  1. OK Here it its. As I said pictures just don't do it any justice. Blind Ghyll
  2. I too would love to see someone trying to get a enduro bike out of Blind Ghyll. I know its one of the reasons I'd never like to try the Scott. I'm just not sure I'd have the balls to go in the bottom knowing what its like getting out hte top. I'll find the clip Perce is speaking about and put up a link when I get home. Your picture doesn't do it justice but pictures and even video never do. It one of my great regrets in editing my videos that you can never get a true perspective of the size and steepness of some of the steps and climbs. From memory Blind Ghyll is a bit of a trek to get to but if your up for it you couldn't find a better place to watch the Scott.

    280 Vs 300

Ah that why I'm not a top rider then! I ride the 300 (2009) without the flywheel spacer and although I did find it a bit firey to begin with it softened of over 6 months and is now just great. I've had both 280 and 300 but have stuck with the 300 for 5 years now. If I bought a 2010 bike it would be a 250 though so go figure that one out. Maybe you shouldn't discount the 250 in your search.
  4. Laugh? I nearly ****ed myself. I was just settling in to follow this one to the end. Your timing couldn't have been better.
  5. Have you never been before John? This is an event not to miss even without a love of old bikes like you have. Speak to Ken I'm sure a place would be found for one of your treasures.
  6. The Bon Accord Motorcycle Club are running the annual Grampian Motorcycle Convention on the 6th of September in the Grampian Motor Museum in Alford, Aberdeenshire. This year
  7. Just replace the cap. I broke one a couple of years ago and it wasn't expensive to replace. In fact the price was a surprise.
  8. Have a look at what its all about HERE
  9. As expected the level of orders has now decreased to the point that its not worth while paying ebay to list the DVD. If anyone is still looking for a copy just PM or email me and we'll sort something out to get you a copy. Thanks for all the feedback here and on ebay. We'll take the comments onboard and make changes next year to try and improve it further. Hopefully the helmet cam will return again if it stops raining for long enough which it didn't this year.
  10. OK then here goes. What separates us from the terrorist? Compassion. I don't want to get in to the argument about him possibly not being guilty in the first place as he was convicted and found guilty but he only has a few months to live and is no longer a risk to society. I think it was a very brave thing for the government to do to stand up against very strong pressure and follow the law of the land. Remember ALL prisoners in Scotland are entitled to compassionate release in their last days and only those that are still considered an immediate threat have ever been refused. Why should the law differ for this guy over all the other murderers, child molesters and rapists? We are a compassionate people with mainly sensible laws and should be proud to display our conviction to the laws or our land to world. I'd have hated to be Kenny MacAskill this last couple of weeks try to choose from the options available but in the end he should hold his head high . He followed the normal legal process in Scotland and wasn't put off.
  11. Topic closed. This won't go anywhere of interest to anyone but the two of you. Take it off line.
  12. Try a slow throttle first. I did this on my 09 300 rather than the weight and it transformed the bottom end response without loosing anything elsewhere.
  13. I think this post has been very interesting in the whole and I wouldn't want to see it closed either but the name calling and baiting should be cut back. Interestingly I'd mark Dixie on a three so far a few others on one or two but no one has stopped yet so even in this very tough section no fives. Must be a well laid out post.
  14. I smashed my one in September 2005 and it didn't knit back until late December. It was a very bad break (in lots of bits) and didn't show any signs of healing until an xray in December. Its now fine but still well out of line. They were speaking about an operation after December if there was no sign on recovery but it came in the end. The other option they discussed was leaving it broken as the op was thought to be a very last resort with complications and long term hip and shoulder problems. I hope you start to heal soon its not good.
  15. A few years ago we had a double sided comic style graphic observers sheet made up. It was based on something I picked up years earlier on-line. With one of these and a few minutes at your section before the rider arrived you knew the rules very well and could even refer the the riders to it if you needed back up. I can't attached a pdf here but if your interested its available in word and pdf format at the bottom of the 'club info' page at www.bamcc.co.uk This could be changed to show any set of rule and observers find it very useful.
  16. This doesn't say much about your commitment to the sport. JC's challenged you. The only way now to prove your not soft like Ishy says is answer the man's questions.

    2010 Ssdt

Unless that is you're riding the trial. Then no car required.
  18. Jees Jamie, I think you're due quite a bit of change from your two cents. Put yourself in the observers and course markers position. Can you just imagine the arguements that you were or were not through the next set of cards or over under the time by a millisecond.
  19. God the girls must be flocking after you now Donald. Doesn't hide the grey as much as highlight it if that was the effect you were after.

    09 Problems

I've had many gassers and never had a problem with the kick start. Bike usually starts first kick. I ride 300's and they do take a big kick too. I don't know of anyone else in the club who has either had a problem either. Now a mate with a Beta has had problems so there you go. I don't think it should be a deciding factor on which bike you go for. Kick starters can and will break. BTW I've been in the housing on a few gassers and even if it did happen there's not much that couldn't be sorted very easily.
  21. I'd be interested to know the number of entries to the SSDT in the last few years when stopping was allowed vs the first few years of no stop. This is one of few trials that attracts riders of all abilities so could be used as a good yard stick. The SSDT is like all Scottish trials stop = 5. I personnally have never seen a stop = 1 trial. It's always been stopping allowed or stop = 5 in my time in trials in Scotland.
  22. When I rode a couple to trials in South Africa and few years back I was told of fatality or double fatality between sections when two rider hit head on. I remember being told they weren't even going very fast. Can one of the riders from Cape Town tell the whole story please.
