  1. OK I've booked a room. I will be in the Fort for only one night. I'm coming up on Tuesday and staying through for Wednesday. Where is everyone going to be on Tuesday night?
  2. I can't manage too much time off work so I'll probably come up on Tuesday and stay for Wednesday. My number is 07740 157461 so we can meet up for a pint or two.
  3. Thanks Dave I'lll try there. Andy, You have my email address please supply the mobile number and I'll get you a drink.

    04 Rev 3

Two of my mates just bought new 04 Rev 3's. One is fine but the other appears not to have any rebound damping. It's therefore very springy and difficult to ride. I don't know much about the Beta forks so any help would be great. Is one leg bump and one rebound like my gasser or something completely different? Before anyone asks I haven't checked the fluid levels yet.
  5. Email to andy @ trialscentral.com
  6. Why answer a question once when you can do it twice?
  7. That's boofont alright but what about the bike?
  8. Boofont I didn't read this post until Friday night and I finished laying out this morning. Thanks for the offer anyway. I won't be going back up tomorrow but I'll see you on Sunday.
  9. I'm sending my one in tonight. Boofont, Are you still thinging about a van and an early arrival on Saturday for some practice?
  10. Boofont Yes I'll be riding. I'm going up to set the trial out Thursday or Friday and maybe even Saturday to finish it off and lay the route markers. If it's Saturday are you on to come and help?
  11. Boofont Where are you staying? I've been in Angola for far to long and probably missed my chance of finding somewhere to stay.
  12. I can get up the waterfall no problem, It the jumping from the forward launch step I'm lost confidence in. Give it time and I'll get it back. Sorry to miss you boys this time. I also missed the Pollock but should be back on the scene again soon.
  13. Sorry about the slow response with the results. I usually have them out here in a day or so but have been out of the country for 7 weeks and missed the whole thing. Boofont, Your right I did smash a finger doing the jump up that waterfall. I'd cleaned it before but now I've lost confidence and can't even give it a proper go.
  14. Bikespace It's a few years since I managed to make it over to this trial but it has to be one of the best one day trials I've ever done. Not to be missed. That said I'm going to miss it again this year due to overseas work commitments. Andy Wish you'de told me about the blue unmarked's before last easter. I over took one on the A74 before it lit up like a christmas tree and pulled me over. Another 3 points!
  15. Bikespace I can't speak for other clubs but we identify the different route riders with different coloured punch cards. I makes it easy for observers. If say a rider rides the easy route and hands the observer a yellow punch card (which indentifies the hard route) they will rightly be given a 5 for riding the wrong route through that section.
  16. I think my post has been taken out of context a little. It's not the displaying of numbers that I'm questioning it the 10 mark penalty. Big John and I have discussed this at length off-line and I see where the SACU are coming from. It just looks like a last resort approach to a problem that could be better handled in another way. As a trials convenor and Clerk of the Course I see it creating all sorts of arguments with in the riders.
  17. Andy I to am shocked that Aberdeen Journals published this or any other motor bike story. I to have struggled in the past with them and have now given up.
  18. Social Climber The air you pull in on the intake stroke is cold in fact the velocity it comes in at cools it well below the atmospheric temperature. The air going out the exhaust is very hot as it's just supported a flaming fuel vapour. Air expands very dramacitally when it's heated meaning that you are expelling a vastly greater volume through the exhaust than you are taking in through the carb. I've never used a spart arrestor on a bike so can't comment on the construction. A car one is specially designed to cool the air by accelerating the hot air through a series of relativly thin openings. The increase in velocity again cools the air reducing the likelyhood of a spark surviving. This is the same philosophy as used for possibly spark or flame producing electrical equipment used in flamable gas environments. The enclosure has a very thin gap between the body and the lid. As a flame generated inside the enclosure rushes throught the gap it cools and won't light the gas on the outside. Becuase the enclusure is not sealed there is also never a buildup of pressure inside that could cause it to explode. I'll get off my high horse now.
  19. I think it should be mandatory for all riders to have their TC name on front of the bike. I don't need it I'll be the one under my bike in the sections.
  20. Wonderboy I'm sure I speak for everyone here. We'd love to see you at the trial you've provided so much entertainment over the last few months. Maybe someone else from your area is going down who could take you.
  21. Tim Re-train now as an orthopaedic surgeon or physiotherapist and you
  22. I got this from the SACU yesterday. What do you think? DISPLAY OF RIDING NUMBERS TO ASSIST OFFICIALS TO IDENTIFY RIDERS DURING AN EVENT IT WAS REQUESTED LAST YEAR THAT MACHINES HAVE THE RIDER LICENCE NUMBER CLEARLY DISPLAYED ON THE FRONT OF THE BIKE. TO SPEED UP THE PROCEDURE THE TRIALS COMMITTEE HAVE DECIDED CLUBS ARE TO PENALISE THOSE RIDERS WHO FAIL TO DO THIS WITH A 10 MARK ADDITION TO THEIR SCORE. IT MAY ALSO HELP RIDRS JUMPING ON THE WRONG BIKE! NUMBERS TO BE BLACK ON A WHITE BACKGROUND MINIMUM SIZE 2 INCHES USING THE LAST THREE DIGITS ONLY. OF COURSE IF CLUBS SUPPLY A RIDING NUMBER THAT WILL SUPERCEDE THE LICENCE NUMBER. JOHN DAVIES (TRIALS COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN)
  23. You should never restrict the air flow out of your exhaust, especially on a two stroke. The sieve woud be fine for low volume air flow like intake but would greatly reduce the air flow of an exhaust. I'd advise you not to even try it.
  24. Good point Tim I could get two prizes. I'm on my way down again shortly but only passing through Joberg on my way to Luanda again.
  25. Prizes!!! I've got my name on the highest score one for sure.
