  1. I have found a 2008 Beta 250 Brand new at a good deal. What would I be giving up by going with this instead of a 2009 EVO? The price on the 2008 model is about 15% less money wise than the 2009 model. Thanks!
  2. Saw an EVO for the first time today. They look WAY better in reality. Very sleek and the fairing which look odd to me in photos looked fine up close. They could have potentially put the CDI box in front of the fairing and extend the fairing. Time will tell if this will be an issue. The one I saw was a 125 and I had a chance to ride it. Other than having half the power of my 250 it rode great. The front end was a lot easier to move around than the Rev-3. The back end didn't stay as planted as my Rev-3 but that might be a 125 vs. 250 issue more than a Rev-3 vs. EVO issue. Suspension felt good. It felt soft but never felt as if it bottomed out or too soft while riding. The bike felt VERY light, maneuverable and flickable. It rode great!
  3. Looks like a mid '80s Fantic..... Looks very wide and bulky. The edges on the frame look like they might cut you if you fell on them in a crash?
  4. BOOOIIINNGG!!!!!! That's just beautiful!!!! Hey, is pinkbike your site?
  5. That was pretty much how I summed it up. Built for function first and a few plastic pieces after the fact to hide the utilitarianess of it. The shrouds at the "tank" look awkward in the pictures like it might look better without them or with something shaped differently. Maybe longer shrouds that are rounded in the front towards the head tube.
  6. I think I read somewhere here that Dougie hadn't even seen the EVO until its official introduction. Is this true? I would think his input would be priceless!
  7. I think that's smart. The fact you found this out after you put your deposit down would worry me.
  8. Have you had the bike or is this the first time you have ridden it?
  9. http://www.trialsport.com.au/index.htm 2006 manual but should work.
  10. I'm 6' tall too. I have the stock bars but I ended up moving them towards me once I put the pegs on and farther back than I did on my Gas Gas. The full-back pegs are 3/4" farther back than normal if I remember correctly. It lightens the front end of the Beta just enough and makes the bike feel less like a freight train. It also helped me from feeling like I was too far over the front end on steep drop off or down hill sections. I've never had risers before. What do they do to the ride characteristics of the bike?
  11. Do you offer a heavier spring for a 2006 Rev-3? I'd like to hear about the clutch mod. Mine is a bit stiff and heavy but I can live with it. Biff, I didn't really know if I would like my Rev-3 until I put a pair of the RYP "Full-Back" pegs on it. I hated them on my GasGas because it made the front end too light. On the Beta, it makes the front end just right for me. I've heard a few people talk about how smooth the EVO 290 engine is. I chose a 250 Rev-3 because it felt more controllable to me. The 270 felt like it had the hit of a motocrosser. The 250 feels very electric with a slow throttle.
  12. Does it still feel solid, stable, turn well? I heard the power on the 290 was smoother than the 270s?
  13. I was wondering how the Beta EVO is treating the people who have them so far? How are they better or worse than your last bike and what kind did you have previously? Thanks!
  14. Mine was the voltage regulator. $55 USD
  15. Is the reason for no USA round the lack of a promoter, lack of audience turn out or do the riders hate the trip and the course layouts?
  16. I noticed when I took the side cover off the right side of my engine on my '06 Rev-3 that there was really nothing to prevent water entry than the cover. I put a small bead of grease around perimeter and reinstalled. Was that a bad idea?
  17. Mine ended up being the voltage regulator. $55 After I got everything unhooked I could tell there was lots of dirt that could have potentially blocked conductivity of electricity. Also, the voltage regulator came off pretty easily which could result in a bad ground.
  18. I'm having the same problem on an '06 model. If no voltage at the wires, then what and how much money....
  19. Prbably wise if you feel like you'll stick with it.
  20. Alan, I live about an hour from Devil's Ridge. I assume it was a vintage event. How many people showed up? I think the prez. of our club helped set this one up.....
  21. I bought a trials bike after 8 years of mt. biking. I rode dirt bikes and trials bikes in the 70s and 80s. The mt. bike skills/slow speed skills really cross over. The hardest thing for me was and still is, is to get my weight back and to the outside of the bike in certain situations. It's a blast and a lot more physical and exhausting than I expected. Have fun!!!
