I try to do that when I'm observing!

Including the wires that go to the coil?

I don't think headstock bearings are causing the bike to shut down to be realistic!
Two possibilities:
Your fuel pump is playing up, if it stops running or runs lumpy when it is fully up to working temerature and things get a bit hot - this is expensive to rectify (
-
If it works for Bigwig, that's good enough for me!

I understand the problem, however there is no need to continually detach the Hebo (brand) aux tank from the forks.
Simply carry a long length of tube that fits the outlet spur on the aux fuel tank, long enough to reach into the main fuel tank.
Also when not in use a length of pipe is used to blank off the two pipes of the aux tank effectively creating a loop so the fuel goes no-where.
Then using the short length of pipe as a blowing tube, attach it to the breather connector on the aux tank and attach the long tube to the outlet insert the other end into the open main fuel tank. Then proceed to blow into the short tube which will vent the aux into the main tank.
A deep inward breath and a long continuous blow will vent the aux tank into the main. Repeat as necessary to either fully expel the fuel into the main tank as required.
Remember do not breath in when doing this, or you will injest harmful toxic fuel air vapour and do not do this near a naked flame or have the bike running (fire and explosion risk).
After you are happy with the level in the main tank, simply disconnect the long hose, pop the short hose back on to reconnect the two pipes on the Hebo aux tank and put the fuel tank cap back on and ride into the sunset, remembering to put the long hose back in your tool belt!
Hope this helps

What a guy that Munch is, putting the record straight once again.
...as they say down in Stevenage: "4RT quality worth waiting for"!!!

MSM Insurance (see other threads on here) 01279 870535

I heard that there are some new 4RT's have arrived into the country in the last few days!
Big John
-
I don't have such a list, so I don't have a problem on facebook!
Interesting details though, if you like that kind of thing!
Big John

That's much better. Not much info on there yet, but its early days. No chat or forums I see, will this change through time.
Ceratinly better to navigate than the old site version which I didn't use much as it wasn't user friendly enough.
Yeah roll on May, but not too quick as I'm still saving for it!

Float Height:
25mm when the float valve is just closed.
Procedure is:
Hold the carb with its main bore in a vertical position, so that the float arm tang will just close the flaot valve, without compressing the spring loaded plunger in the end of the valve. Measure the float height with an appropriate float level guage. Float height (distance between the carburretor body and the opposite edge of the float) should be 25mm (0.984 in)
I can't comment about the footrests as my TL is a works replica type so not an original TL250 frame. You can get weld on brackets so that you can fit modern Hebo style footrests.
Hope this helps,

To answer your question, yes!

Where have you seen that about?

Chewy,
MSM Insurance, its all you need mate, TPFT cover including ULR and Legal Expenses if required! Covers you when competing in an event including Scottish Six Days; Reeth Three Day whatever!
Cover note issued within 24 hours of telephone proposal, can't say fairer than that.
Covered my 20 year olds' 4RT no problem.
Why try anywhere else? its been custom made for trials and enduro bikes only, no motocrossers and they insure up to

Actually, Ian Robertson and Alan Scott are cousins!
Big John

Actually I had just finished static balancing the bike for about 15 minutes!!!
I have never stayed at a YMCA in my life!

By the heck, that man Kinell gets around doesn't he?
I never had him down for cruising canals, but he has probably cruised past a few when he's been lost in the Highlands!
Big John
(It's very easy to get lost you know!)

That's it all done this morning, on the phone: 01279 870535. MSM confirmed that the bike was covered for the SSDT and any recognised trial event using the public highway to interconnect the course!
Job done, just the cover needed, I can recommend MSM Insurance.
Big John
(I have no commercial connection with MSM Insurance, but I don't do recommendations unless I'm satisfied!)

Well done Tim!
That's me on my 199A on the left (still have the Bultaco, but don't have the hairstyle!), Grant Miller on the Model 221 175cc Sherpa on the right.
Nice one!
Big John
-
Correct, the model 221 was a 175cc Sherpa aimed at the UK youth market in 1979. I bought a 325 mod 199A (still have it) that season and there is a photo on facebook of me sitting on my 325 with Grant Miller seated on a 175 model 221 with the correct alloy tank. Photo was taken at the Scottish Motorcycle Show as Grant; Graham Smith (SWM) and I were all sponsored by Robbie Allan through the Scottish Show (not a lot of people know that - they do now!)
The model 221 in the photo was bought by a guy called Ian Robertson and to my knowledge he still has it.
From memory, the model 221 motor was basically a 250cc Sherpa bottom end with a 175 barrel, piston and head fitted on top.
Big John
I would put the photo on here, but I can't for some reason!

Well we are going the MSM Insurance route for No.1 son's trials bike, however the maximum cover they provide is TPFT, comprehensive is not available on their policy! There are also security requirements which we more than comply with in any case.
But for events like the SSDT or Reeth 3 Day its a worthy contract, remember for the SSDT, the Locktons RTA insurance is "supplementary RTA insurance" for the event only (a bit like the old rally drivers between stages cover of old), it does not cover you prior to or after the event itself! This is a common misconseption, the acid test is this, can your insurance be used to actually tax the bike? If it can't, then you aint covered properly! - Beware, check it out with your usual insurance broker or contact MSM for a quote!
Big John
-
I thought a list was impractical until the numbers were issued and that doesn't happen until prospective riders pay the money! Very important bit of the SSDT rutual is that!
Big John

Look the Dabster is alright, he's not a bad lad, but I wish they had put an "all of the above" button to be accurate!

Its a strange one Tim, you see most other motorsports are using four stroke motors as they definately run a lot cleaner than two-strokes, OK we could argue that one day with efi the emissions from a 2T would be minimal, but trials is becoming a sport on its own it seems having held on to 2T motors for longer.
Maybe I'm wronghere, but MX and racing has seen a growth of 2T motors over the last 10 years.
I prefer a 4T motor myself, but that's just me!
