Well at my age, you like to have a nap in the afternoon and as Xispas are a bit of a non-starter up here, I thought I would give it some zeds!
You never know one might come along...one day!
The nearest one to me is in Northumberland ain't that right Joe Eric?

Apart form one that did a special demo for a magazine for one day at the SSDT, I'm still waiting to see any in ownership up here in Scotland!
<pulls up foot stool for a snooze>
Wake me up someone when one arrives please?
Big John
Oh before I go and do something useful, Ringodog did you not post earlier as the Canadian importer guy or did I dream it?
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Well the "Scottish" started in 1909 as a Five day trial, so yes motorcycle trials have been going for over a 100 years as the Scottish wasn't the very first trial!

The model 92 (325) was a good bike and if its ready to ride I would say it would be worth $1500 that is under

Welcome on board Scott, have you joined the Dunfermline Club then?
Big John
-
Not really, in this economic climate it's going to be difficult moving them in one lump unless the price is really keen!
Big John
PS: I've just realised who you are!!!!I was a bit slow on the uptake there...
-
I wouldn't even like that!
Big John

Yeah that's him, he also wore a strange Davy Crockett type hat as well!

very nice, I see it has been used and restored then, going by the scratches on the very very expensive original tail-can.
Big John

I agree with Wayne Weedon.
If the motor has good compression, that is a good basic bike for restoration and it has one of the finest Sherpa motors ever made, Model 80 - top 250 bike in its day in my opinion!

I'm not in favour of monoshock bikes converted to twinshocks, in fact to be blunt I'm totally opposed to the concept - full stop. I think its just taking the p*** to a new (modern) level.
I'm quite sure that one day there may be a class for air-cooled monos like the JCM; Yamaha TY250R; early Beta TR33 etc etc and lads will have fun riding them, but as Yamaha TY250R twin-shock, forget it!
I have a nice 1989 Yam TY mono and would never consider chopping it, in fact my eldest lad borrowed it and rode it at a Dunfermline SACU Support round a few weeks back, "just for the craic" and really enjoyed riding a bike that I bought when he could hardly walk, never mind ride a push-bike.
I have ammassed a fair number of twin-shock bikes over the past few years and it hasn't cost me a fortune, admittedly, I have spent a considerable amount of money on AJS, Matchless and Honda RTL bikes over the last 20 years for my own enjoyment and I have never bought any of my bikes as an investment, it's just because I like them and it brings enjoyment just owning them as well as occassionally riding them!

Sorry to hear of your sad loss Steve. Did he use to come up here with an old Escort style van with a weird sort of boat like camper part to it?

I can tell you the Dabill family pronounce it as:
DAY-BILL
I obtained that information directly from Mrs. Dabill, James's mother at this years SSDT.

Well, I was asked by a lot of people as to whether Paul Bolton would complete the Scott course on Saturday, I had a stock answer, it was this:
"Well if anybody can - Paul Bolton can"
I stuck to that prediction, and I wasn't far wrong.
I was well pleased to check off his number (190) in my little "Checker book" on Saturday afternoon, I just happened to be observing at "Clapgate", the final observed section of the day!
Congratulations Paul on a stonking ride!

Not at all, that is one fine Bultaco motorcycle you have there No Jive!

All we need now is a new Montesa Importer/distributor for the UK!
Big John
-
Great find there Wetfeet, one of those would look great as a trophy! But the recipent would probably never want to hand it back.
Does it say if the guy sells them?
Big John
-
Nope wrong, you are getting Baldilocks confused with Roger Holden (Cliff's son).
Baldilocks is from the North East like!
Haddaway Man!

I heard that one rider has a broken back and another serious head injuries. 17 injured taken to hospital at the time.

I'm not quite sure what you are getting at Copemech in your post, I don't recall posting anything about a free speak forum.
The Canadian importer seems to have taken things a bit to heart, but when I tried to get on their website, it seems to have disappeared or maybe it was offline, but I can't get Xispa Canada.
I presume you meant to write please "expand" not "expound"?
I know that Border Bikes in Berwick (just outside Scotland by a few miles) are advertising them and a lad I know in Northumberland has one at the moment, but as far as Scotland is concerned, I haven't actually seen one in action up here...yet!
It's taking an enormously long time getting this product out in the market and in this current economic situation, well... that's all I'm saying for now.

My youngest son had an '06 125 Rev3 and it had a Dellorto carb fitted as standard, it used to rev high on the choke from cold, and as you say I "feathered" the choke lever until it would run without.
It's a bit nerve racking to say the least!

As far as I can see here in the UK, Xispa has become a nonentity!
