  1. Seal the gasket area with Silicone compound and the same with the area round the cable entry. Make sure its all very clean first. This should keep water out. Then drill a 5 or 6mm hole in the bottom of the cover to let anything that gets in out again. I know this sound mad but its a GG UK recommendation for the SSDT and I've had it on my last two bikes. Never had a problem with water in there or if I did it all ran out again.
  2. I always remove the GG guard clips and replace them with small ty-wraps for the very same reason. I've broken the ty-wraps a few time but never the guard until I started on the 09 bike. This is not a fitting issue as I'm not new to gasser pros it just too stiff a design. It may not just be materials it could be the actual design which has changed and put a few more compound curves on the guard in the way of extra wide mud protection. These obviously dont bend too well. Either way I think its a backwards step for us and will make a lot of money for Gas Gas in aftermarket guard sales. I'll have a look at the Raga guard and see what the differences are. Cheers
  3. No this is the non-holomogated trials version but is not far off as stiff and brittle as the road ones IMHO. Its a shame if GG are going back to where Beta have remained for years making money off us riders by poor material selection. Good flexible guards have been available for a long time and GG have used them but by doing so they probably take a lot of business away from aftermarket sales. I think I'll have to fit a pre 2009 version in another colour. Maybe red will look OK with some white stickering.
  4. Is anyone else out there finding the rear muguard on the 2009 bikes breaking fairly easily? Up to 2006 (my last bike) the rear guards were great with a lot of flex. The 2009 seems much stiffer and I've now broken two of them having broken only 1 in the last 6 years on earlier pro's. I'm thinking of fitting an older one but I can't remember is there was a white Pro before the 2009 300. So the second part of my question is; was a white (based) pro available before the 2009?   6. Quiter simple really. You are only asked to pick your number twice but the number groups change each time so the system can easily work out which number you've picked. If you record all the numbers in your first choice colour group you will see none of them appear along side your number in the second choice.

  8. Carrier bags work just fine. Your feet sweat on a hot day but good pair of socks underneath absorb that. I've only tried this a couple of time, honest. Seal Skinz are great but expensive and dont last too long if you get grit and sand in your boots. I used to use Alpinestars but have had gaerne's for years now and wouldn't even bother trying anything else.

Does my memory not serve me correctly that the rule book used to state a straight line between two flags or the continuation of the natural radius of a corner between corner markers if you know what I mean. I've advised many club members of the corner rule as this is where people tend to take the ****. An example is a corner marked tight before a step. If you tried to mark the corner to stop it you'd have to use tape or an awful lot of markers to break the corner in to many straight lines but with only a few markers the straight line between two cuts across the corner making it far too tight a triangle. Can BJ or JC confirm I'm not going mad and there is an rule for corner marking to?
  11. If you don't have the money for the 09 Raga just buy the standard bike. I've got a 09 300 and just love it. This is my fourth 300 GG and it is just a different bike completely. It feels light and the motor is just unbeleavable. I haven't fitter a fly wheel weight but it may be a good idea if you find the motor too much. I did fit a slow throttle and its helped me feel more comfortable with the power delivery. Big steps with no run up at all are just a quick twist away and it tracks and grips so well. I'd love a go on a Raga but think it would be too much for most riders and you'd end up taming it with weights, timing and jet changes so why pay the extra?
  12. Fitting a wee valve between the auxiliary and main tanks would stop this. Only open it and drain to the main tank if and when you need it. That way and with luck you would hardly if ever have to refill the auxiliary one.
  13. Oh no it doesn't. I imported a bike a few years back and didn't pay UK VAT on it at all. I registered it and was never asked in person or on any form if VAT was paid. My understanding was that I paid VAT in spain which is within the EU so there is no VAT to pay just to cross EU borders. If fact its more than my understanding its law.

    Bruce I have a brand new thermo and hoses to allow you to change to inline rather than on tank sensing/switching. If you want it drop me a PM. There is no need to remove the rad one just move the wires to the the new one.

  20. To try and be a little more constructive than some I'd say go for it but buy a good strong chain and lock it to something. Getting the bike on the road is easy and depending on age maybe won't need an MOT. If you have to MOT it get a good bike MOTer to do it on a day time MOT. This means you don't need lights of any sort. You also dont need a brake light or indicators as long as you know your hand signals (for when a cop car is following you). You don't need a speedo for the MOT but you need one to ride on the road. A push bike on will do and there are wireless ones in halfords that cost a few quid and work off a pickup you stick to the fork leg and a spoke. Buy Michelin tyres X11 as these are the only tyre I know that has a E stamp and is therefore road legal in the UK. You will need a better number plate than a stick on one on the rear guard but a YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE number board is usually OK though not legal. A legal number plate is a fixed size and is way to big and heavy for a trials bike. I took my bike with number plate to the local cop shop and pointed out the problem also drawing to thier attention that Police even use these number plates on events like the Scottish Six Day Trial. They were happy and as long as you have the PCs name if you need it you should be OK. The bike will be fine on the road but try and avoid long periods of steady throttle especially full throttle. If you do long runs pull up the choke and let it run it a little richer for a while. Again events like the SSDT see trials bikes (yes 125s as well just ask Ishy) run for long period at high speeds on the road with little problem. Trials bikes can get hot and blow a little water out over time so regulary check the water level say once a week or even every few days if you're out a lot. I don't do it a lot but its great fun and attracts plenty of attention riding in town.

  22. I've been back for about a month now. I'd had enough of eating dog for a lifetime. Luckily the job is now finished and the rig is on its way to the UK stopping in Cape Town on the way. I was kind of looking forward to getting a couple of days back there but finished my work before it left Korea. If you are serious about a new 2009 GG I'd stick with the 300. Its very different to the one you have but feels and tracks wonderfully. The grip and power has to be experianced to beleave.
  23. Tim Its not the Raga just a plain 2009 300. Having said that I'd hate to think what the Raga is like. This thing is in a different league to anything I've ever ridden before and I've had four 300's in the past as you know. I lent it to a few different guys at the weekend for a try and everyone loved it but said it was the most powerful trials bike they have ever ridden which to some was a bad thing. I got home on Sunday after an OK trial (still getting used to the bike) and rode my 2006 300 round the garden. You really need to try both side by side to see the true difference. My beloved 2006 is a piece of **** in comparison and its a good one. 2009 Gassers are sex on wheels to look at too. Great photo's Bill. It was worth lofting the front for the camera on that drop in even if it did almost cost me a five.

    Got my new one last night. 300 but not the Raga (cock). Looks great but will have to spend some time going over everything tonight. If I find anything that everyone else should know I'll post again.
  25. Has anyone any idea of the present value of my 2006 300 pro. Its is very good nick and only lightly used. I have a buyer but no idea of the true value. Cheers John
