let me say, Andy will no doubt back up this post soon with front page news and far more details outlining what's going on so don't bombard me with questions about the event itself. Let me only say you're in for a big surprise and a very very special event. The reason for this post is that we are going to be running a Scott style charity auction at the Party on the Ben during this years UK rounds of the SPEA FIM Trial World Championship at Nevis Range near Fort William. I have a list of dealers that I'm soon going to be approaching for donations and Jake Miller of L+M Events is going to be speaking to the factories too so hopefully we will have some very special lots up for grabs. For those of you not attending the event (shame on you) there will be an opportunity to bid ahead of time as the list of lots will be published here and bids can be made by email up to the day before the event. What I'm looking for here are any other donations that you the real trials centralers can offer. If you have a company involved in the sport or not and want to be associated just sent me a PM or email and I'll send you the letter the other dealers are getting. You will get quite a bit of free exposure on this site between now and the event at the end of June. If you are an individual who has anything trials related that you think someone may buy, sitting around at home then also get in touch. The proceeds are all (100%) going to a couple of good causes so please help out where you can. The first charity is Macmillan Cancer Support who helped care for my own father during his final weeks. The second charity is something very close to Andy's heart and will be announced shortly.
  9. No, feel free and that goes for anyone else too.
  10. Have a look at this. Its used in our club but as others say rules do change depending on where your riding. This though is pretty good for the basics as used in Scotland. A_guide_to_riding_and_marking_trials_1_.pdf
  11. After the success of the BAMCC run combined national trial last year at Craiglash the club are please to be again running the event on the same ground again this year. Reg and entries are now available Reg and Entry

    2010 Mudguard

Like you its been years since I broke a rear guard until I bought my 2009. Its the same as the 2010. I don't want to get on my high horse again so suffice to say GG need to rething the design and materials. The design where it widens now to form extra mud protection was a good idea but I think the opposing curves jsut add to the lack of flex and cause breakages. The material doesn't feel the same either so it's that too. About time someone made an aftermarket one like the pre-2009 but in white. I'd happily go back to using the older design so it didn't break. They do fit you know they just don't look as good in the wrong colour.
  13. Cheers, brought a wee smile to my face all the way through. So many great memories came flooding back.
  14. I agree exept I added a slow throttle on my 09. What you should be aware of is that brand new the 300 is a bit of an animal but they do soften off with time. I'm on my fourth new 300 and found the 09 the worst straight out of the box so changed only the throttle. I then got used to it and it softened off like the others.
  15. I'd be interested in some if they are flexible. I spoke to Andy of GGUK at the SSDT last year and they were struggling getting stock and concidering making some themselves. If you get a good guard that flexes like the older ones maybe you can find a market through GGUK too. I await seeing the results of your efforts.
  16. From my experiance of watching at the Scott you'll need more than one observer at each section but it will depend on the entry size. At time more than one rider is in the section at the same time (sometime 5 or 6 at a time) and one observer couldn't handle that.
  17. I got one of these and its great. 100% waterproof has a good tail and looks cool. Jacket
  18. This should be passed to as many people as possible. When VAT was temporarily reduced to 15%, the Chancellor added 2% duty to fuel to offset the reduction in tax collected from motorists. Now that VAT has been increased to 17.5% again this hidden tax has not been removed - hence recent rises in your fuel costs. Sign the petition at the link below to have this stealth tax removed! 19. Fighting talk? Have you see the size of the guy? He's my best buddie, I think it must have been some of his neighbours I saw on telly.
  20. 1" my ar5e. We had three feet in Aberdeenshire and that's without any drifting. I still got to work every day as did most Scots. You soft southern folks are just not used to snow any longer. I saw TV pictures where you could still the lines on the roads in the south and the Police and media were saying don't drive unless its life or death.
  21. Falklands veteran Simon Weston won a million on the pools last week. Unfortunately he
  22. I wouldn't worry about tig welding a patch on. I've done a couple now with a nicely made thin aluminum patch pop riveted on. If it rubs through just drill out the rivets and stick on another on. Take time forming a nice patch and use nice small rivets it doesn't look bad at all. Why GG haven't fixed this problem yet I'll never know. Unlike some after sales questions on other parts I can't imagine they sell many replacements rear boxes so there is nothing in it for them. A slightly different box form or properly spaced in the first place would be easy.
  23. I can send a copy to Spain easily and quickly or speak to your and my friend Carlos. He has a copy and you can copy it. Its not protected in any way. If you want a copy just PM me your address.
  24. Gasgas guard up to 2009 were made of a very flexible plastic that even cold could bend back on itself without breaking (most of the time). The one they have now 2009 on is a much more brittle plastic. I'm on my third one now where I rode about 5 years since I broke a pre 2009 one. Beta seem to have gone the other way. They used to brake if you farted on them but now fold around just fine. It could be that this was planned by GG to sell more or it could be that the new material is cheaper. Either way we loose out.
  25. Yes I'm still out at sea but should be back later this week. I've had better birthdays. It started with 40ft very confused seas but calmed down during the day. I don't travel all that well on a boat but wasn't sick just feeling like it all day.
