  1. Hi Scrumpy, I wouldn't recommend anything unless it was right for the job! Big John
  2. Definately leave the rock alone, that's what trials is all about, see ACU Handbook, page 163 Trials, TSR 22 definitions: Failure (l) "A rider or person having an interest in a riders' performance, who in any way alters the severity of a section without the authority of an official" will therefore earn themselves a five mark penalty!
  3. I'm not a lawyer either, there was no such law of trespass in Scotland, however, if you deemed to have damaged property or crop in a field while on someone's land that was indeed an offence and chargeable! It may have changed now as there have been quite a number of legal battles to exclude people from travelling over folks property or land. Still stick to my guns in my original posting, if you were caught on MOD land then you must suffer the penalty. I agree with Woody, go and get legal advice from a solicitor/lawyer locally. Big John
  4. Serves you right! Don't be a pillock and never do it again, let this be a warning to all out there... Big John
  5. I've PM'd you with Stuart towner's phone number he may be able to help. Big John
  6. Tim's quite correct. 198 = 250cc bike with Amal carb 199 = 350cc bike with Bing carb Bikes with no suffix A or B had the frame tubes below the motor with a slotted steel welded on sump guard. "A" suffix model variants were blue tank, side panels and frame (chopped off below the engine with alloy skid plate) "B" suffix model variants were white frame with alloy skid plates, sqaure section swing arm and chopped frame at rear mudguard with revised strengthening at seat/ air box area. Then the B models variants were further modified by Comerfords, Dave Renham is your man for all that data of course! I just love those Bultacos! Big John
  7. Hi Scrumpyjack, Clear down your TC inbox as I can't send my reply and I have the info you need! Big John
  8. PM me and I will put you in touch with someone who has made a few stainless exhausts in the past, he may just have one left. Big John
  9. Hi Zippy, It's a bit like having a drivers' licence, it is a form of identification so that event organisers known firstly that you are a member of an affiliated (or associated) club of the governing body (ACU in the UK or Scottish ACU for Scotland) which is similar to your AMA. It is necessary to effect the insurance cover for the promoting club and clarifies who is riding the event. In fact the Clerk of the Course is responsible for the identification of riders competing at any event. It really is a situation of no licence = no ride! Amusing story from years ago. I remember when I was much younger around about 1971/72, a couple of guys had stolen a model 49 250cc Bultaco Sherpa from a local Policeman's house in Bathgate West Lothian (of all people to nick a bike from!) then pushed it to the local motocross meeting at Hillhouse Farm near a town called Linlithgow. They had painted the bike in white gloss paint and stuck a race number on the front and coolily asked if they could ride in the motocross! When they could provide no licence or ID to prove entry and it was evident that the ligitimate rider had already signed in with the same number, the track official had a quiet word with the Police man on duty near the main gate and hey presto, the guys were taken to the local nick for questioning and the local Copper got his bike back! 10. Hi Lacho, Firstly it would be better and safer to get yourself a more up to date helmet, there is a good range available now and some dealers do deals on last years designs. For example a new Nau helmet retails for about
  11. I probably passed you on the track then as I was riding my BSA B40 at Alvie! Big John
  12. Yip Vee-twin Matchless, they had that engine in a road bike in the 1930's. Similar to the JAP motor. A friend of mine locally is into those kind of Matchless's and built a special AJS "Golden Streak" variant. His interpretation of what the factory should have made. His name is Sid Leitch. Big John
  13. Welcome to Trials Central World gjbiker. You will be welcome to join either Inverness and/or Bon Accord trials clubs. For the minimal cost, I would advise that you join both, why not have the best of both worlds after all. Both the Bon Accord and Inverness & District are recognised organisations and they are SACU affiliated/registered clubs with properly authorised officials. As idmcc sec correctly states, there is no insurance or indemnity cover provided by the recognised sporting governing body (SACU in Scotland) to organisations that are not SACU affiliated and therefore if an accident occurs, there is no protection given by the SACU insurers to non-affiliated clubs. Details of affiliated clubs throughout Scotland by the SACU may be obtained by visiting the SACU website www.sacu.co.uk or contacting the SACU office on 01506 858354. Big John
