  1. I had a long ride in that Derbi 25 years ago and can say it was a very good bike, similar feeling when you drive a 200 Fantic but the engine was better. I think it is a pity Derbi stopped the development of trials bikes. It is a very good engeneering company, and with perfect "value per money" products. I don
  2. Hi this trial looks fantastic. Where and when is it, where can I have some info about next year
  3. Could anibody please post a photo from a Cheetah Villiers?? I would like to know which model it is. Thank you.
  4. You can win Robregordo yellow route. Kinlochleven is a different story as all the pilots race same category.
  5. No majestyman340, no modern bikes in the Spanish Classic Champ. There are 4 categories at the moment Master (Red) extremely tough, pilots like Gomez (125cc. world champ.) and some other very good pilots race here, just think Gomez did not win in Mallorca. Expert (blue) tough, Trialeros (green) and Clasicos (Yellow) being this last the easy one. Inside green, the most popular, you can choose Pre-72, Pre-77 or Twinshock. There are some technical restrictions in the Pre categories, for example you must use the original engine, carburettor, original hubs, yokes, frame..... You can choose your level, but to descend to a lower level you need the permit of the Federation (they will give it depending of your last results). To mark sections with 4 different levels inside is not easy, so trials must be done in places where there is a lot of place where to choose. In Mallorca we raced arround a 100 pilots, and it is the less popular race (but the trial is so good!!!), as almost all the pilots need to send the bike there and travel to an island. Normally we race 150, 200 pilots like in Robregordo. You can have a look to our classic champ. in www.sotobikesport.com
  6. Hi Steve: Have a look here http://www.gespanntrial.de/technik.htm you can get some ideas and drowings for your trial sidecar. Please let us know if you ever built it.
  7. Just imagine..... Ossa + Mallorca..... easy
  8. Hi Steve: I was 6th in green category, 12 sections 2 laps and a trial short of time, so I had to rush in the second lap without checking the sections. 2 silly fiascos in the second lap took me there. The bike is FANTASTIC.
  9. Scott_king you can have a look here http://www.tolomartorell.gt.tc/ for some photos of the sides.
  10. Big John: guess who is the owner of the Ossa with the red stripe.......British......... And another British in the poster of the race, but don
  11. I thought that maybe some of you would like to have a look to some of the new preparations seen on the first round of the Spanish Classic Championship last 2 March in Mallorca Island. The trial was fantastic and some of the preparations where spectacular.
  12. Yes, I can explain you of course; because that registration number does not exist, and if it does, it is not from this bike. The guy in Spain that polished the tank, air filter and the number plate thought it would be a nice idea (and of course also thought I would like his idea.......) to paint a "British" registration number in the plate, the first one his imagination could think. He allways tought that bike will race in the Spanish races, where you don
  13. Thank you Stickinthemud, will phone them.
  14. Fantastic. Thanks EdHolland a great video. Fortunately here just 2 minutes to download, and the quality is really good. Just watching the first scenes I wonder if this is what some people want the Pre-65 to be........

    Best Twinshock?

Any Bultaco, specially 198 - 199 series if compared with the bikes that shared trials with them (not with later trials bikes). The best competition trials bikes ever in my opinion (although they needed a lot of attention to make them winners). After them maybe Fantic 240 with a 300 engine (as used in the World Champ.).
  16. This is it. I thought that maybe there where mudguards specially built for this, but I think you are correct; there are not and I will need somebody to customize it and do it fit the frame. Thank you.
  17. I belive it depends in: 1.- Number of times a year you can use it. There are no trials for aircolled monoshocks, so nobody wants them. In Spain there are some people buying this kind of bikes now that there are cheap, as they belive they will be the classics in the future. For Twinshocks there are plenty of trials, and also for Pre-65, so everibody wants this kind of bikes and nobody the "old" moderns. 2.- The money you put in a good bike is allways the same, maybe you can "do it yourself", but at last time + spares cost the same to all of us. It depends in how good you want the bike, and more important, how much you want to work on it. It is not the same to have a bike made by somebody like El Puma, where all works properly and perfect, and if you have any problem he will fix it for you, you only need to clean it, fill it with petrol and check the tyres pressure for the first 2 years. Better than buying a new one in the 70
