Make sure its getting air into the fuel tank via the overflow pipe, we had one which had a blocked/faulty breather pipe on the tank cap. Also what about if you have an in-line fule filter is it clear?

My son has an '09 and had an 07 before that.
09 has a deeper sound to it and runs very well indeed, no problems, very smooth of the bottom end.

Er...yes as long as you exclude places like Scotland, Ireland and Wales, because they are too far away from the IOW?
Hmmmm...
Big John

Possibly, but I think you know my views on this one anyway!
Big John

You won't! I'm keeping my opinions on this subject to myself this time!

Sure, the SACU run the "Scottish" trials championships. How can you call it a "British" championship when the rounds are all in England, surely it should be called an "English" championship then?
The ACU are quite right if they agree a Scottish round of any "British" championships, that goes for Welsh and Irish too. The Macdonald Trial at Kinlochleven is regarded as one of the finest ACU "British" rounds in the calendar!
We have also allowed ACU riders to ride in our "open" championships for a long time!

From memory the TY80 came out around 1974/75, TY175 a little later.
I agree with most of what you have said in your post bikespace.
I think the word you are looking for is "built in obsolescence" when it comes to trials bikes.
However, with only detailed changes, the Montesa 4RT hasn't changed much from the original 2005 model to present day. The electrics, throttle body has had detailed refinements and the grafics have changed and as a result it is getting a fair bit of 'slagging off' as a has been trials mount on another thread on here. But dolly up a 2006 version by powdering the frame matt black and change the mudguards and apart from the engine and VIN numbers you would swear it was a newer model.
Trials is and always will be, a follower of fashion, as you elude its a shame kids get bored with their bike pretty fast and of course the desire to have the very latest model often means a drain on the resources.
It's become a 'fashion' sport with some and you know what happens in the fashion industry, "here today gone...."

Anyway, all this chat is all irrelevant, someone bought the TRW ex-Dabill Montesa, great someone should have it.
Who is going to import the Montesa 4RT to the UK, or will it continue on as Honda RTL250F?
I think it is a great shame if these machines are not brought into the UK. It will mean less, not more, choice for the UK trials rider!
Thanks of course to James Sandifords for being the importer for 42 years.

As a precaution I would tend to change the intake rubber, I have heard of at least one going up this neck of the woods. It's not an expensive part (not like the twistgrips!)

<pulls up chair, gets kettle on, makes a Corned Beef sandwich, puts feet on cushion>
... looks like an entertaining night this!

Yip strange indeed, every time those exact symptoms happened on my model 80, 250 Sherpa when I rode it almost every weekend in life (long time ago), those symptoms usually ended up with me changing ignition side crankcase seals!

Correct, running an youth on an over-capacity bike in any event invalidates the insurance cover.
I know larger/well built youths are capable of handling bikes in excess of 125cc, but when it all goes wrong and sadly sometimes this happens, we all need the insurance cover.
