  1. Maybe I've been wrong all my life but I thought it was a simple ratio. If you have 10 on the front and 42 on the rear the ratio is 1:4.2 so going down one tooth on the front would be equal to 4.2 up on the back.
  2. That's the rough edits for the whole week on line now. Links are in the 1st post of this topic. Look out for the full DVD release in the usual high quality soon.
  3. Not just Gorton Ishy, a lot of long sections this week.
  4. Thursday added to first post. Friday coming soon.

  7. Yes there will be a DVD. we followed the classics for the last bit of Mamore track then down the road to Fort Bill. The total distance of the run is about 12 miles I think with most on the track.

    Re packing...

That's probably because you've burned all yours up with your little fire.

    Shopping?

There are a number of good retail dealers set up in the parc ferme area plus the main distributors or manufactures are also there. You should be able to get anything you need and most if not all will accept credit cards. There's plenty of places to get a good single malt to or you could by a bottle of the special SSDT whisky if you want something a bit different.

    Re packing...

Does it sound like it's gone should be the first question. I don't think there's any conflicting opinions yet. If you do need to repack, it needs cutting open and rewelding. probably still cheaper than a new one. If it's still running ok and not bothering you it should be ok. The power delivery may change quite a bit too if its burned out. That may give you another indication for you.

    Re packing...

If it was really hot which it sounds like it was I'd expect the packing to be burned out by now and ideally would require re-doing. You should hear a noticable difference in exhaust sound if the packing's all but burned away. My gasser did the same thing last year on the first road run on Monday at the SSDT. I wasn't going fast and had only covered a couple of miles when I noticed the smoke. I returned to base (I wasn't competing)and it eventually stopped but I think that was when the oil soaked packing had burned away. It needed repacking afterwards but didn't stop me using in for the week until I got back home. I don't do a lot of big runs on my bike so this was probably the first time in ages that it had a good run. Learn from it like I did and give the bike a clearing out regularly.
  12. Just bought a new 250 gas gas. Contacted Bennett's who insured my 300 and renewed it 3 days ago. They won't insure the new bike even though I've a spotless record and the bike less powerful. They say that their underwriters just won't cover it. Go Aviva to accept it no problem, go figure. Just thought I'd warn everyone with Bennett's that they appear to be changing their thinking on trials bikes.
  13. A mate of mine recently admitted to being addicted to brake fluid. When I quizzed him on it he reckoned he could stop any time.... I went to the cemetery yesterday to lay some flowers on a grave. As I was standing there I noticed 4 grave diggers walking about with a coffin. 3 hours later and they're still walking about with it. I thought to myself, they've lost the plot!! I was at a cash point yesterday when a little old lady asked if I could check her balance, so I pushed her over. A new Middle East crisis erupted last night as Dubai Television was refused permission to broadcast 'The Flintstones'. A spokesman for the channel said,
  14. You don't know what I want for it.
  15. Donald, I've got a TLR in bits if you want it.

    Spoke nipples

It's not a lot or trouble really if you keep the spokes and change one nipple at a time working round the wheel. I tow to a lot of trials and up my way they put a lot of salt on the roads in winter. I've tried the WD40 route in the past and its better than nothing but the OEM nipples just don't survive long in a nice condition. The GG spokes are metric and no one seems to stock metric spokes in the UK. I'd be interested in the Beta ones if the would fit and had a better plating on them. i think I can get some metric ones if I could only work out he size.
  17. Thank you very much kind sir.

    Spoke nipples

Central Wheel Components need me to send a spoke and nipple down to see if they can match it and GGUK can't give me the size either. They do stainless spokes but not nipples. The nipples are nickel plated brass and are different from the original spokes. They only fit their stainless spokes so that's a bit wheel rebuild. All I want to do is change the nipple. Anyone know the size I'm needing to ask for? If I can get this CWC or someone may have the nipple seperately.
  19. Does anyone know the bearing number for the new style rear wheel on a 2011 pro?

    Spoke nipples

Just got a new 2011 gasser want to replace the front wheel spoke nipples with stainless ones before they rust. Does anyone know where I can get nipples from? I've meant to do this on my past bikes but always left it too late. Not this time, hopfully.
  21. The problemm with these small cameras is the same as a stills cameras. The small lens just doesn't do any film justice. For helmet work I'd also look for a camera that does 60 fps (Go-pro and Contour do this) 30 fps can be a bit jumpy when the going gets fast. Chewy, As I've said before I like Corel Video Studio but for HD you really need to run it in proxy mode. Its available for free download and 30 days totally unrestricted use for you to try. Youtube has some good step by steps on proxy mode.
  22. I use a Contour 1080p HD usually in 720p 60f/s mode. The 60 frames per second mode is far better for fast moving pictures and most people are using the net for publishing so 720p is more than enough. I've had no problem setting it up for various laptops so I don't understand the above setup problems. For editing I'd recommend Corel video studio which can be downloaded for nothing on a 30 day unrestricted trial. if you don't like it try something else. One important issue is running the video editor inProxy mode. This means you edit with lower res ( smaller) files making it quick and easy. Instructions on proxy mode are available online including walk throughs on YouTube. The go-pro is probably a marginally better camera but it sticks out and could be damaged easily and looks like a road side Gatso speed camera. I'm not usually bother about looks but there has to be a limit.
  23. This is not something that's just started. Gary's been streets ahead few many years.
