    M92 Questions

Swooshdave; that is simple. As you know in Bultaco they build their parts to fit in as much models as they could. That philosophy included of course the road, enduro, cross and trials bikes. It is very probable the knurling of those bars was done to fit Matador yokes or any other bike, but after fixed in a model 92. I have a model 91 with the same particularity.
  2. Now the chassis is ready; fork angle slightly closed, modified position of the footrests and the colour I choosed. Not the original, but think bike will look nice when finished. The rest of the bike still in little pieces. Waiting for some spares fro the engine.
  3. Hi from Madrid airport: Busy week for me travelling for trials to Scotland and now for business. Yes B40RT it is a pleasure to race the Highland Classic and come all the way up to Inververness for it, will do it every year as it is one of my favourites trials in the calendar. I am very shure in a few years there will be a waiting list to enter this event. The motoclub designed a very nice and competitive trial, perfect sections for pre-65 and for old twinshocks, and also quite ok to do it with one of the later ones. 72 sections and a very nice route in the Scottish Highlands, real sport. Thanks to the motoclub for this trial, Moffat family for their hospitality ("feet up Dave" for his room!!!!!). Chips you are number one. Nice pics there!!!!!
  4. Nice pics there Camel. Thank you!!!
  5. I was thinking about what to pack, but obviusly not my swimming suit.... http://www.zoover.co.uk/scotland/scotland/aviemore/weather
  6. Hi Tim: In fact I read about your bike in the post some days ago, I think the result is brilliant, I have a little James (Captain 197 cc. model I think) converted into trials which I bought in the UK some 8 years ago and with which I raced the Pre-65 Scottish 2008. But that 1953 one you have got is a beauty. I found it tough for my weight of 95 kilos (sorry but I like my food......) and the little power of that engine to make the Pre-65 with it, so with a similar bike but rigid it must be heroic to do so. Thanks for the links, Greeves Motorcycles I already knew it, but the Kivas one has nice pics about the bikes. It looks this Greeves I now own has had some modifications in the time, so I will restore it using the most parts of it I can use, including the petrol tank as I found it nice. Will add some bigger footrests, maybe modify the position of them, and work a little in closing the angle of the forks. It has 136 cm. between axels and will try to reduce it in a couple of cm.
  7. Hi sparks2; thanks for your help. So it looks this bike is a funny mixture. I bought it with the idea of building a James with a frame I have got using it
  8. Hi bultaco49: About a rigid bike, I have never tried one of them, so I really don
  9. Thanks to Jim Evans and John Robertson we found this Greeves TFS Scottish for a very reasonable price. It will be my next project for this summer. Will upload some pics with the progress and when finished. Any advice is wellcome. My idea is to paint frame and tank in a metallic blue (not the original) and make the seat in dark grey.
  10. They did not had a raised bead aroud the outside. They make some replicas here in Spain, but the price is robbery. There are some very similar in the UK for a reasonable price. Just check the length.
  11. Hi John. Thanks for your words. There is now a big noise in the Spanish classic trials about you two. I still can
  12. Note model 10 mudguards where cut square and not round as in all the later Bultaco models. Enjoy the work!!!!
  13. Hi fish06: This is your bike http://www.bultacosc.com/modelos_detalle.php?h=3&id=20
  14. Hi gregrsv: The Highland Classic is a great trial and Pre-65 route is perfect for those bikes. We made a report of the 2008 edition in www.todotrial.com go to "Clasico" then in the left to "Zona 2 - Competicion" and at last to "Highland Classic 2 Days trial" there are some pics there and a description of the 16 sections (maybe with the automatic translator English sounds funny....). I will be there, hope to meet you.
  15. I need a fuel tank for my 250 James. Where can I buy one???
  16. I agree with you Slapshot. We had the results in the Saturday night awards presentation. There where there for anybody that wanted them. Sunday back to Spain; Monday back to the office scan and upload it. Both Commettees Pre-65 and SSDT are very busy this days. Work for the Pre-65 Commettee does not end when the last rider finish the last section, I also belive it must be the busiest week also for TC because of the huge ammount of information generated both by Pre-65 and SSDT, so it is not so terrible to upload Pre-65 results some days later. Understandable.
  17. Nice videos Lee, hope can go to Exmoor next year.
  18. Oh yes TTS has that smell, as in the old times. A little bit behind the ear is enough
  19. Feetupfun, with the time you can become a "wife negociating" expert. I can asure you anything that is "boaring romantic" works, you will increase the number, quality and days of trials you normally do per year. Spalshot, I think Castrol TTS has a special "flavour" that makes me feel; let
  20. Hi Gizzas: I understand you talk about the SSDT not the Pre-65 when talking about that incident with a Spanish "follower" last year. We know about the problem in the past years, specially 2007, and the Pre-65 Commettee has informed us and asked for our cooperation for the 2008 and 2009 editions. I can assure you that the 15 Spanish pilots with an entry this 2009 are perfectly informed about this problem, and the 2 vans going to Kinlochleven from Spain for the Pre-65 (Sotobike Motoclub and Motocat Club vans) will NOT carry any bike for a follower. That also happened in the 2008 edition. There where a couple of press bikes (one of them a 4RT) following the event, but FULLY AUTHORISED, insurred, licenced and SIGNED IN, to make Todotrial report ( http://www.todotrial.com/ttclasico/indexttclasico-total.htm THEN GO TO "Zona 2 - Competicion" and then to "Scottish 2 Days Pre-65") and reports for a couple of Spanish magazines. This 2 AUTHORISED"pilots had the commitment to paying special attention in the Pre-65 route to report of any Spanish unauthorised rider following with a bike. I can assure you last 2008 there where no Spanish followers with bikes in the Pre-65 route, and there will not be in the 2009, and if they are, we the 15 Spanish pilots will be the first to reproach their attitude and report about them. The SSDT is a different story.....
  21. That is a nice and original restoration No Jive. It is very nice to see original bikes racing classic trials. Congratulations. Wifes being impressed about their own husbands restoring bikes is just the first step of a long staircase. With the time: "wifes hate bikes". This is the only truth. At last it will cost you a lot of money in romantic dinners, operas, romantic comedy movies, visits to your in-law family and all this sort of boaring things that wifes enjoy to do if you want them to live a live in peace with your classic bikes (our real and true loves). Mine looked dissapointed when I told her she should use Castrol TTS better than the perfume she normally uses.
  22. With the modern oils you can use even less, 1,5% or 50 : 0,75 is better.
  23. I know who is NOT winning Slapshot. Me - number 10. Maybe second with a little luck....??? From Spain keep an eye in Jose Buixo -N
  24. Hi Ross: As you know; the more trials bikes you want to keep ready for competition, the bigger headaches you normally get. I have actually 9 bikes ready for competition (quite a big headache), all of them with electronic ignitions except this very nice Montesa Cota 247 Mk-3 (the one with the big tank and grey frame, left brake and right gear lever). I love this Pre-72 bike, it is 100% original and never restored, and works soooo good. But only when it is dry or slightly wet. When conditions are tough ignition always fail. I have chequed seals, whires etc. etc. but it is always the same, and really would like to forget about it if I can find an electronic ignition. I am quite happy with the rest of the bikes I have ready to go (including 4 Bultaco
  25. Hi bultoboy: In fact I know Dave, but never think about him selling Montesa parts. I have a very nice and original 247 and the big headache is the ignition. In fact I never use it because of that. Also know some people trying to sell useless ignitions.... Thanks for your help.
